Absolutely! Remember Season 1, when Bonnie's grandma died? One of the reasons one could accept that was that she was too strong and could've made any storyline too easily solved. Now it's the other way round: no matter how hard the Mystic Falls gang will work, Esther can do whatever she wants :-( And I don't even like her as a character/villain. I don't want her to stick around!!
I'm also wondering if Evilric will be the new villain for next season? Or will he die (finally)?

I loved this episode - every moment of it! Everything that happened made sense and like Matt said, didn't feel forced.
I'm not a viewer that's incredibly against Damon - I LOVE his character but I can't deny that my heart has always been with Stefan and Elena. I just hope they don't continue to write Elena going back and forth between the two brothers because it will eventually get weird and tiresome (as the past few weeks have shown).
Anyway, loved this ep and I'm now officially scared of Alaric and what he's going to do to the vampires in this town now that he's some unstoppable vampire hunter... oh my god!! :S

I agree with Bored Now. That love triangle is so boring that I don't even care about it anymore. Damon or Stefan or maybe neither? Just decide already so we could move on to the other story lines!!! And the Originals have become cute little kittens that are not frightening at all.

Sometimes I think that Mystic Falls must have more fancy dress costume shops of the highest possible quality than any other small town in the US! These kids seem to have access to a never-ending supply of perfectly fitting period clothes from every era possible! I appreciate in a show with vampires, werewolves, witches and now hybrids, that complaining about the unfeasibility of the costumes might seem a bit random, BUT it annoys me intensely! As does resurrection storylines. It's getting to the point where youngsters must be puzzled when granny doesn't actually come back to life like in all the tv shows they watch!

I do have a big problem with the way Alaric was brought back.. no offence but that was a great goodbye scene, now it feels tainted. Not to mention that Bonny was once again just a plotdevice. We haven't seen her for weeks and suddenly, boom she's there to fix the spells and oh right, to be used by Esther.
I did miss the interaction between Damon and Elena, though I have to admit that the scenes with Stefan were nice.
I agree with Bored Now..Season 1 was the best and the show is a shadow of its former self..but I thought this episode was quite an improvement..sad that Alaric has to go but I love Matt Davis and his bad-ass potrayal..he is that goood!! Oh..one more thing..what the heck is Bonnie doing on the show?!! They should seriously give this girl a storyline..

Alaric is not Alaric.Elena is a bitch.Stefan would prefer to kill him for 1 second with Elena!Bonnie,Matt and Caroline couldn't care less.Jeremy would just turn his back to him!

And don't get me wrong!If Alaric wouldn't be revived i wold have written a whole comment saying how much i cried for his departure!Honestly that was a teriffic episode!It had action,emotion,depth...it had everything!It's 5/5!BUT one thing that can ruin it for me is killing someone and then take it back!
BUT OMG the scene between Alaric and Damon man did that made me cry like a baby!For one reason one of my favorite character would be dead in about and second and then i was already crying for that then i remembered "hey damon has noone now"....yeah that tottaly broke me into thousand pieces!

Im fed to the teeth with the Lameness that Klaus has become.Season 2 did a great job of creating an aura of mystery around the (still up for debate) first and oldest living Vampire.But somewhere during this season he's just crashed and burned as someone to fear.I to now want the show to bring on an actual villian that instills fear in the hearts of all that is good in Mystic falls.Not some second rate villian who spends far to much time monologing about what they intend to do,but rather just DO . . . . Kinda like The Joker in The Dark Knight.In the movie he says he never has a plan,he just does what he does.An absolute psychotic Vampire in that vein is something I would personally love to

Part of the reason on why Season One is regarded as widely THE BEST season of tvd is because EVERYONE had their plotlines to experience and the show did not rely on cheap plot twists and cheap romance pairings to work.
Hell, EVEN ELENA was bearable because she had something sensible to do, something connected to her life and something every teenager in her situation would do - seek out her parents. You could almost ignore that she did not grieve over anything that happened during that season or before.
Females in this show lack independence by now.

This episode was just ok for me...I for one, want to see alot more vampire on vampire violence !!.All we ever see at this point are the vamps "Super speeding" around and that is hella lame.
Remember last season when Damon and Stefan came to Carolines aid when she was being held captive in an r.v. by Jules and her wolfpack ?? That scene is one of my all time favorites of the show..We saw Damon and Stefan finally kick ass and look cool while dishing out the vamp on werewolf violence.
I too can see many similarities to twilight.
This is what ruined DE for me.
I loved Damon/Elena to death during the first season because you saw this natural progression and they both challenged each other an were amused by each other.
Come season two and I see two pairings of Bella/Edward going back and forth with no substance at all. And now it has got even worse.
elena is seriously getting on my nerves ! her reaction never suits the situation ,people die around her ,her family and friends ,and it's just a few tears then a hug for stephan and next day is just let's get over it !,that's not a real character !,, a real person would be devastated!!
THIS THOUSAND TIMES THIS.
Elena:
- lost her parents because of her fault
- saw vicki die.
- got kidnapped MULTIPLE TIMES.
- Got stalked and threatened by a stalker(which alone would leave huge psychological trauma on normal human beings).
- Found out she is some magical contrivance and someone else is wearing her face(where is the identity crisis?)
- Devised horrible plan that caused THE LEFTOVERS OF HER REAL AND FAKE FAMILIES TO DIE IN FRONT OF HER. (Where is the reaction, again?)
- FRACKING GOT KILLED (any reaction? no).
She is the most unrealistic character in the history of tv shows.

@ Herewego , oh yeah.. Major deaths or in the case of TVD some permanent departures.
Two star episode at best. Alaric SL was a joke , M Davis is better off doing Cult.

The scene between Damon and Alaric did hurt me more than everything else on this show. Who didn`t love the growing friendship between them. Damon don`t care about a lot of people. It`s just Stefan, Elena and Alaric. And now he lost his best friend. I also feel sad about Elena and Jeremy. Since vampires crashed in their both life they loose everything. I´m Delena forever, but the scene between Stefan and Elena was pure. But Julie told earlier that Elena choose will effect everything. If she will choose Stefan, nothing will change. If she choose Damon to much will change.I`m pretty sure she will choose her life as a human. It`s pretty clear now. The new poster showed her alone cryin over a rose half-white and half-red. For me a symbol for Damon and Stefan. And Julie hints that the Salvatore which she don`t choose will leave town. So, Mystic Falls without a Damon or a Stefan. Not possible. I think we have our answer.

I was mostly bored by this episode. All this crap with Esther and Alaric has worn thin. As for Bonnie, the writers don't really seem to know her character so they keep her around solely as a plot device. Her "romance" with Jamie feels unnatural because their characters are not properly developed. It's the same story week after week recycled with contrived twists and presented as "new". They need to stop bringing back these dead characters, but the writers are so lazy that they can't resist taking the easy way out. The characters don't change much and when they do, it always comes out of nowhere. Also, Klaus' credibility as a villain has been completely destroyed. This show needs new "blood".

@Herewego, that may be how you feel but there's stll alot of people who love this show, still find it amazing and compelling and they're not all fangirls. I'll admit I was a little disappointed during the middle third, but the first part and the episodes following 1912 have actually made be feel back on track with the show.
Side Note: It's been three seasons coming and we finally saw part of Bonnie's house, It's a TVD miracle!

I gonna say what most of us have known for the whole season.....Bored Now has been right all along. This show is self destructing! I can't tell where twilight ends and this show begins anymore. Mystic "Forks" has played itself out. No resolution to the love triangle is gonna save this train wreck. Nothing short of some major deaths of boring characters (Stefan, klaus, Matt, Bonnie, Jeremy) can save this show.
Damon: She's strong and crafty and you'll die. Elena: At least I'll die trying.
