Fairly Legal Review: Running Into the Storm

at . Comments

Kate, Kate, Kate. Just when I thought Kate Reed's life couldn't get more complicated, in "Kiss Me Kate" she found a way to make more of a mess of it.

After the smooch between Kate and Ben on last week's Fairly Legal, Kate was obviously reeling and Ben was seriously smitten.

I wasn't sure about Ben at the start of this season, but that besotted look on his face was damn cute. His whole face lit up when Kate agreed to their date.

Kate Works With Nicastro

Unfortunately, Kate Reed couldn't simply go to dinner with a guy who liked her. Her mind was in overdrive and fear drove her to make a bad decision as she literally jumped into bed with Justin.

Two weeks ago, I was still rooting for a reconciliation between Justin and Kate. I looked forward to them talking about what killed their marriage and why Justin had a one night stand. I'd hoped maybe they could find their way back to one another.

But this wasn't about forgiveness or love. It was about fear. Kate ran from the very idea of moving forward with Ben right back to her safe zone, Justin.

Poor Justin probably thought that their night together meant they had a chance despite their divorce but somehow I don't see that happening. Kate and Justin are so broken that I'm not even sure I want to see them try and fix it.

My heart ached for Ben. Not only did the guy get stood up via text message but then he ran around like a love struck fool trying to find her. He was completely crushed when Leo told him Kate had gone to see Justin and it slid downhill fast from there. He too ran back to his safe zone. For him it's the snarky, arrogant persona that cares about no one but himself.

It seems as though Kate Reed has made a mess of not only her own life but also the lives of the two men who care about her. The sad part was she was hurting herself all the more.

On the work front, Judge Nicastro was back and I was thrilled to see him again. His father/daughter relationship with Kate is always a joy to watch. The union dispute was intense but the highlight was seeing Nicastro protect Kate's honor and then Kate returning the favor by saving his job. These two make a good team and I hope to see more of it.

I couldn't figure out if I liked Lauren's artwork better with or without the pink paintball attack. With the firm in financial trouble, was a $50,000 painting really a smart investment?  I'm with Ben on this one as he says in this Fairly Legal quote:

I'd rather enjoy $50,000. | permalink

Yeah, no kidding.

I was a bit surprised that Justin sought out the kid. He's usually the law and order guy. I also expected Lauren to offer to be the kid's art benefactor at the end and was a bit disappointed we didn't get there.

So where do you think Kate goes from here? Are you team Justin or team Ben? Or should it simply be team Kate for a while? I've found my loyalties changing. How about you?

Did not like Ben at first but now I do. This made me chuckle "Meat Loaf Aday."

I was heartbroken along with Ben when Leo told him Kre was at Justin's. After the past 2 episodes it is evident that Ben is in love with Kate. True love. He is willing to step out of the box in order to help Kate even though he wouldn't have given it a second thought otherwise with her methods. I love Ben now ever since the sincere hand hold and hot kiss. I'm afraid I think this will be the last season because the last episode is titled finale. I just want Kate to grow up and be happy with Ben. Even though I love Justin because I think he's a great guy... I think their story is closed and broken. They story is broken.

Oh, I'm definitely team Ben now. Between last week's hand holding and that hot surprise kiss, and then seeing his adorable love struck expressions this week, how can you not fall for this guy. What Kate did to him was horrible, even though she doesn't realize it yet. The girl really needs to grow up or she'll end up alone.

Kate was so afraid of Ben that she slept with Justin. That is far past being afraid, Kate seriously needs to grow up. Kate tried to keep busy enough to distract her from her fear of that 7:30 land mark, dude it's just a time and she could have easily opted out of it. It was sad to see Ben hurt after he found out she was with Justin. I imagined he pictured how he felt when he found out his ex cheating on him. It seemed a bit insensitive of Kate to then ask Ben out after just sleeping with her ex, especially knowing what Ben told her on the roof of the office building. This would cause Ben to reevaluate his choices. I always thought Justin was just as confused as Kate, which made them unsuitable for each other. As stuck up as Ben can be, he actually has a good heart that he hides from a few. Kate may have just caused it to go back in hiding, and that may have been the boost of maturity she needed.

Definitely Team Ben! My heart broke for him when Leo told him Kate was at Justin's. :(

Ever since we found out what Justin did to her I've been team Ben. But I think that she does need some closure regarding Justin. I agree with everything you said in your review. Ben really likes her and if it wasn't for her damn fear of moving on then she might've gone out with ben. Justin didnt seem to have a problem moving on before. Hopefully, Ben and Kate will get back together in the next couple episodes. Ben's ex fiancé is coming next week so that should be very interesting and cause lots of drama. :)
Anyone know if it's getting renewed for another season?

I really enjoyed this episode!!!
I love Judge Castro and his fatherly ways!
I was all for a Justin and Kate reunion but my heart broke for Ben tonight. You can tell he really likes her and the moment he found out she was with Justin im felt so bad. He was letting his walls down, opening up and making his character more likable sad to see kate do this to him.
I think I might be on team Ben now. idk but tonights episode definitely pushed me more to his side.
