Shonda should have never, ever used the word "satisfying" (in an article she did not long ago) to describe this couple's last moments, not just from this eppy but the two before it. It was anything but. It was salt in the wounds, that is honestly the best description I can come up with. The marriage and children thing...crap. I just merely wanted these two back together, it didn't have to be "perfect", but just together and alive, start a real life together. The writers made plenty of other impossible things possible on this show, it's just ridiculous that they couldn't have come up with a substantial story-line for these two for three years. That's what I'll never understand. Not just the death, but the waste before. No wonder Chyler wanted to leave.

I was really underwhelmed. For me, the hype about the episode way exceeded the actual event. In the last 5 minutes I kept waiting for something to happen, for the whole site to go up in flames or something. I can't believe all the hype Shonda has created about this episode and the 'cliffhanger' that she has wanted to change about 20 times, when in reality we had one character die in 20 minutes and that was it. Disappointing when compared to the George dying finale and the shooting finale which had me traumatised for days!

If only Chyler had gotten better material from season five on...I honestly think she would have stayed had she gotten better material to work with. I don't blame her for leaving, but I blame Shonda. Yes, I do. She wasted the Lexie and Mark characters for three years. He was regressed when that stupid brat and the one in her belly showed up. Regressed when he slept with Addison, then...he became a sperm donor. For Callie. Geez a freaking lou. Then Lexie being involved in two triangles, and the Jackson/Mark "bromance"...why was all this time wasted? That's what I want to know, but will never get an answer to. The writers just didn't want to do it, despite the chemistry, potential, promise, and relevance M/L had. I didn't have to have "marriage and babies" (crap was their last dialogue salt in the wounds), I just wanted them together, working through whatever problem they faced, and there could have been many other routes for these two.

Shonda managed to piss off all slexie fans. Me included. I can't even talk right now, cause I have mixed emotions. I'm really depressed lexie died. However one thing that I'm irritated with, Lexie died, both Meredith and mark lost her, and everybody keeps talking about the mark and lexie relationship but no one seems to care that mer lost her sister. I loved slexie too but am I the only one who loved the moments of Meredith and lexie together?!?

I wish season 9 starts from the end of season 8,they find them,get them back to Seattle, Callie try to operate on Arizona, Teddy stays to operate on Mark, April stays as Lexie now is dead, Alex stays as Arizona will be in a bad shape-who knows till when-
They will also send a plane to get Lexie and mourn her, I think the rest of the episode will be the same as 1st episode in Season 6 when they all were in a grave mourning George....I believed she was Lexie because she was Shadow Shepherd for the whole season, has no good story line and all she was doing is wanting and not wanting Mark, but I wasnt sure how they will kill her, if the originals-back then- didnt sign their contracts and if Lexie is dead and Mer didnt sign her contract,So what does Grey's Anatomy mean in season 9 ???!!! that's what made me feel, she wont be lexie, although all the signs of bad and short screen time as they did with George before killing him was so identical to Lexie

I think that with Lexie gone, and cast signing only 2 more seasons/years, maybe Grey's Anatomy's rounding up for the end.
But now I'm more angry than sad. I mean, between the ending of ep. 23 and this, nothing changes. Some of the cast members in the plane can still die next season (hypothermia, bleeding, depression... unless they've signed). The ones at SGMW that passed the boards still have the intention of leaving. Bailey and Ben's relationship didn't move a lot either.
The only thing that surprised me was Owen firing Teddy. I loved her!!!

maybe its because i stopped caring about the carracters a long time ago, but i this was just realy boring.
the big "shocker" lexi died, she was my first guess when i heard the rumors about "someone" is going to die. not because i hate her. but because the writers had no more ideas for her. she had just as much story as george had in his last season, and in the end, he died.
all the rest? just more boring drama, next seasons finaly will be a nuclear explotion just to top it...

For those who keep saying that the writing seemed rushed and haphazard: it was. Shonda clearly stated that she had to leave all story lines unresolved because at the time of writing/filming this seasons ending, the original's contracts were up and they still had to make a decision about coming back or not. But now we know all the originals signed a two year contract extension. So unless Shonda/the network gets rid of them, or greys gets cancelled we have them for two more seasons. Chyler Leigh (Lexi) is pursuing stage acting in the musical "Diner" based off of the movie of the same title.

@lea : You're not supposed to pull the object from the wound if you intent on standing still and get surgery. If you have to walk, you can't have a foreign object in your leg, it'll move and cause more damage. As for Derek, if he wouln't have pulled his hand out of this, the blood would have stopped running to the hand and they'd have had to amputate. They both made the right decisions, as would a doctor do. If anyone there is a doctor, correct me if I'm wrong...

i never liked Lexie and glad she died, never liked how she was taking Mer's place as Derek's right hand. in fact i hated it. and her love story wasn't anywhere near as emotional or interesting as Mer's, Lexie's love thing was boring. Mer always went from Der. she had that Vet guy but didn't even sleep with him and then she was with Der again. Lexie slept with all the cast members that were single and available to avoid Mark (Alex, Jackson) and through out she never seemed half as mature as Mer was when she was an intern, Lexie just seemed fidgety and annoying. oh and i hated how she bugged Mer with her Dad's liver. why does Mer always have to do sth she doesn't want and is dangerous for her? Thatcher didn't deserve the liver.

Apparently no one remembers the episode "what if" where Lexy is a run away child that shows up in the hospital with an OD and she dies then. I thisk this is the way Shonda was gettint us preppere for her departure :( It is very sad seeing her go, I wanted to the weading of Mark and Lexy. The way I see it is destiny if in a parallel universe she dies it means she had to die. :( ( this is how I interpret it)
I just can't believe the season ended this way. Okay, let's break it down. We all loved Lexie - why did she have to die! I do not understand why they put so many great doctors on one small plane! And, why don't they have cell phones? I mean, five matches and a flare gun that doesn't work. Did they go down in some funky no signal zone or is it a dream?! I'm not sure I can keep watching if the original cast leaves. This is my favorite show - it's not fair - I liked it the way it was!

Regarding the finale?
I liked the callbacks from the previous seasons. The cold open from the pilot, and you can see young just graduated med-school Izzie. I enjoyed how Cristina mentioned "bombs", as a callback to season 2's End of the World as We Know It, "Guns" calling backing to Death and All His Friends, and of course George when she mentioned "buses running down my friends" calling back to Now or Never.
Callie mentioned George too. It's nice he's still in their minds.
I especially liked Meredith in her voiceover repeating the (then) Chief's opening line of playing the game.
I was sad, but I still loved it. Can't wait for season 9.

Christina cannot be the chief of cardio. Christina, just like the rest of the residents that are going into specialities other than general surgery, will still require an attending to teach them. Cardio is a three-year fellowship, peds, trauma, plastics is a two-year fellowship. Meredith is the only one that can actually be an attending because she's going into general surgery. After their fellowships, each would still need to pass boards of that specialty.

This has gotta be a dream ... otherwise, the writing really sucked! I'm a diehard fan since the very beginning but this episode, eeeghh. There were so many moments that didn't make sense and if it's not a dream, then it's just stupid ... like Mer pulling the piece of steel out of her leg, a doctor would know better. And Derek, without any hesitation, willing to mangle his hand. The whole plane crash area - the tree tops would have been all torn, there would have been fire / smoke, etc. Just the reactions and behaviour of the doctors was unrealistic ... and then those wind chimes. And in the very beginning when Mer is awakening, it looked like O/R lights. It just felt too rushed for one hour and with the writing, it wasn't believable. I was so looking forward to this finale - I'm let down. :(
