Yeah, really. I know it's only a tv show, and they're often crazily unrealistic, but this episode took the cake. Just bad, bad, bad. As so many have noted here, who survives a crash like that with minor injuries? How does the plane disappear and not be noticed? And neither the black box/location transponder or the flare gun work? No fire when the plane crashes? And, of course, the fact that they're all too stupid to know how to start a fire and keep one going? Really? This was just crap. The only possible explanation is, as has also been noted here, the whole thing was a dream/hallucination of Meredith's (which also occurred to me). I mean, if they can do it on Dallas, why not Grey's? If this many disasters actually happened to hospital personnel in real life w our hospitals would all be empty. Come on writers, you're supposedly the creative talent, come up with something new not this old crap.
P.S. I get that is it a season finale but please Shonda can we make it through one season without killing SOMEONE at the end... They were all headed different places anyway - I am getting a little tired of as Christina excellently put it "Seattle Grace Mercy Death". Thank goodness she made that comment. It makes me giggle a little because at least the watchers aren't the only ones who notice :)
@Marion I agree about the flight plan... But having lived in that area - cell phones are generally useless. Unless you are in town or very lucky it is a pretty big dead zone.
The dumbest part of the episode was the fire issue. I mean they are doctors - they KNOW better!
RIP Lexie - You did a good job of growing on me! Poor Mark!
While I thought it could be anyone, my money was on Lexie. It makes sense. First, she didn't have much of a story this season a la George in his last season. In fact, wasn't she absent the first few episodes?
Secondly, she's popular but she's not an original so if you need to eliminate characters and shake the status quo then it had to be one of the 'new comers'. For drama, it needed to be someone that's been around for a long time and well liked.
Finally, out of all the 'secondary characters', there wasn't a lot of mystery left. The sibling issue was resolved some time ago and tying Mark down would take away from his character.
I liked Lexie but I'm looking forward to ebb and flow of next season.

@blu...I totally agree about how Meredith reacted...it was almost as if she didn't care about her sister, even after Derek was found...Cristina showed more emotion towards Lexie...and @marion...I too think it wasn't thought out v well...someone HAD to have a mobile phone, SOMEONE would have realised they were missing long before...bit ridiculous imo

Why are the survivors not using their cell phones? The first one anyone in this country would do is use their cell phone to call for help! Was there not a flight plan filed? Were all the air traffic controlers asleep? This was not a well thought out script.

To say I'm pissed is an understatement. They killed lexie after giving her virtually nothing to do all season. I liked her enough to be pissed iver her dying and them keeping characters like April out of harm's way. Then the continuance of destroying mark as a character? Can he ever be happy in this series without being the proverbial dog being kicked regularly? The over the top Lost like plane crash was a new type if ridiculousness. And Meredith. She barely gave a damn for her sister because she was too busy looking and whining about Derek. Even after they found him...no one tried to stabilize the others before this Derek search and tending to. They pretty much left the pilot for dead, left Arizona alone yo tend to herself and are oblivious to how bad she's gotten. Didn't bother checking mark until ut was too late and made a fire without gathering wood that only kept mer Yang and Derek warm and left the others in the cold to die. Seriously?

For everyone that's saying they are not watching this show anymore, you are dumb. Grey's Anatomy is an amazing show, with amazing actors and actresses, with an amazing storyline. I have never been hooked to a show as much as I have with Grey's.
I mean, yes, i was devastated when Lexie died, heck i even cried. But you have to admit this was an incredible way to end the season.

I'am a Grey's Anatomy fanatic! & Yes I know the difference between fiction & reality but this episode had so much stupidity in it, it was ridiculous! For more than a day no one I mean No one realizes their missing? as if your not gonna want to know as soon as your partner, wife or friend lands? Right! Then Christina manages to find her shoe but no one can find their cell phones? Their Doctors, there cell phones should be glued to them! LOL I was very disappointed in this episode. I understand that they have to kill off main characters at times to keep the show growing & interesting but come on, expecting us not notice all the holes in this episode was an insult!!

After reading all of the posts, I pray that this was just a dream that Meredith had and when she wakes up all is normal at Seattle Grace. I can take a dream episode as mixed up as her life has been, then little Grey will still be alive. If not, Shonda, you did surprise her. I don't hate you for killing Lexie off, it is TV. I know the characters signed on for 2 more seasons so let's see Meredith and Derek live happily in the Dream House for those 2 years, pleasse. Maybe Christina and Owen can reunite. After this accident maybe she will realize how much she needs him. I hope Mark and Arizona both live. Nobody checked out Meredith's head, what was with that? When she said Zola and the scene with Mark and Lexie broke my heart. I know Owen will find them but they will all have to hang around for surgeries and recooperation except Lexie if she is really dead. Please let this just be a bad dream that Meredith had. We will give you a pass since Meredith is dark and twisty.

I couldn't believe Lexie was the one who died. The scene between her and Mark was heart breaking. Teddy leaving leaves Cardio open for Christina who I don't believe will abandon Meredith and Derek after going thru this. Yes Lexie dying does open a spot for April, unfortunately. I have a feeling she is going to end up pregnant and Avery will stay out of loyalty to Mark and April. This will end up keeping Meredith and Derek there and Alex will stay out of loyalty to Arizon since she will be out of work recooperating unless she dies too, she was spitting up blood. We know they will be found since all of their contracts were signed. Seriously Shondra, can't you leave Derek and Meredith out of all of the accidents? They've been shot, had a bomb blow up right at them and they have been put thru hell. I hope they all come back. At the end of last week I sat on my sofa and so oh my God when it showed them in the crash. This week just ripped at my heart. Thank you for atleast letting Derek and

I can't believe they killed her! O.M.G. that was so sad, I cried like a baby. And it wasn't sad just because she died but because of Mark being too late to tell her all he felt for her. It was hearbreaking to hear him say all the details about the life they were supposed to have together and that whole, "You can't die because we're supposed to end up together", God! that killed me; that was the exact reason why all the fans didn't think it was Lexie who was going to die. They WERE supposed to end up together. Also, Owen and Teddie, those two broke my heart too. I thought if Christina left that left a window for them to try things together by I guess that' not happening either.

April will take the now vacant Resident slot that Lexie leaves and I expect Avery to stay out of love for April and loyalty to a heartbroken Mark. If Alex is staying then I fear for the health of Arizona, however I somehow can't see Arizona dying - that would just be a bit too much. As for MerDer, it'll be interesting to see how they recover without moving.
The one real unknown will be where Series 9 picks up. I hope it picks up from where it left off, as that allows for some fantastic story arcs (reaction to the crash, rescue, treatment, mourning, recovery, coming to terms, etc) and I hope they don't skip a few weeks / months as they have done before, as that would be missing a trick.

Disappointed. I really did feel very flat after the finale!
Not so much in the storyline, but in the technicalities! I mean how can a plane crash and be missing for 2 days and nobody a) apparently notice, and b)be able to find it? How could anyone survive a high speed crash into dense solid woodland with no clearings? How could such a crash be apparently invisible to the helicopter? Why did the aviation fuel not catch fire? As for the "fire," why on earth did nobody collect firewood?!
As for the story, well it was clear from the trailers that Lexie was toast. Its a shame, I liked Lexie! I wasn't expecting Teddy to be fired though - that came out of left field! However it leaves the space open for Christina as Cardio attending. (Those who are asking about who she will learn from are forgetting that she is now an attending, with offers of research labs, and she had already outgrown Teddy. Christina is now the master!). BRING HER BACK!!!i hope they realise they lost a great deal of fans after the last episode??????????????????Everybody liked Lexie!!!!And for a lot of people including me she was the favorite character!!!!She had a story going on and o great love with Mark.for me it is the best couple in all tvshows!!!I wish Shonda regrets this and bring her back!!!i already miss her....She is a great actres and Lexies caracter was the best!!!!!i will see the premiere and if Lexie is gone(witch i think is 90% true)i ll quit the show.....it disapointed me this year and the only reason i was watching it was Lexie+Mark....Shonda promised a good ending between them and she gives us this????no tnx......
