I'm pretty sure it's Adele.
If not her then possibly Arizona or maybe Callie. I would be fine if Hunt or Teddy or die, but that's unlikely. I also really hope it's not Lexie (or Mark).

Its defiantly Arizona. I mean, it has to be! After the speech that she just gave Callie, its classic! Also, in the promo half her body is under the plane.
And to top it off. She's pregnant in real life with her third child. This may be her way out of the show to be a full time mummy.
But if this is all true. I'm gonna die. life without my Calzona fix once a week is not a very good life!

Meredith looked really pale. I think everyone will be looking for Derek, they'll find him, and she will pass out with internal injuries and they won't be able to save her before they are rescued. Her contract may have been renewed but that doesn't mean she's not being viewed by her friends as a ghostly piece of their imaginations. Christina asking her for advice, Derek talking to her about what he should do as a parent, etc.

i also think its alex because they didnt show him in the promo and i think they want to make it a shocker.
the whole episode is probably going to be about finding derek and them thinking that he died. mark and christina are going to save lexie and mark is going to realize that he loves her and they will get back together. i think alex is the one to die because after his death owen will have enough money for april to come back and work their. meredith will stay and christina will stay as well.
if it is not alex why would he turn down hopkins?

I think mark is going to die! They didn't show him on the plane but he was in the lobby wearing a jacket and carrying a suitcase just before everyone left!! and its also not confirmed that he signed a contract!!

Oh, and as for the rest of them: April's pregnant, or just messed up, so Jackson stays/comes back to take care of her; Derek's hurt so his job at Harvard gets cancelled, which makes him and Meredith stay; Cristina leaves, but she misses Meredith and Hunt so she comes back/she realizes how much she loves Hunt after the crash and stays; Mark and Lexie end up admitting their love and get back into the break up-get together-break up rollercoaster; Alex feels guilty because Arizona got hurt on the plane (he was supposed to go), so he tries to make it up to her and comfort her after Callie's death, therefore turning down Hopkins/coming back from there. Webber continues the affair with Catherine. The only character I don't have an idea about is Teddy, cause her storyline kinda played out.

Hey, remember the Izzy/George situation? No way it's as obvious as the people we see get hurt on the promo. Or anybody else on the crashed plane. My money's on Callie, especially after that teary promise she gave to Arizona. She's been on the show the longest (apart from the safe 6) , and to have her hit by a car or stabbed by an aggressive patient while everyone is focused on the crash is very Shonda-style. Besides, she's Mark's friend and the mother of his child, Arizona's wife, Teddy's and Bailey's good friend, and she grew closer with Meredith while teaching her for the boards. But I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

All this comments are scaring the hell out of me. I didn't even think of the possibility of Derek dying, because I thought the renewing of the contracts meant that he would definitely stay. In the promo you can see that Mer, Christina and Mark are fine, so if someone from the plane crash dies it will be derek, arizona or Lexie. But if it is someone at Seattle, it will be Callie or Alex, because Adele, April, Teddy, Avery and Hunt don't seem to be such 'beloved' characters. So I think it's Lexie, Derek, Arizona, Callie or Alex... And I don't want any of them to die! =(

I think. It's bailey and she takes a job at UClA with her boyfriend. Leaves the show but has an option to return later.

The promo info SL sounds wrong now when you think about the plane crash. I should imagine all the plans of Benailey, Webber and Altman are gonna be forgotten as soon as news of the crash come through

I think dereck ,will be seriosly injured cancelling harvard. Lexie and arizonia probably injured. But i believe the one to die will be callie, possibly car accident. Several hints in the last episodes, her promise to arizonia, arizona request for legal papers for the baby in aprevious episode. Either way what a great show.
I think...I wish the one who will die, the lovable person Shonda was talking about is Adele and Shonda just give us the flight and plane crash to miss up with our heads, while the really one who's dying is Adele, But with very huge injuries to Derek, Arizona & Lexie, which will make Derek choose Seattle, Alex stay because Arizona is hurt and Lexie will get back to Mark, Maybe April will be messed-up too which make Jackson stays

When i first saw the promo for the final episode I thought i had it all worked out... Lexie was going to die.
the reason I thought this was for a couple of reasons. They had just announced that the original cast members had signed their contracts and they were safe in my eyes.
Its was said that Jackson and Mark were safe also
The whole "bittersweet" reunion between Mark and Lexie. Her dying would definitely fit that.
Shonda has said that owen and Yang still have a journey ahead NEXT season.
So in my eyes it was Lexie or Arizona. It had to have a big impact on the hospital and they really would.
Mark and Mer are so devistated that Lexie dies Derek rethinks Harvard and stays.
Christina can't leave her best friend with a dead sister and injured hubby and stays too. That would take care of Yang Mer and Derek coming back to SG.
Arizona and Callie would be effected by what Mark is going through.
As i was reading other posts though I started to rethink everything a little bit.

I just really hope it's not April. There is so much character development going on for her right now. But it would make the most sense to me since after all she is a beloved character as one was able to perceive in the yesterday's episode. All the residents cared about her state and felt sorry for her and she has also been developing friendships.
Please don't let her die! She has just become really interesting.
An option that has not been discussed yet is Hunt dying?
But I hope it's Callie or Teddy.
In safe: Meredith, Derek, Cristina, Alex, Bailey and Webber. They signed two-year contracts. Mark and Jackson are in safe too.

That being said, my money is on Lexie (which will crush me because I am definitely on Team Slexie), Arizona or April. Lexie and Arizona would bring on the most tears, but April is kind of growing on me. The interesting thing would be to see what Shonda does with April's story line with no job, no prospects and no reason to be at the hospital. But that seems awfully obvious and it's just like her to throw a red herring into the mix to throw everyone off. Maybe she'd be stuck in the clinic or the pit. :) BTW, does anyone remember an episode where April even did a solo surgery?
If Lexie does die, I'd rather see Mark with Teddy than with Julia. She went creepy with the whole let's have a baby thing. Kind of stalker-like. Who has fertility testing before you even have a conversation with your partner about procreating? Really weird!!

Okay, a few "facts":
1. Shonda said that she had to write the finale before contract negotiations were complete so it's written in such a way that if a regular didn't come back it would make sense next season.
2. Whoever dies will be a "beloved" character, hence all the crying at the table read.
3. All of the regulars have signed two year contracts. I doubt seriously that they're going to break their contract at this point. I can't imagine that we're going to have two years of another ghost character either. Been there, did that.
4. Shonda said that she realized after George that some characters can't die. I'd have to believe that Derek is one of those characters since he, Meredith, Cristina and perhaps Bailey are the heart of the show. Others may be loved, but the show revolves around those four, especially the first three. The show can continue with our friends at other hospitals even though that wouldn't be optimal or cost effective. That's a lot of new sets to build.

I have to agree with Leia because its probably not going to be derek but if he was sucked ou of the plane he would be dead , thats not very realistic.. and this tragedy adds nothing they already had the ferry thing and the shooting. I dont get shonda, she said she didnt know who was coming back when she wrote the season 8 finale , but still she does this thing, I mean if Pompeo and Dempsey wont come back (I think they will though I read it somewhere) this is how the end of Merder will look like. On a plane crash. -.-

I've read some of the other comments, and some are saying Lexie will die. That seemes unlikely to me because of the whole mark-lexie thing. I think they will be together next season, because Lexie gets injured and mark realizes he only loves her.
Others say its Arizona that will die. It's possible, but I don't think so, its to obvious. I think it's someone who wasnt on the plane, maybe webber. His time has come. I dont think april, because a beloved character would die, and we are all hoping april will die and that makes her not really beloved.
But everyone is talking about who will die, I just want to know what happened to Derek. He was sucked out of the plane, so he's probably very seriously injured, and you can see Mer looking for him and the end of the promo, so maybe she leaves the crash site to look for him alone, and something happens to her? But I think she wont be the one to die, they already kind of did that with the whole ferry thing.

The more I think about it, the more I think it's not someone from the crash. It might be probably Teddy, Jackson, April or still Adele !!! (that would be heartbreaking too).
I think Lexie is gonna survive, and Mark is going to realize he might have lost her, and he's gonna dump Julia for her. Owen is gonna fear for Cristina, and they'll get back together. This plane crash will make residents think about their lives and they might decide to stay in Seattle.
Meredith: People change, but they don't change.
