NCIS to Explore Love ... in an Elevator?

at . Comments

It was no accident that fan favorites Tony and Ziva ended up in an elevator at the tail end of NCIS Season 9 ... which makes sense, considering that most people take the stairs during an evacuation.

Where does that leave them when we pick up next fall, in the aftermath of the explosion that destroyed the agency's headquarters? Show-runner Gary Glasberg weighed in on that with TV Guide.

"We'll pick up with them in that elevator and, with the situation that they're in, there will be some conversations," he says. "Hopefully we'll scratch our way a little bit deeper into the relationship."

How's that for ambiguity? Read into it however you like. Time will tell if it serves as an actual turning point for the "couple," but either way, those are guaranteed to be must-watch scenes.

Anthony and Ziva

Tony and Ziva aren't the only ones in precarious positions after the end of "Til Death Do Us Part."

As for whether the team will end up with new digs after the bombing, that's unclear, but the emotional cleanup of the team will be more significant than the physical rubble, Glasberg says.

"There are psychological ramifications that will carry over," he says, in particular Ducky's heart attack.

"How will that affect his character as a medical examiner and his long-held approach to dealing with the dead? How might it change him and the way he views things?"

We welcome your theories on that in the comments below. Follow the link for more NCIS Season 10 spoilers, and tell us how you think things will shake out with Ducky, Tony, Ziva and everyone else ...

I guess that some of the "who will survive" tension is broken now, huh? AJA, I agree with you that Tony seems to have gotten MORE immature as time has passed. Ducky has even used terms like "narcissistic" and "pathological need for admiration". What's up with that? And I still can't get over the switch from him playing football to basketball. If he were a two-sport athlete, that would be something that Tony would surely brag about.

I agree NCIS is becoming CSI too much foucs on one character

I agree with some of what Michael says.....Tiva would change the dynamics of the show. Storylines would cater to them as a couple, CSI anyone? Someone said the last episode of the entire season, I agree. The sexual tension between them is good. Changing that would change all the characters essences.

@amanda i really think michael has issues with what he writes and we all try to ignore him but i know smtimes you cant.

To Amanda - Is that kind of post really necessary? Feel free to dispute, argue, completely debunk and disagree with me, Michael or any other poster, but must you be cruel and personal? It's ugly no matter who engages in it.

Michael, you are the joke of this fandom. Go on Tumblr, everybody is laughing at you.

OMG!! I am totally a Tiva fan and have been dying for them to get together. Oh I just wish they would hurry up and bring on Season 10 but I know it'll be a while. I was devastated at the finale and I'm glad Ducky makes it - wouldn't be the same if he left - or if any of them left for a matter of fact. Can't live without them!! :) :)

Wow! My first time commenting on any TV show. Where I live people don't like Ziva because she's been in the US 8 years (?) but still doesn't correctly speak english slang. Honestly I never really noticed before a friend pointed it out.
I think the dynamics of the show would change if Ziva and Tony dated. It would make them lousy agents because it would most definitely affect their job! NCIS is good because of all the characters. Although McGee looks ill. Haven't heard any reports that he is ill but he looks sick.

First of all I want to say a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge sorry for my bad english, I'm still learning so... I hope you understand what I write
I hope Tony and Ziva get together finaly, and even with me being a Ziva fan, I would like the show more if the focus wouldn't be on ONE character for so long. they make it like Gibbs Gibbs Gibbs Abby Abby Tony Tony Tony Tony Ducky Ducky Ducky Ducky Ziva Ziva Ziva McGee McGee Vance Vance Palmer Palmer... I think it would be better if it was Ziva Abby Ducky Tony (I think we already now waaaaaaaay more about Gibbs than about the others) no Vance and a little Palmer, One pro Episode and not one pro Season! and I'd LOVE to see more about the past (e.g: Ziva and her family when she's a child or Tony's mother or so

Gibb's rule 12 really holds no water. He dates people he works with. They may not be NCIS agents, but they are co-workers...Col Mann, Dr Ryan, Jenny Shepard. You might even count the lawyer lady (can't recall character name) that was working with clients having to deal with NCIS. I think Gibbs would actually be happy to see them finally get together. He thinks very highly of Tony and Ziva is like a daughter to him. In fact I could see him giving both of them a head slap and telling them "It's about time, just keep it out of the office!"

NCIS Quotes

Tony: One other question, I know you're an expert in English history. And I was just wondering, have you ever heard of Archibald Drummond, the 17th Earl of Trent?
Ducky: The Earl of Trent. No, I can't say I have. Why?
Tony: I was just wondering. Thanks.

McGee: All right. Well you should probably know that Abby and I used to date?
Bishop: Ew. Like, each other?
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: Wait - isn't that a violation of rule 12, never date a....
McGee: It was a long time ago. After we'd broken up, one night I went to her lab. Found a scribbled piece paper; a list. Potential boyfriends had to fulfill certain conditions by a pre-arranged date or else, goodbye.
Bishop: Such as.
McGee: Things started off relatively normal: opening the door for her, flowers, putting the seat down. Then around number 8, it gets uh...
Bishop: What?
McGee: Does she know you have these?
Bishop: Does she know you have these?
McGee: Yeah she wasn't happy when she found out.
Bishop: These are all very specific.
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: These ideas apply to you?
McGee: No those rules weren't in place when we were together. At least I don't think so.
Bishop: What's with the two month cutoff? Abby's sabotaging herself. I've seen stuff like this before. We have to talk to her.
