Rocky Carroll Returning to NCIS This Fall

at . Comments

NCIS cast member Rocky Carroll, who plays the enigmatic agency director Leon Vance, has closed a new deal to remain with the long-running CBS procedural, according to reports.

Carroll will play Vance, who has also appeared on NCIS: Los Angeles, throughout the upcoming season.

It's unclear how often he will appear in NCIS Season 10. Director Vance's prolonged absences were notable at times in Season 9, though he played key roles in a number of episodes.

Whether he appears in a reduced number of installments again remains to be seen, but he'll be back.

David McCallum (Ducky) recently signed on for another two years with Gibbs and Co., and despite the way the Season 9 finale ended, all indications are that his character will survive.

NCIS mainstays and fan favorites Michael Weatherly (Tony), Pauley Perrette (Abby) and Sean Murray (McGee), are still in negotiations to return next season, but should return as well.

Show-runner Gary Glasberg recently said he has “no doubt that it will all work out” to bring the cast back intact, and Weatherly's contract negotiations also dragged out two years ago.

Ok first of all abby is the least bitchy character on this show. Probably one of the least bitchy characters on tv. Second of all the reason why dinozzo is not as good as before is because wether you realize it or not he is growing accual respect for McGee. Now finally I know why people are saying to make or break tiva. They have accualy grown respect for each other and they actually care. But their fan base is still sstanding strong.

OK, first of all, I didn't like Director Vance at first. I mean his first play as the new director was to break up the team. However, we found out that he had his reasons and he deffinetly has had Gibbs' back throughout the show. As for the rest of the comments about the one's still yet to sign contracts: Abby a bitch? Really? Get real. I don't know what she has going on in her personnal life but, she is one of my favorite characters. As for tony, I can take him or leave him. McGee is also great. I didn't think so at first but, he has grown on me and I hope he is back.

(Con'td from previous post) he would've been FIRED a long time ago!! But if Ziva likes him, then that's fine. She's probably the only woman willing to put up with his sporatic nonsense, since she seems to understand him. Tony IS a good man; he just needs a strong woman to help keep him grounded - he hasn't had any Matronly influences in his life to help "guide" him, as he lost his mother at a very early age, and his father is..well...not around much at all (and never was). By the way: McGee is NO "Slouch"!!! He may be "soft-hearted" or not as macho(and I love him for that), but he CAN hold his own against DiNozzo. He/Ziva/Gibbs give it back to Tony now just as good as he gives it. It has taken a long, LONG time for DiNozzo to mature, but I think he is beginning to show signs of that maturity, finally.

@Binx - Hi. I couldn't agree more about Vance. Btw..this thread stopped being "just about Vance" a LONG time ago as you can see; too late for that. Leon Vance is the BEST Director NCIS has ever had as an agency. He was created as a tribute to the REAL NCIS Ret. Agent Leon C., so "Vance" is here to stay until the end of the series, which is nearer than some of us care to accept. Jenny was good, but she's no Vance. The way he clashes w/ Gibbs on many issues has become classic NCIS lore. As for Tony - You're 100% right. Tony has been a Supporter, an Instigator, a Jerk, an Idiot, and sometime "Big Brother" to Tim, when he feels like it. He's great agent, but so aren't the others on Team Gibbs. Certain viewers just like to sugarcoat or ignore his often rude & unprofessional behavior just b/c he's "Tony", while they hypocritically vilify Ziva & hold her behavior under a microscope. I've always said: if this were real life I wouldn't touch Tony w/ a ten foot pole - and he would've been FIRED a long time ago!! But if Ziva likes him, then that's fine. She's probably the only woman willing to put up w/ his sporatic nonsense. And Btw..Tim's no slouch. He/Ziva/Gibbs give it back to Tony now just as good as he gives it.

@Nat: Very well put.
Now about Rocky Carroll (Leon Vance) staying; I like him...a lot, even if he's not my favorite. So I'm all for him to do his trick as the NCIS Director.
I see a lot of Tiva being discussed, here. I believe there's another thread for this. However, since we're at it, I might just as well add opinion, too. I'm definitely not in favor or Tiva and feel like the season's finale has Tony and Ziva in the elevator just to suit the Tiva fans as if there are no other NCIS fans but...those. I've been an NCIS fan for years and love ALL the characters and while I like the tidbits we learn of their lives, I'd also like to see some more real action. Not only Ziva and her Mossad skills or Gibbs the sniper, but also Tony and Tim.
One other thing: what's this about the others never showing Tony the respect he deserves? How about him? How about the countless times he harrassed McGee?

@Mary - I understand your frustration - TRUST me - but don't worry about Weatherly or any of the actors. They're doing their job on the show, as they're supposed to. NCIS is now - and always WILL be - about Leroy J. Gibbs. He is the Star of the show. This is not "TCIS", so Tony will always take a backseat to the Boss, until he becomes a team leader someday, and the show will end b/c Weatherly, although funny & talented, is NO Mark Harmon. There can only be one Gibbs. He (MW) can speak out all he wants, but CBS pays his salary, so he'll do as he's told, regardless!! I think the cast is very professional, and viewers tune in to be entertained by a show they like; nobody gives a crap what the actors' personal viewpoints are. This is Show Business, after all.

WOW - this is a heated area of the NCIS section!! :-O @Guest2: I've got some bad news for you: you should probably find a different show to watch, because NCIS will F-O-R-E-V-E-R be known in TV History as a procedural drama that's purely CHARACTER DRIVEN. Every single actor on NCIS has referred to it as being exactly that, and THAT is the reason for its longevity & great success. NCIS will ALWAYS be "Personal", because it's about the TEAM. Viewers are intrigued with the TEAM and their "personal" LIVES. The storyline plots are just filler to pass the time. Viewers WANT to see more of the team: Gibbs & his love interests, Tony & Ziva, Tim & Abby, etc. THAT is why the majority are tuning in, so of course CBS gives the viewers want they want, otherwise NCIS would have been off the air a long time ago. The "basics" of NCIS is that the show IS a "Personal" Drama, and always will be.

Abby? A bitch? Really? All you haters out there can spin things however you want... But please that's going a little far isn't it??

I am not sure why Michael Weatherly is dragging this out..he is not going to be the "Top Dog" of the show..I am sick of his arrogant behavior, needs to be funny not degrading to others...he has shown himself to be that way in real life too..Such as shame..He can act but needs to seperate real life from acting. He is not the best actor on it so he needs to accept least he has a job to go back to and be greatful. I lost respect for him when I saw several posting from him directly just made me not like him even more.

NCIS Quotes

Tony: One other question, I know you're an expert in English history. And I was just wondering, have you ever heard of Archibald Drummond, the 17th Earl of Trent?
Ducky: The Earl of Trent. No, I can't say I have. Why?
Tony: I was just wondering. Thanks.

McGee: All right. Well you should probably know that Abby and I used to date?
Bishop: Ew. Like, each other?
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: Wait - isn't that a violation of rule 12, never date a....
McGee: It was a long time ago. After we'd broken up, one night I went to her lab. Found a scribbled piece paper; a list. Potential boyfriends had to fulfill certain conditions by a pre-arranged date or else, goodbye.
Bishop: Such as.
McGee: Things started off relatively normal: opening the door for her, flowers, putting the seat down. Then around number 8, it gets uh...
Bishop: What?
McGee: Does she know you have these?
Bishop: Does she know you have these?
McGee: Yeah she wasn't happy when she found out.
Bishop: These are all very specific.
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: These ideas apply to you?
McGee: No those rules weren't in place when we were together. At least I don't think so.
Bishop: What's with the two month cutoff? Abby's sabotaging herself. I've seen stuff like this before. We have to talk to her.
