It does not matter which way she goes because she will still be a plot device.

In fact technically Bonnie should go psycho on Elena because Elena turning makes all the lives lost over to protect her and their lost of her identity (Bonnie's) completely meaningless and quite frankly the most tragic part of Elena's turning.
Also if they were worry about comparisons over BTVS why the hell did make Bonnie a witch, not just leave her as an effing druid?
But guess what we don't have to worry about dark Bonnie as that would actually be an interesting character (Caroline got less interesting as she had no character growth because of love triangles bull and scenes that she was out of place).
think she should remember even after Willow returned to being herself there was a definite separation between her and the group
The thing is.. There was no "herself" BEFORE it. Willow was always about masking her emotions. She was always in pain, loathing her uselessness, etc, inside, but everyone around her failed to notice that. First she used the "mask" of nerdy calm girl to hide her inner turmoil, then magic and "hip college chick" thing. her going dark was everything she kept suppressed erupting. It was the first time she actually said exactly what she thought and how she felt.
so yeh, as much as her being a homicidal loony bin material was a roadblock for the friendship with everyone afterward, so was the real her, which nicely paralleled Buffy's own separation from the "group" as majority of them were unable to accept far less stellar and far less "heroic" real side of her she kept hidden from teh start behind the mask that kept falling apart with each tragedy.

As someone who been a supporter of dark Bonnie arc since season 2 the problem is it bit late to do it, Willow going dark had to do with her being addicted to magic and her gaining a superiority complex. I think the reason for Bonnie going dark has been there since the whole sacrifice at which the Brothers pretty much devalue Bonnie and have since then constantly made it known her life means nothing and Elena in some way has always put the brothers before those who been her life longer. The writers missed Dark Bonnie as Dark Bonnie should have happen when Abby's neck got snapped and Stefan made Bonnie think he was going to kill her, then but the dipshits had the nerve to still ask for help and even joke about it. She should have been psycho on them since then, and including Elena whose stupidity led to that moment. In fact technically Bonnie should go psycho on Elena because Elena turning makes all the lives lost over to protect her and their lost of her identity (Bonnie's) completely m

I think she should remember even after Willow returned to being herself there was a definite separation between her and the group (like even with Xander even though he was the one to pull her back) and even the audience. I don't think there was ever real trust again (like there seemed to be doubt she would or could do the spell to awaken the slayers). Heck, didn't we all kind of look suspiciously at Alyson Hanigan on HIMYM for about the first season before we could start to think Lily.

When will this game of "Lets Pretend Everyone On This Show Has A Dark Side Yet We Never See It For More Than 5 mins" end? Seriously, it already hilarious that they are trying to make us believe Elena will go badass dark on us as a vampire, but with Bonnie its just plain stupid because pouting and being cross for 5 minutes then forgiving everyone else does not count as ooooh she has a dark side too. Also that line of "I don't know which way we'll go with her in season four"...same could be said for the other characters as well.
And that's (almost) the whole last season in a nutshell.
Sadly yes. They wrote as they went along since mid-S2 when they changed entire storyline surrounding originals because "actor playing elijah was awesome". Plec has a strong case of actor bias, refusing to kill off any actors she likes(seriously, direct quote of her in S2 "Elijah was so awesome so we made him more and more unkillable" - is that a good way to write stuff?)
S3 however seemed like they had no fucking idea on what to do so we got 21 episodes of fillers till "big" "ELENA TURNS" moment which would have worked way better at the end of S1, since S3 and S2 added NOTHING AT ALL to elena's character and just made her even worse and more bland

(continued): At least the writers have the decency to now admit that not all their ideas are original ones. They rip off from Buffy and Twilight (something they couldn't stop bashing back in the S1. How ironic now that Twilight appears better). At least i think so but thats just my opinion. What else (or who else) are they going to have doubts about next.

I can't believe I will write this but I agree with BORED NOW.
Willow was so well developed and U really saw her going mad for a reason. She was clingy and couldn't handle people leaving her, she always wanted more power but was under pressure and it was really well developed from the moment she started using magic to the moment she overused it!
Bonnie does not have that and one thing the witches from the other side did can't change her essence.
Turn her Jealous and isolate her but don't try to change someone into something she never showed connection to.
Bonnie never struggled with her decision of being a good girl.
i love Vampire Diaries :)

They also know that if they take the "Dark Bonnie" route, its inevitable that she will be compared to Willow and that "Dark Bonnie" might just end up being a failure just like "Ripper" Stefan was. Maybe even worse. At the same time, its too late to really care what happens to Bonnie because the writers didnt develop her very well. I guess they know that they've written themselves into a corner.

Like Elena, i don't believe that Bonnie can go "dark" because she has no personality, no flaws and sadly isnt a very well developed character. She hasn't developed enough as a witch to become "dark"! She isn't anywhere near darkness that it could be believable! There was no build up of any kind, for that! In fact, Bonnie hasn't developed very much, at all, as a witch other than doing very basic things like making flowers blossom, things float and lighting fire. The "big" spells shes almost always relied on her ancestors for help, and was never independent. I think the writers have written themselves into a corner concerning Bonnie.

@Pink cameleon The show is surely gone. Fans are still spaming ABC family's fb page, and there was hope! But Kevin Williamson announced in an Interview that the show won't be picked up. I'm really sad, but the witches are gone.
Well at least Plec does seem to no longer pretend that what they are writing is original.
As for Bonnie. No sorry. Plec tried to do her version of Angel with Steffie, she FAILED MISERABLY. Anything Plec tried to rip off from BTVS, failed miserably.
Willow and her plotline worked PERFECTLY BECAUSE she was a VERy well developed character, with a lot of character development, interesting flawed personality and long, slow-burning, but awesome and consistent build up. Bonnie has none of these.

I want her to go her own way! SHe always wanted to protect someone. Now she doesn't have to. Elena is a Vamp, She can protect Jeremy, Mat has Barbie Klaus. So she can take of that I MUST PROTECT everyone burden.
She can really use her magic, like Esther did.
