For a show that has had so few significant missteps, the ones in "Nutcracker in Paradise" are really jarring.
I understand how Michelle macing the girls was meant to work as a metaphor, but if Michelle mistook it for hairspray, then why was she spraying it in the girls' eyes in the first place?
The aftermath at the hospital worked very well, but then that "Dead Poets Society" moment came out of nowhere (moments like that NEED to be set up), and was entirely out of character for the bunheads, who up to now never showed the slightest savvy regarding any references to films older than they.
And while I loved Boo and Carl dancing to "Rainbow Connection", that cover was just painfully bad.

There was news that they renewed the series. I thought it looked more like a series finale than a season finale though. No idea how they will start a second season after this.

the dance Ringer they brought in from San Fran. possibly sabotaged the spray with the mace?

Entertaining but atypical pace and the ending was contrived.
