The Office Casts Dwight's Brother

by at . Comments

The doors of Dunder Mifflin may be closing. But the fences on Dwight Schrute's farm could be swinging wide open in the near future.

NBC has cast another relative for Rainn Wilson's supporting character, who is rumored to become the lead in a spinoff that will feature Dwight, his sister, his nephew and his brother all running a bed and breakfast.

And sources now confirm that Thomas Middleditch has landed the latter role.

The actor, currently starring in The Campaign, will portray Jeb, the third new member of the Schrute family who Office viewers will meet in a backdoor pilot early in Season 9 and who will become a regular if The Farm (working title) is picked up by NBC.

Jeb is described as the antithesis of Dwight. He has found success running a pot farm, but generally lacks ambition and a hard work ethic.

The Office Quotes

Guess what, I have flaws. What are they? Oh, I don't know. I sing in the shower. Sometimes I spend too much time volunteering. Occasionally I'll hit somebody with my car. So sue me... No, don't sue me. That is the opposite of the point that I'm trying to make.

When I was in college I used to get wicked hammered. My nickname was puke. I would chug a fifth of socos, sneak into a frat party, polish off a few people's empties, some brewskies, some Jell-O shots, do some body shots off myself, pass out, wake up the next morning, puke, rally, more soco, head to class. Probably would have gotten expelled if I had let it affect my grades, but I aced all my courses. They called me Ace. It was totally awesome. Got straight B's. They called me Buzz.
