NCIS Burning Question: Where is McGee?

by at . Comments

Where is Tim?

It's a question many NCIS fans have been asking since May, and one Gary Glasberg touched on in a recent interview with Xfinity. Regarding why McGee isn't in any Season 10 promos, the executive producer says:

"You know what? Everyone reacted to the promo we put out because we didn’t see him. I wish I could take credit for that. I am happy everyone is guessing. McGee has an interesting story."

"He is always there for us for any technological snafu. There is some really fun stuff that is coming up with him. We are going to touch on his personal life. It is no mistake that he talks to his grandmother and discusses his father."

"We will have to see later in the season where that goes."

For anyone concerned that McGee had somehow been killed off ... exhale.

Regarding the overall theme of this season and beyond, Glasberg adds:

"It is the tenth season of our show. That alone is an accomplishment. Moving forward from season ten, I want to dive into these characters even more than we have in the last ten years."

"Part of that is seeing them when they are facing adversity, when they have been hurt and they are down, and watching them rise back up again. That [common theme], whether it is directly touched upon or indirectly, does sort of carry through in a lot of the storylines that we are doing.”

I love McGee! It takes a team, and McGee adds his special brand of know-how and personality. And I too love the personal episodes!

The trouble with McGee is his character is to damn boring, he does not have the same back ground as DiNozzo or Ziva, he has not done much undercover assignments, he knows how do process a crime scene and he is good with computers.

I think we'll get more with McGee this year than we have the last couple of seasons.

I love personal episodes that provide a whole new side of the characters, it's much better than a typical find the killer episode... Cannot wait!

I will not hold my breath on McGee to still being anything more then a bit character with no scenes or no real espoide for himself. Like normal I expect him to have few lines and few scenes while they promote Tiva and Gibbs.

NCIS Quotes

McGee: All right. Well you should probably know that Abby and I used to date?
Bishop: Ew. Like, each other?
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: Wait - isn't that a violation of rule 12, never date a....
McGee: It was a long time ago. After we'd broken up, one night I went to her lab. Found a scribbled piece paper; a list. Potential boyfriends had to fulfill certain conditions by a pre-arranged date or else, goodbye.
Bishop: Such as.
McGee: Things started off relatively normal: opening the door for her, flowers, putting the seat down. Then around number 8, it gets uh...
Bishop: What?
McGee: Does she know you have these?
Bishop: Does she know you have these?
McGee: Yeah she wasn't happy when she found out.
Bishop: These are all very specific.
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: These ideas apply to you?
McGee: No those rules weren't in place when we were together. At least I don't think so.
Bishop: What's with the two month cutoff? Abby's sabotaging herself. I've seen stuff like this before. We have to talk to her.

McGee: You know something I don't? Working tonight and tomorrow night?
Tony: No, Tim. It's just that Zoe's parents are in town and they want to have dinner. I'm not ready for that.
Abby: So you deceived her.
Tony: I was put on the spot. I was not prepared.
McGee: Whoa. Hey. What are you afraid of?
Tony: I don't know.
Abby: They're probably really nice.
Tony: I'm sure they are. I've just never had dinner with the parents of a woman I'm seriously involved with.
McGee: That's not true. What about Jon Benois?
Tony: No, technically that wasn't me because I was undercover as Tony DiNardo, professor of film studies. I wasn't myself back then. Meeting the parents for dinner could trigger a whole chain of events.
Abby: It's just dinner, Tony.
Tony: You have dinner yet with Ranger Burt's parents? I didn't think so. Then put down the gavel, take off the robe and stop judging, both of you.
Abby: Okay.
