Castle Review: Hamptons Heat

at . Comments

Busted!! A weekend away for our favorite couple led to a murder and a secret leaking. "Murder, He Wrote” took Castle and Beckett to the Hamptons to find a dead body and to be outed as a couple. Time to talk Castle...

Breaking Rich. A wealthy weekender is found dead in Castle’s pool after being shot. Having been involved in a bank scandal, clues point to a former colleague that the victim had testified against. In a twist, the victim and his colleague had been setting up meth labs in different buildings around the city.

Caskett Sighting

This show is usually on point with the twists and turns it throws out during the weekly case. This murder? Not so much. Having the head of the marina be the killer made sense, but in the last 30 seconds, it turned out to be a local deputy who didn’t like the wealthy weekenders. This ending didn’t make complete sense for the fact that the killer was someone we had seen on screen for maybe all of two minutes.

On the other hand, the case was fun and it got Castle and Beckett some what out as a couple...

Describe Her! Ryan helped out with the case by interviewing suspects back in the city. Luckily, one of them had had already spoken with Castle and Beckett.

How much did you love Ryan’s reaction to the news that it was Kate out there with Castle? The actors on this show are impeccable with their facial reactions.

So the secret is slowly coming out. Martha, Alexis and Ryan now know about the couple. Who is next?

“We Are Caskett.” Not only was this quote so hilarious, especially since it came after a Brangelina jab, but it recognized all of the shippers out there. Since Season One, Caskett has been a couple us at TV Fanatic have rooted for, and now they are an official couple with an official name. LOVE IT! After Thoughts:

  • Quick sightings of Lanie, Martha, and Alexis. Looks like the ladies are working their way back on our screens!
  • How ridiculous was Castle’s beach house? Kate Beckett is one lucky woman.
  • Ryan is such a good friend that he is going to keep the secret of Castle and Beckett to himself.
  • A fear of getting this couple together now would be that the stories would suffer. Have to say, these two work as a couple so well, it doesn’t seem awkward at all.
What a fun episode! The series continues with its light hearted and enjoyable episodes. What did you think, TV Fanatics? Hit up the comments and let us know what you thought of Caskett’s weekend adventure. And don’t forget to check back for the official Castle Round Table later in the week. No new episode next Monday! Until then, Castle fans!

I liked the reference to "Tying the Knot." Third time's the charm I hear. The hastily and clumsily tied knot, the first one, really tripped Castle up. The second (and maybe someday, the third?) are deliberately neat. I suppose it depends upon why you are tying the knot.

@Turquoise: WHAT is this thing against marriage a disturbing number of people seem to have? I personally can't for that proposal, for several reasons. I agree that 'Bones' muffed Booth/Brennan up, but seeing as they did that in the fourth season and never stopped, the get-together wasn't going to do anything BUT suck. However, this is 'Castle' - and you can't have fun forever. Marriage is the next step when you truly love someone and want to spend your life with them. I'm sorry you don't feel that way, but don"t wish it on the rest of us, please? As for this ep, I laughed until I cried at Ryan' interrogation and the phone call with Castle after.

LOVED this episode. Only false note to me was the 5 o'clock scene - Ryan and Esposito both know that C&B are in love. Rick was just way too perky considering that he should be massively jealous and bummed-out that she's going off for the weekend with her 'new boyfriend'. Castle's a better liar than that, and they would have either called him on it or remarked on how pathetic he is, after the fact. But it was played for laughs and very funny. Ryan's interrogation scene was absolutely priceless. I loved the Eddie Vedder/ukulele song "longing to belong". I thought it set the mood really well for Kate's wistfulness when they arrive at this big, elegant house with all of Rick's memories in it - none of them including her. They played her sense of intimidation and disconnection really well, just by timing how they moved through the space together and apart. Very human. This is definitely in my top 20 favorites, maybe on second viewing, top 10.

it was okay, but loathed the house porn. this inreased emphasis on Castle's weath is a bit much. All of the sudden the audience cares more because he is dating Kate? probably, but talk about rubbing our nose in the shallow end of humanity.

They are a great couple! But if in the future Kate becomes pregnant i will stop watching! Loved Bones until all the domestic bliss came into play! Castle and Kate take the advice of someone who knows...have a great relationship, but PLEASE no baby or marriage..

Great episode, loads of fun. But they need to get NF on a treadmill NOW

Unbelievably FUNNY ep!! So much fun!! I laughed my head off - the murder story was just a distraction but hilarious writing - had a GREAT time!!

this show is so well written and the entire cast so engaging it is no surprise that they have such a loyal fan base. i must say I have never heard of writers and the powers at be listening so intently to the desires of their fans!! This was a very sexy, funny, entertaining episode!! just wish during the romantic scenes that the lighting personnel would "lighten up" a bit, it is always so dark when castle and Beckett get together it is hard to see the "action" If they can lighten it up on utube..surely the pros can do it!!

AMAZING episode !!!!

please Michael go away - I dont think I can endure you on this site badmouthing Castle! This was another fun episode - the writers are to be congratulated for making this union work - and when Castle gave them the name Caskett! Obviously someone was reading the past comments. I just want to be sure though that the entire cast remains part of the storylines.
