Hart of Dixie Review: Choices, Cake Knives and Fresh Starts

at . Comments

"I Fall to Pieces" opened right where Hart of Dixie Season 1 left off. The next morning, to be exact. The last thing we saw was that Zoe and Wade had finally consummated their relationship and George ended his engagement with Lemon in the most dramatic way possible.

When Zoe awoke the next day, she saw a sleeping Wade Kinsella and George calling her cell phone. Zoe was definitely conflicted and so she went straight to the person who had been her best friend in Bluebell, Lavon. Obviously not having changed, Lavon laughed at the fact Zoe had slept with Wade, while most of us were saying, "finally!"

Rivals No More?

For most of the opening season I adored Wade and all of his immaturity - but here I can tell you that I definitely did not. I have always wanted Wade and Zoe to be together but after the way he acted, I'm not so sure I feel that way anymore. I guess in a positive light I look forward to watching Wade grow up a bit this season and maybe then I'll change my mind back.

For now, though, I can't say I don't enjoy the "friends with benefits" thing they have going on right now.

Then there was the charming and adorable George, who was very open with his feelings about Zoe in the sweetest way. It was so adorable that it had me thinking that George definitely needed to slow down. Thank goodness Zoe came to that same conclusion at the end of the episode. I completely agree that George needs to date around because Zoe deserves to be more than a rebound.

One thing that I absolutely loved about this episode was the introduction of the newest character, Ruby. Her first comment was about Zoe's shoes and as a fellow fangirl I can definitely agree that Zoe has the best footwear in Bluebell. It was at that moment I knew I'd like Ruby. I hope we continue to see more of a friendship between Ruby and Zoe because she needs a good "girlfriend."

Another thing I enjoyed about Ruby was her past relationship with Lavon; I assume since she'll be staying around we will be getting more of their story.

Let me take a moment to talk about Lemon Breeland. We've only known her as George's fiancé and the crazy lady in Bluebell. Now that she is going to start redefining herself, I will stand by my season one theory that she will be one of the characters that will grow the most in this series. Some of that growth happened tonight and I loved it!

She sat down with Zoe and, even though drugged, she was able to listen to Zoe and take her advice. Lemon said she'll hate her for as long as she lives but can we all agree that their is a small possibility those two will be friends in the future?

I didn't care too much about the "hostage" situation that had the whole small town of Bluebell anxiously waiting outside Zoe's house.

Overall, this was a pretty decent season premiere. They've seemed to change the tone of the show to funnier and much lighter than season one, so far, and I'm glad. I think a tone change needed to be done. I can't wait to see how the rest of this season plays out!

Wade was a jerk, insulting Zoe on her sex sills, once again having the chance to be with her/tell her how he really feels but blowing it.He thinks hes gods gift to women but he's not.Zoe needs to realize choosing neither guy means NOT hopping back in the sack with one of em,she's just biding her time with Wade til George is ready.I want Zoe/George.I loved Lemon/her sl this episode, her becoming independent.

Wow, what a great episode. I think I am now officially a George/Zoe fan! Also, Levon was wonderful as usual!

I just had this feeling the entire episode that at the end, Zoe and Wade would end up in bed together again. George was so clearly on the rebound, it wasn't funny. He wanted to just plow straight ahead into another relationship the day after he left his bride at the alter basically. He's got some issues. Thank GOD Zoe saw that finally! Wade - I think he just thinks that he isn't the guy that any girl like Zoe would ever choose, so he doesn't even try. He doesn't think he's 'good enough'. When we all know he does want to be with her. Hopefully he starts acting a bit more mature about it though. He may think it's funny....but it's just going to start getting to be plain mean.
I still want Annabeth and Lavon to date!

PREVIOUS night - was obnoxious and self-centered. Charming and adorable? Give me a break. If any character on this show needs to grow up and get over himself, it's George. I don't like Ruby at all. Can't wait until she's gone. I loved Lemon last night (as I have nearly every episode since sometime mid-season 1). Can't wait to see her working at the Rammer Jammer. Also have to disagree about "changing the tone" to funnier and lighter. First of all, that's nothing new, and secondly, I think they'd be much better off finding a balance. Despite some of my complaining comments here, this was a fantastic episode. I'm so happy to have returned to Bluebell.

Yes, Wade acted frustratingly immature, but in the most obvious way possible. His defense mechanisms were on clear display. In fact, in a way, I'd almost argue that at some basic level, he was being more mature about things than anyone else. He backed off and while not being honest about what HE wanted, he did push Zoe towards making a decision about what SHE wanted (or what he thought she wanted). I am not at all sure how I feel about their friends-with-benefits relationship, but I think it has potential for both good and bad. George didn't care about anyone's feelings but his own, or the fact that anyone else will have to deal with the repercussions of his actions. The way he shifted gears so fast after Brick left the office was so telling. Every single time I want to like him (bringing beer over to Wade's, for example), he just shoots himself in the foot again. His sense of entitlement about Zoe - that she should just gratefully be with him since he dumped his fiancee the previous night - was obnoxious and self-centered. Charming and adorable? Give me a break. If there's any character on this show that needs serious growing up, it's George. I didn't care for Ruby at all. Lemon remains quite possibly my favorite character, as she has been since somewhere in the middle of season 1. I am so excited for her working at the Rammer Jammer.

I don't like Wade any less or George any more than I did last season. I hope its not like OTH was with Brucas who was clearly the fan favorite but were ruined because another pairing was the writer's favorite. The writers tried very hard to ruin the character Brooke so that Peyton & Leyton looked better & would be more accepted- well they weren't. I think that maybe that's what may be happening here- not completely sure but maybe.
If not its just Wade with his defenses up & hopefully he will get to grow a little, maybe even buy the bar. I wanted Zoe to fight for him though:( we will see...

I am probably the only one here who roots for Zoe and George. I like the 2 together because they are meant to be together. Yes, Wade is going to challenge Zoe and I get that, its great sex and she needs to get out of her comfort zone. The question is: Can she be with Wade forever? No, no that is like MerDer in Greys they cannot be together because she is George s love and she is absolutely right to take a step back because she is looking for a genuine relationship with George, a power couple in their own way, that is how I see it. George is cute but also sincere and it takes a lot to break off a 15 year engagement/relationship, you don't do that when you don't love another person. My opinion: Zoe and Wade should have "done it" in New Orleans. But maybe we all need the suspension and the longing to continue to watch the perfect little show. Cant wait for the next episode!!!

You know I think Wade acted like that because once again Zoe turned her attention back to George. She sleeps with him and then is basically like compete for me. I think if the George thing hadn't happen, he would have stepped up. But I think it's kind of presumptuous to ask someone to pour their heart out when you still haven't made up your mind and they could be hurt. I was actually annoyed again by Zoe, just make a choice.

(CONTINUED ... Oy vey) Even though the intro still needs work (because it was a little strange) I liked that each of the other characters were in there and are getting storylines that blend together. It’s always great when the other characters also have layers. Also – the town gossip – perfect! :)

I’m just hoping they give Wade’s character back his lovableness which we had for what?... 22 episodes! And maybe he was just continuing to push Zoe away because of that fact that George is still in the picture, not having married Lemon. Wade only started to be seen by Zoe after having slept with her, when she thought the guy she was pining for was getting married… I don’t know. Just not happy about what they did to Wade’s character in this episode. I did like however, that Zoe seemed to be less ridiculous with her emotions and I noticed they had written in some of the things the fans were saying specifically Zoe now placing an emphasis on the fact that George and Lemon had been together for 15 years and that Zoe didn't want to be a rebound like she seemed to be last season when they took off to New Orleans (and the majority of the viewers pointed out when it happened). Even though the intro still needs work (because it was a little strange) I liked that each of the other characters were in there and are getting storylines that blend together. It’s always great when the other characters also have layers. Also – the town gossip – perfect! :)

Let's just say I finally understand what R. Kelly has been singing about all of these years...

Last night, while George was calling off his wedding, I was having sex with Wade
