Daniel Henney is guest staring as Adams brother just released from prison. I'm happy to see Daniel on the show, but hope it's just.one ep. I like Kono~Adam, but I don't it to get messy by adding bad brother.

The present show has taken a totally different approach to the original which wouldnt bother me at all if they did it well. But they don't. They don't know what kind of show they are trying to create. They are trying to merge far to much and its becoming rediculous. WoFat and Shelburne and not the problem, its how they are written. The overall writing is the problem.
I don't want the McDanno show and to be honest am finding it the worst part of the episodes recently. I'm quite happy for other characters and other storylines to immerge, but please improve the writing and the characterization.

Having said that, I still think it's a great show, and when it comes to so much going on each week, I kind of blame the fickle viewers for that. If the show is all about the "crime of the week" you're disappointed because they didn't shed any new light on anything involving Wo Fat. If they bring in a Catherine in order to try and give Mcgarrett a romantic interest, you don't like that either. Someone said that the original wouldn't do well today. First off, ther isn't an actor on this show who could hold a candle to the late Jack Lord in terms of talent. Second, if message boards like this existed in those days, it would shorten the life of your average show by about two years.

To Zia, and everyone else who adamantly likes to say HFO isn't like the original, I agree. However, to the people who want the Wo Fat storyline wrapped up, where would the show be without that constant common thread? Is it similar in nature to the original, yes, but that's ok because it's interesting. I think where HFO went off track a bit was adding so many new, regular characters. If you add in a Max and Catherine, you're going to have to create storylines for them pretty much every week. And when you add in the celebrity guest stars, like an Ed Asner, as well as the recurring characters, thinks can get muddled pretty fast, and think that's what you've seen over the past year plus of the show. In the first season, the plots were a little easier to follow and the characters were easier to flesh out, now, with so much going on in each and every scene, it's almost like they're trying to fit as much plot into each episode as possible.

Lost the end of my comment...
It can't have us being all sympathetic with a character one minute and then expect us to be chuckling with another in the next.

Agree with the rating. Apart from the funeral, and the ending, everything in between was boring and confusing - and I usually like case eps. This definitely won't be an ep to get viewers back.
What's starting to worry me about H5O is the so-called humour. I don't always find the banter funny at the best of times - though I have been known to laugh out loud occasionally. But these last two eps, it's even more out-of-place and inappropriate than usual? "Boo boo etc" from Steve, when Chin is going through the trauma of having his wife murdered? "Marriage etc" from Danno in the middle of a hostage situation? "Crispy" from Danno - when they're standing close to a murder victim who has suffered the same fate as Danno's ex-partner?
Guys here say we shouldn't take H5O so seriously - its just entertainment - so murder and hostage situations are meant to be taken so lightly? I wasn't aware that H5O was dark humour? H5O has got to make up its mind what its supposed to be. It can't have us
Terrible episode!!! The death of March was ridiculous, and Catherine story it was senseless, I do not think you can put so many passwords of WITSEC, without being blocked or being advised!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!who writes the scripts? A Kid??????

How predictable telling those that have issues with the show to stop watching.
Far too many people have stopped watching already and will continue to if the show continues to be so mediocre. I understand that people watch for various reasons but while some may be satisfied with what the show is giving them, its clear that many are not and it's reflected in the ratings.
I have no interest in the staged bromance scenes, but do care about intelligent writing and believable stories and characters. Hawaii Five O is lacking on all fronts at the moment and unless it improves it won't really matter what a handful of internet fans want.

This H50 is not the same as the old one, and it does not claim to be, nor should it be. It does pay dues to the old show, but its not the same. The old show would not do well today.
It does not matter what this show does, someone is not going to be happy. We want character stuff, we want procedural stuff, we want Catherine, we don't want Catherine, we want originality, we want reality, Danny's funny, Danny's annoying,......
I think this is a good show, can there be improvements, of course. If I did not like it, I would not watch. If a show annoys so much, then why watch it?
Entertainment is a break from the stress of the world that we all experience, why can't we just keep a TV show in perspective. There are other things to do.

I totally agree with Jim. This show is commercial, not artistic. A famous Hawaiian story is being changed dramatically with "hot" and shirtless scenes. It is ridiculous that the producer and casts said that the show will spread Hawaian cultural beauty arounnd the world with such scenes. The original show gained its success at that time. Is there no other stories about current Hawaiian life?

I agree. Hot mess. I am predicting horrible ratings. People want escapism but with some brains. A master criminal is allowed to run around on the freeway by himself? Huh? What?
So many saying it made sense he didn't want to go to prison but nobody is arguing that the op is saying that being left alone to run and play in heavy traffic is lame. I myself saw this as soon as as he got out of the police car.... Oh not even in handcuffs either so lame. Show is dying.

Well,I think season 3 is great, and I don't understand why the ratings are so terrible.
Oh,maybe because I am a huge fan of this show and the foursome team,I love the show in any way.
But I'm still worried about the ratings,I hope H50 could survive cancellation.
So there's a little question bothering me,who exactly Catherine is,I mean what kind of role she plays in McGarrett's life?Girlfriend, lover or friend with benefit?
Have they said 'I love you' to each other?Did McGarrett introduce her as his 'girlfriend' to his friends or families?
Everytime Catherine shows up we can predict that McGarrett's gonna need her help,is that what a girlfriend for?
Compared with Danny's situation,McGarrett always takes care of Danny's problems instead of asking for favors.
So I'm kinda confused, what's the point of making Catherine a regular character?
Sorry for my horrible English!

Frist of all, I totally agree with VickiSue, this episode was fabulous and she's right it's only going to get better. The shot with March getting hit by a truck, I thought was brilliant, he didn't want to spend any time in prison and this was HIS way out, and he was 2 steps ahead of everyone, knowing this was what he was going to do when everyone was looking towards where he pointed, then SPLAT.
When I spoke with Peter Lenkov the night before SOTB, he said that this Season is so much better than the last one. I personally thought both the last 2 Seasons were incredible.
Who doesn't love the action/drama/adventure/scenery(not including Alex O'Loughlin and Daniel Dae Kim, which adds another dimension to the whole show). Come on people this is filmed on location in Oahu, Hawaii. To be able to see this show with all of the above every week, well it really brightens up my outlook, just waiting for Monday nights.

Jim you were way to harsh in your review!! There were cops all around when March got out and he pointed them toward "the girl" it only takes a second to step into traffic, I found it another wow didn't see that coming like his last episode and Steve and Danno had it right he died on HIS terms!! Cath is always risking her career to help Steve and this whole Doris thing he needs help, she is way to cunning. I think we are not supposed to like her if she came back after 20 years and all was right with the world you would complain. The Malia moments were very moving as they should have been. Yes Kamakona as a tourist pilot is ridiculous that's what makes it fun and they said as much to him. Lighten up Jim this is the best show in that time slot to me and it only gets better in my eyes!!

There were things to like and dislike about this episode. The funeral scene was so beautiful. I found the crime story confusing, but given August March's wiliness, I thought he would have led them on a merrier chase. I wouldn't have wanted March in a third episode of course, but the suicide thing was weird.
Who was the man Catherine was playing pool with, and what did her computer research have to do with what she told Steve at the end? Was the guy with WitSec?
But the absolute best thing for me, as a dedicated Alex O'Loughlin fan, was how good he looked and sounded, compared to when he was at his unhealthiest last season. He was articulate, animated, and looked absolutely fabulous.
Go Alex !!!

I'm with JohnnyH50 - really liked it. Yay! Crime of the week was back! Course, as usual, it didn't make much sense, but I don't watch 50 for crimes that make sense. Sad to see Ed Asner go, he's a great villan. DDK did an excellent job as usual, mourning Malia. Glad Catherine has her "own thing" going on and isn't on the team like Lori was.
Shirtless Steve (and Danno!)yay! Carguments were fun, this episode reminded me of the first season episodes, which were great.
Only downer, MOM is back? Thought we would have a rest from the Mom/Wo Fat boring ENDLESS plotline.

i liked the eppy....i liked that they were there for Chin....i get a kick out of steve and danny....not sure how i feel about catherine....i'm a "slash fan"....something seemed off with ed anser....did he have a stroke.....i think this eppie was BETTER the season opener, to be honest.....i'm already NOT liking steve's mother...she's STILL hurting her children, with these games she's playing...making her son think, she LEFT the island....only to have the plane turn around, once she was sure they'd left the airport.....i have last night's eppy 4 stars ( **** ).
I have to say I'm rather surprised at your vehement dislike of Ep. 3.02, Jim! I usually agree with most of what you write, but I'm afraid I just can't get behind your review this week. I honestly enjoyed the episode and I felt a return to the Season 1 vibe that so many fans have been asking for. Action, drama, humor, compassion and Ohana moments were all present - is it possible that we are just having too good a time complaining to realize it? August March was a great villain, but let him go,folks - there will be more dasdardly villains in future eps., I'm sure. (Jeez, it could even be Mom McG who turns out to be the nastiest of the bunch considering what we learned in the last minute of the ep.)! I particularly liked the car chase scene with the bus and the untimely demise of Mr. March. Chin and Danny's scene on the beach was very moving - in the future I see Danny being the friend who grounds Chin in the present and gets him through his "dark time". It was a very well done scene.
Is it wrong that despite the sadness of the funeral I was happy to see Steve, Danny and Chin shirtless? Just saying......... plus these comments are getting way too serious for what is, after all, a TV show. :-)
