Chicago Fire Review: Arrests and Avoidance

by at .

If "Rear View Mirror" proves one thing, it's that Chicago Fire keeps getting hotter and hotter.

So thank goodness NBC decided to pick up the show for a full season following its season highs last week.

Dawson Treats Casey

Carrying on, it seems Detective Voight finally got the social justice he deserves, but this certainly doesn’t feel like the end of him. Voight’s methods kept escalating so he could bring out some kind of rise out of Casey - anything with the potential to dismiss the testimony - and Voight’s plans might be successful.

Casey finally snapped with the planted cocaine in his house, and he subsequently assaulted Voight. I’m no lawyer, and I only watch The Good Wife, but that can’t be good. Voight is not only a corrupt cop, but also a man with no morals. As we’ve seen since his introduction, he has no qualms about making threats and shady deals, while he has ascended to a position that makes him nearly untouchable.

So, while I would love to believe Brother Dawson and see that he’s never coming back, Voight is just a far too enjoyable, slimy and corrupt officer to be a one and done character.

For someone who has a body part that’s about one pulled muscle away from losing everything, Kelly certainly puts his shoulder in plenty of precarious situations every week. Just how much longer can his charade or shoulder last? Either he’s going to get caught with the pills, or his body is going to finally give out. His entire plans are going to unravel no matter what outcome happens, and delaying that is only going to do more damage.

And those actions are what are can make Kelly so infuriating sometimes. It’s the greatest weakness of his character. Kelly is willing to take those chances because he’s a kind and gentle soul who wants to continue rescuing those around him. He wants to rescue Casey from his anger over Voight, and he wants to rescue his buddies and civilians from unruly fires. His noble goals are lined with deceit.

Finally, we have Dawson. I absolutely adore her flagrant disregard for protocol when she knows she has the skills necessary to save a life, and Mouch’s dual pronged approach to keeping her aboard was absolutely brilliant. How can the disciplinary be so strict when the little girl she saved is standing right in front of them?

If I had one complaint about Chicago Fire, it’s that not enough people are watching it. Aside from that, everything about the show is enjoyable.

I think Kellys shoulder will eventually give in and someone will die because of it. That will bring up all the information about him knowing about the injury. This could lead to people turning away from him, especially if it is another firefighter that dies because of it.

I love this show. It shows firefighters as both heroic and human. What's not to like? The stories just keep getting better all the time.

I really enjoy this show and it has improved every week. It definitely took a little bit for me to get over Jesse Spencer having an American accent and not playing a doctor. I'm glad they got rid of the tension between Casey and Severide; I'd rather see them working together than fighting. And I love Mouch helping Dawson. This show is good at having everyone play a part in the action, even though we know who the main characters are.

    The graffiti conversations were funny.

Really like Hallie but think she will be the first to go. Det. Voight isn't going that quietly as he said," Enjoy it while you can."

Dawson SL was okay I guess, not to intriguing. Although the disciplinary was just as it wasn't to excessive. Even if I agree with her actions in saving the girl.

I still do not get why they supsended her for 3 shifts, I guess her lack of protocol but she does save lives! Also I want to know who the kid on the bike was in front of the fire, did he start it? I personally think Voight had the fire started as it was on the floor that the kid lived in and I am sure Voigth apporached the kid before and he said no.
I hope more people tume in as this show should be around a long time! I too think that sooner than later Kelly's shoulder issues will come to the surface and I do not see it going well for him.

I love this show, it is my 2nd favorite new show as Arrow is my first! LOL
    Anyways on to the episode.
I was not sure how much longer the Det Voight storyline could go on for, after planting cocaine, the only other thing I could see Voight getting his lackies to do would be to kill Hallie. I was shocked that Matt went and punched Voight (he deserved it) but did Matt really think it was a good idea? I was not expecting the kid he saved in the fire to be the one to help them out, I liked that. I too fear Voight is not gone for good.
Dawson has to stop pinning for Matt and she has to get together with Mills who clearly likes her! One thing I really like about this show is how they help each other out, from Otis helping Herrman last week, to the guys wanting to beat the crap out of Voight, to Herrmann and Otis selling the grafitti so that Dawson would not lose any of her wages.
