Grey's Anatomy Round Table: "Beautiful Doom"

Welcome back to TV Fanatic's Grey's Anatomy Round Table!

Our Grey's Anatomy review broke down "Beautiful Doom" in great detail. Now, TV Fanatic staff members Courtney Morrison, Sean McKenna and Christina Tran have assembled for their weekly Q&A discussion.

Read their answers below and weigh in with yours!

1. What was your favorite scene from the episode?

Courtney: I pretty much loved every bit of banter between Yang and Thomas, but my favorite quote goes to the voiceover from Cristina. "I'm not a spoon. I'm a knife and I'm going to stab you in the eyeball." Hilarious. As far as scenes go - no question: When Thomas showed up to pick up Yang after her car was covered in snow.

Christina: Meredith: "Dance or you're fired." 30-second dance parties are awesome. If you haven't partaken in one, I suggest you do it!

Sean: I really have to agree with Courtney on both her quote and her scenes. I've really been enjoying all the Thomas and Yang scenes, and for the short time he was on, Thomas was a really established and great character.

2. Did you like the focus on Meredith and Cristina or prefer the traditional episode?

Courtney: Loved it! It's no secret that Cristina is my favorite doc and Mer comes in a close second. I wouldn't want this type of installment every time, but I definitely enjoyed it.

Christina: I'm a traditional kind-of-gal so I didn't really care too much for this week's focus on Mer and Cristina. I think that their friendship could have easily been a subplot on a typical GP installment. At times, the split screens and back-and-forth banter between the two was definitely a bit much.

Sean: I didn't really care for Meredith's side of the story. I know there was supposed to be a certain parallel for the two characters, but Meredith kind of got on my nerves this episode and I spent more time hoping we'd get back to Yang. I think having the whole who's watching the baby thing was supposed to be funny but it fell flat with me. Maybe if it wasn't a part of such a big focus with Meredith, I would have liked it more.

3. Who did you miss most since Grey and Yang took center stage?

Courtney: We got a little bit of Callie so I'm going with Alex... or Jackson. But mostly because we didn't get to see Avery without his shirt off this week.

Christina: Derek. More McDreamy always, please!

Sean: Jackson for sure. He cracks me up with his lines, although I do miss the plastics posse…

4. Cristina showed up on Meredith's doorstep. Is she here to stay?

Courtney: Absolutely! I had been trying to figure out what would send her back to SGH, and the passing of Thomas was one thing I never thought of. Although I just started to get comfortable with the fact that Yang was at a different hospital, I am glad to have her home.

Christina: Based on next week's promo (above), it appears that way. It'll be fun to see how crazy she gets with the interns and I'm curious to see what will happen to Owenstina.

Sean: I knew Thomas' death would be the catalyst for her returning and she is definitely here to stay. Although, I was really hoping that Thomas would get fired, and he and Cristina would both return to Seattle.

5. Write a small farewell to Yang's Minnesota BFF, Dr. Thomas.

Courtney: Dr. Thomas, you were an ancient dinosaur that befriended a stubborn girl when she needed it most. Not only did you teach her crazy medical things, but you taught her how to laugh again after another tragedy. You were funny, wise, and a gentleman. You will be missed but have developed one hell of a protege to carry out your teachings.

Christina:  Dr. Thomas, we only knew you for a short time. Yet, you played such an integral role in our Grey's Anatomy world. You were brilliant, patient, kind, and the reason why Cristina is now back in Seattle. Thanks for momentarily teaching us that it's important to stand up for yourself and even to move on after difficult times in our lives.

Sean: Dr. Thomas, you will always be Mr. Feeny to me, but in the short time we got to spend with you, you established yourself as a caring, talented, and wise doctor and friend. I really wish you would have joined the Seattle crew, but you were able to show Cristina a new light and push her back to her home. You will definitely have a lasting mark. Gone too soon, remembered always.

@Jennifer,I got your poit,hope you're right!
what if Dr. Thomas's Cristina 1st one mentor, they met each other in SGMW or in Standfor med school, I think it turned out differently

I Still hate Cristina it was very selfish of her to sacfice her unborn child to be a full time surgeon BO!!!

Was there no music on last week's episode?

I t hink Cristina will move back to the firehouse. Owen is staying at Derek's trailer but maybe Cristina doesn't know that. She may think he is still in the firehouse. Plus, Meredith is her person and it wouldn't be that weird for her to go to see her first. Hilarious that she had to get wasted before she could get on the plane though. Cristina told Owen they had to stop talking. Maybe she felt she had to test the waters, or maybe she's just not sure what she wants to do about their marriage. The twisted sisters are a given. Solid, steady relationship that will never die. I loved Cristina with Dr. Thomas though. After the boards exam episode, I was hoping that we'd see him again. He was a very pleasant surprise and he will be missed.

And as I said on my own blog, Meredith cried more over her dog when he died than her sister... this is not right. Shonda should have written that part in a better way.

(comment truncated) To me she had remorse about what she was doing with Parker. Wonder if they were testing the waters for a Cristina Yang spinoff? I'd be on board with that!

@vanessa_tw I too liked Dr. Thomas' line to Cristina about her "extracurricular gymnastics" only he said Parker is making her "conventional" rather than "conversational." Thomas saying that to Cris was predictable IMO but I'm glad did. It was never shown who instigated the sex friend arrangement between Parker and Cristina or why each was doing it. Cris was clearly an active participant but not sure of Parker's motive. I don't buy it was to get her to help him get rid of Thomas. Seems like he really liked Cristina. The pillow talk between them was needed to move the Dr. Thomas story I guess. The conversation between Cris and Mer at the start of the episode was telling. There wasn't a conversation between Mer/Cris about Cris using a fake voice but Cris said something like, see you use one too, to Mer (when she was talking to Zola). Cris's voiceover said "I can't look at you either" as she looked at her own reflection while in bed with Parker. To me she had remorse about what she was doing with him. The Cris part of the episode was interesting. Wonder if they were testing the waters for a Cristina Yang spinoff? I'd be on board with that!

Mer is the greatest and Mer Der is the reason to see the show. thanks.

My favorite scene was when Owen was with Zola and he told Meredith he read her Goodnightmoon. It was nice seeing his composionite side for once. Im glad cristina cameback to the hospital.

i personally liked how they addressed lexie's death.. i know it seems impersonal but it has been a while.
but i would like to have had them make me cry a river if they focused more on lexie..
Dr. Thomas was the best so of course, Shonda killed him

I can't move. I need to move but I can't. I think I may be frozen to this spot.
