The story was OK, but loved seeing the Steve-Catherine relationship growing and her fight scene. I, too, questioned why Kono wasn't doing it, but Kono doesn't really seem to relate well to kids and Catherine has a gentleness about her that fit in this episode. @H5O...you did hit it right, and "Magnum" as Catherine's father would be perfect! It was a fun episode with the George, the pig pit, and the helecopter buy! I agree, Danny is getting more sour every episode...lighten up, Danny...you're on the island with your ex and daughter ~ deal with it! Always love Steve in and out of a tux, and seeing the team working together, even if the only have a small part in different episodes! The only thing I would have liked to see on this ep, was everyone rallying around Chin on his first holiday since losing his wife. Great review. Merry Christmas, all!

I agree with Bonnie completely. Too much Steve and Catherine , the plot was weak and Steve taking catherine in his arms like Officer and Gentleman style. I believe he did that to make it to Catherine as she told her earlier she wanted a more romantic get together with him, not eating with hinm at the car as that was not romantic for her but it was for Steve I guess that is the only reason I could think the scene at the end, Steve needed to compensate Cathe with more romantic stuff but Lame lame. I woudl have preferred like a get togehter in Steve house with all of the team for Christmas dinner. I believe the writers or Peter and forcing fans the Steve and Catherine relationship and it is not working. She was better off like S1, ocassionally and doing work as a Navy officer now she works as a cop. I mean is ok Steve have a gf and seeing his romatnic side, but the way the writers or peter are doing that is not working so far. It is failing, no wonder why the ratings are getting low t
Dear Santa: I have been good this year and all I want is Alex O'Loughlin and if he could be wearing that Tuxedo that would be great..thank you! :)
I have liked Alex for years and think he is the hottest guy in Hollywood and while he was way to thin for a few months there he is now hotter than ever, did not think that was possible!
This was a great episode! I do like Catherine but I too feel there was a little to much of her. I loved every scene with Alex. I also liked the Chin, Danny and his uncle ( they made a huge deal advertising that George Takei was going to be on but he was on for like 2 seconds). I also liked the Danny and Kamekono helicopter scene it was great!
I guess they wanted a little more light hearted episode before the break. I am sure once the show is back on it will dive back into the Kono, Adam and Michael storlyine.
Oh and I also liked the Chin, Danny and Max scene.

Danno needs to go on IR. For all you non sports fans, this means "Injured Reserve". He never smiles, says anything nice and is ALWAYS bitching about everything. Or maybe put him on an "Alternative Lifesyle Reality Show", he'd make a perfect nagging drag queen. No offense... :)

Excellent Christmas episode! The crime story had just enough tension to it, but without too much gore, if you don't count the exploded pig. I loved George and hope they have him back, because a moonshining uncle has got to suggest a pretty cool story plot. I loved the young boy, as he reminded me of my kid, who is a few years younger, but I already see it coming. I loved seeing McG with the young boy. It was a great insight into our Super Seal. Speaking of super, Cath has been a great addition. The show needed another female and they finally got one right. She's adorable with McG, but she has her own life too. I even love how she does him favors. Last night, we got to see that these two are in deep with one another, no matter how emotionally stilted he is. And I am not surprised he is so dense about women. He was raised by all men. Plus I've read a couple books by Navy Seals and they all say the wife and kids come second to the comrades and the job. Cath would know this.

Enjoyable episode. Catherine was great, she can really kick ass. Why do the writers continue to portray Steve as some immature clueless boyfriend. I'm at the stage now where I can't stand Danny. He's just comic relief and good at nothing. Dreading the custody battle and it will be used for more forced angst for Danny. After last week why would any judge grant him custody.
Loved Chin's uncle. Hope we see more of him.

I am glad I wasn't the only one to notice TC's helicopter tonight.. The funny thing is the nightowl I am, the episode of Kojak last night on METV had Roger E Mosley playing a bad guy from 1974.... way before Magnum... All of the main actors from that show are from the 1980's are still with us...

I really didn't care for this episode. The kid was unlikeable. Good points were the the return of Superseal and George Takei. The part where Chin dug up the pig was ludicrous. The grave site would have been a crime scene and should have been handled as such. The story line with Kamekona and the helicopter is also ridiculous. He would need a commercial helicopter license which probably would run about $ 50,000.00 and it's doubtful he could pass the FAA physical. This particular helicopter N6077H a Euricopter AS350 has been used in a number of episodes. Sorry about the negativity but with George Takei as the guest star I was expecting better.

Agree--Xmas episode first season was very well written, well acted and heartfelt. Quality of best S1 writting has not been replicated since.

Loved seeing Catherine back. Kono has been seen a lot lately. The story was OK. Did love George Takei, I wished we had more of him and would love to see him back. Loved the reference to Magnum PI. A little more of Chin would be nice. I was entertained.
Happy Holidays everyone.

(cont.) the plot was good, loved seeing Catherine back, they gave her a rest, and may give her more if she is going off leave. Loved her kick butt, I read Michelle has been taking lessons 3 times a week to do her own martial arts moves. I think she did good. Steve is a little clueless as a boyfriend, but made up for it at the end. Anytime we get to see Alex in tux is a plus. They are showing them more as a couple, but I'm we will get the rocky part later on when Steve finds out Catherine kept something from him about his Mom. The kid did a good job. His attitude was what I would imagine Steve being at his age. I would give it a 4.2. I wonder how many repeats now.

Not my favorite episode. I liked George Takei, the ending scene, how the crime was introduced. What I didn't like: Too much Cath, not enough Kono, crime of the week was weak and too confusing, no Super Seal moment, no Gracie and how Danny was being rude to Max. I was hoping that the Christmas episode (the episode before the break)would have some high drama and mini-cliffhanger. The Christmas episode from S1 is one of my favorites. That was perfect!

I didn't like the episode. Too much Catherine. The ending where Steve came in alldressed up and took Catherine away was just stupid. For one thing she was dressed very causal to say the least.

I hope we see George Takei again, he did a great job as a moon shine uncle, but as far the amount of time, I thought it was appropriate for the episode. They can have him pop up again. Kono was in a lot in last several episodes, so it was someone else's turn. I love Grace Park, but come on people, Steve is the main character. I agree we needed more Kono and Chin, and we have gotten more Kono this season, as for Chin he had a couple of episodes, and I'm sure there will be more, be patient. I would love to see a three hour program every Monday, so we get to see all of them for a long time, but its not going to happen.
I saw the helicopter from Magnum PI also. I would love to see Tom Selleck come back for an episode, his show I watch and is on CBS so there is no network conflict. I'd love to see an older Magnum, but would even like to see him as maybe Catherine's father, seeing him react to Steve as her boyfriend. (cont.)

Great epi! I like it when they veer from the formula from time to time. They did last week and again this week. Loved both. And I think they've done a great job carrying each of the main characters' personal stories thru the season. Last week we got an update on Kono and Adam. This week, we got an update on Danny's custody issue, and I love that Steve invited his brah for Christmas dinner. We also have had a chance to see the Steve/Cath relationship develop, which has been interesting; Cath even admitted he's her boyfriend and I do believe he finally made the declaration himself at the end. Awesome! The case du jour was intriguing and became personal for Steve. I liked the kid and how Steve identified with him. And I LOVE that Chin's uncle is a moonshiner. I wonder along with Danny, just how many uncles does Chin have? I hope lots more. Though, yeah, Mr. Takei needs a reprise. Do bring him back 5-0! He's another great character, like Toast, that needs to appear from tim

Great episode. When kamekona bought a helicopter without having a pilots license I wasn't shocked it seemed like something he would do. Steve is cluess when it comes to girls if he thinks sitting in a parking lot eating carry out food is romantic and a special place. Katherine kicking but was awesome. Chin having an uncle in the mood shine business was great and now I'm wondering the same thing Danny asked how many uncles does Chin have.

I loved this episode particularly because we got to see Catherine. There is so much they can do with that character. I am bored with the testosterone overload I'd danni and Steve. Maybe they should get Catherine and Kono investigate something together and kick some ass. Personally I have zero tolerance for H50 fans who moan about new regulars. Season 3 is better for having Michelle Borth in it and I hope we see her more because the scenes were becoming predictable in season 2 I could even write an episode!

I liked this episode as well. There were some humorous situations like Danno "negotiating" the price of the chopter for Kamekona :) Steve's attitude towards the kid was very warm and adult at the same time. Cat's fight was great and Steve looked super handsome in the tux. There was not enough of Kono I agree, but she has had her fair share of ass-kicking in episodes 7 and Cat was absent for 2 episodes.
I thought it was a very unique episode, in a good way. I liked how they introduced the case, with Steve approaching the kid. It was something different and it was fun to see Steve and Catherine interact with a child, which built their relationship. Also, on your note about Steve's choice of date Jim, I'm still trying to figure out wether Steve had the tuxedo move planned before the rainbow diner all along, or he came up with it after. Either way he definitely made up for it. Catherine's kick ass fight scene was definitely entertaining to watch, well done to the crew and stunt guys for pulling off a very brutal and convincing fight. It was an enjoyable episode to end on before Christmas, I think it deserves just over 4 stars.
