At Julia64. Tony used to be funny about 10% of the time and competent and smart 90%. It used to be evident why Gibbs depended on him. Ever since they decided that Tony had to cower around GIbbs and had to be glued to Ziva, who always has to be smarter and outdo him while he is predictably humiliated the percentages are reversed. Tony is my favorite character. He's gotten one episode this season while Ziva has had three and we know there's more Ziva drama to come. Probably several at the end of the season. It makes me so sad that Tony is only valued now by the writers as to how he can enhance Ziva in whatever is her current drama. If they're just going to use him to make others look better and never let him grow or shine I honestly wish they'd just write him off the show. It's painful to watch him be humiliated and shown as increaingly less valuable every week.

I think that what Gibbs is building has something to do with the season arc/finale - along the lines of Ilan Bodner and the elusive "M.C" from several weeks past. I didn't realize in season 8 he was building decorative pieces for Mike Frank's coffin. :( However, I want Mark Harmon, and the rest of the team to come back for season 11! Got addicted in the end of season 7, watched every episode of the series (thanks, USA Network!), and I want to start season 11 - and my freshman year in college - together!

I'm thinking retirement boat with a wood burning stove. Not uncommon. Would definitely be right up Gibbs' alley.

........Sadly you'd likely burst out laughing if Gibbs described him as such today, and on the basis of recent events I'd probably promote McGee! Suffice to say, I don't want a new different humourless Tony, I'd just like to see a little more of the old one.

Loved the scenes with Vance, particularly those with Ziva. Rocky Carroll really is terrific.
And despite his protestations to the contrary Tony has never been particularly good with children, so it was nice too see him playing with Vance's kids. However I was surprised by his initial reaction, whilst displaying something of a phobia of very young ones he's never had a problem with older children, they just didn't like him very much!
And though I love Tony's boyish humour it's only lately that he's become, with only a few exceptions, a complete clown. In the past the writers offset his humour against more serious moments. I was never left in any doubt that despite the jokes, here was a three dimensional character, a competent individual, a man capable of leading his own team, Gibbs' senior field agent, his right hand man, a gifted investigator, a skilled marksman and to quote Gibbs the best young agent he'd ever worked with. Sadly you'd likely burst out laughing if Gibbs descr

Gibbs is working on things for a retirement cabin; in the season finale he will announce his retirement. Since Mr Harmon has signed on for another year all next year will find him making sure that Tony is ready & prepared to take over the team
