Body of Proof Review: The Trouble With Family

at . Comments

Megan Hunt had "Mob Mentality" stalk into her morgue and threaten her this week - but in true Megan fashion, she didn't flinch. As much as I loved her bravado, perhaps she might want to take a little of Tommy's advice.

A Mob War

As Tommy tells her in this Body of Proof quote right before the bullets start flying….

Tommy: You might want to dress down when we go into a bad area.
Megan: Like I'm going to take fashion advice from somebody who owned a Member's Only tuxedo | permalink

Admittedly, anyone who wore Member's Only has questionable fashion sense, but he did have a point. Tight skirts and high heels are bound to stand out in dark alleys and sometimes it's simply smarter to blend in. But Megan really doesn't care about fitting in. She cares about getting the job done and luckily she's got Tommy there to protect her when the shots are fired.

I liked that Tommy asked Megan out and I was thrilled she said yes. But I should have known it was all too easy. Tommy may have made the reservation behind her back but I thought Megan over reacted. Although not knowing more about their history, it's possible she had reason to do so.

The two most interesting things about the murder of the mobster's son had to do with our two detectives.

Tommy and Russo had quite a history going back to his time on the NYPD which obviously didn't end well. All Tommy would tell his partner was that he lost his temper and people got hurt. Bad people? And just how hurt? Apparently we'll have to wait for those details but it was clear that Tommy was trying to put it all behind him when he moved to Philly.

Was Megan working in the same city simply a lucky coincidence or an overall plan in the hopes of getting back together?

Det. Lucas was back after having last week off and he looked even younger and cuter than I remembered. I never considered what having a close family member as a defense attorney might mean to a cop. Adam seemed very worried that his colleagues would shut him out. Unfortunately some probably would. There are far too many asinine people in this world.

Although if there was an award for stupid it had to go to the guy who shot Adam. I loved how he thought he should get a pass because he was stoned. As though getting high was an excuse for shooting a police officer. Apparently he thought the whole thing was so cool that he recorded it and posted it to online. Is there such a thing as criminally stupid? Perhaps he can ponder that while he faces attempted murder charges.

My only disappointment was that we didn't get much of Curtis. Both Ethan and Curtis are great characters on their own but they truly shine when they're paired together. Their adventures in the creepy basement last week just left me wanting more.

Now that Tommy's made his feelings clear is there any chance that Megan will give him a second chance? Do you want to see these two get together? What's your take on this week's Body of Proof?

I started watching this show because an actress I like from some other shows is doing a guest arc in the next few weeks and I thought I would get familiar with the show. i have to agree with those who find Megan unlikeable. I get the feeling maybe they are trying to be like house minus the drug addiction of the lead character. The whole clothes issue was just silly someone is shooting at her and she is worried about her clothes why would a woman dress like that in that kind of job anyway. I do like Adam(he's cute, yeah I'm shallow LOL) I thought the storyline of Adam and his father juxtaposed with that of the mobster and is son was a nice touch. For some reason I'm not a fan of Jeri Ryan though I did kind of enjoy her brief stint on Leverage.

They can change up the characters & add more action outside the ME's office, but the show will never improve until they change Megan....she's just not likeable. Also, to the reviewer, the stoner that shot Adam cannot ponder his mistake in jail because Russo's crew KILLED him, remember????

I'm trying again with this show. I didn't even know they had killed Peter off because I can't stand Megan so I quit watching last year. She is just too rude and arrogant. I hate it when she's right. I want to like Jeri Ryan's character, but I've never figured out why she's even on the show. Here are two strong lead women characters and there is next to nothing to like with either one. Mark Valley is the only bright spot among the leads, the two techs are fun, and I'm praying that Ethan finally gets to the point where he stands up to Megan. But odds are I won't be watching when he does.

I still enjoy this show and I kind of like the Tommy character. I didn't see the need for the character changes this season. It hasn't made the show better. I think Megan still comes across as too rude and up-tight. She could still be a smart investigator with being a b*t*h. You can have a degree of tension between characters but they need to make her more human and likeable. Also, who needs to wear stilettos as a coroner??? I'd like to see the program succeed.

I still like the show but I don't like the new, silly and frivolous stuff with Megan's clothes and flirtation with Tommy. Michael Nouri is still sexy, handsome and a good actor.

I agree. This show reminds me of a 70s cop show. Compared to Criminal Minds, Body of Evidence lags far behind. The show isn't cerebral and the characters seem bored and unconvincing, like they are merely reading their lines as opposed to morphing into the character they are supposed to represent. Most seem like pretty, insipid people who are on TV because they are attractive. Not much suspense or intrigue. Compare this to Criminal Minds, where Aaron and others actually seem to be like FBI agents. I also thought Megan's fixation on her dress during the shoot out scene set women back years. Yes, when guns are firing overhead, the first thing that comes to a professional woman's mind is -- I might have ruined this outfit. Last season was good. Can't get into this season.

@Sue Ann, Interesting comments. I too like Mark Valley though not sure about his "character" yet. Loved him in High Target! I miss Sam and Bud but have no prob thus far with the new additions. You're spot on re. Ray Wise. For once he was a "good" guy. Let's see for how long. Love love Curtis, and when he and Ethan are together, even better. Hilarious those two. Wasn't Michael Nouri Ziva's father in NCIS? Love him too, although he was so bad (bad person) in this but good acting as usual. I miss Megan's ex, Jeffrey Nordling.I like the fighting between those two. I don't have a problem with her clothes and shoes though. I love to see her outfits. lol.

I wish they would leave this show as it is. Megan is great but this guy can take a hike. Mark Valley was great in Boston Kegal..not putting the actor down. And why was this show not on all of 2012? Is this really season 3?

Tommy "made the reservation behind her back". No, he lied. Hooking up with a liar is never smart. I still like the actor, dislike the character. I too wish the cast had not changed, except that I was glad to see the end of Peter. And I, too, would prefer more Curtis and Ethan. And the shoes and dress are idiotic for wearing at her job, much less in a dark alley. Any opportunity to see the hunky Michael Nouri is nice. I've been a fan since he played the best vampire ever, in 1979. And he was splendid on Bay City Blues, a show which never got a chance. That was the closest to a decent human being I have ever seen Ray Wise play. It will be interesting to see if he shows up more, as he is related to a permanent character.

I agree with the reviewer that there needs to be more Ethan and Curtis on screen during Body of Proof! Those two are hilarious and interesting characters and they're always finding a new way of looking at the evidence. They also have interesting hobbies, like Ethan's fascination with True Crime stories. My 13 year old son watches this show with me, mainly for Curtis and Ethan, because he also thinks they're funny and fascinating. I hope that Tommy and Megan get together, eventually, but I'd like to know what he did in NYC that got him banished before I ship him and Megan too hard. Because if he's a slimeball, he shouldn't be around Lacey. And it seems that this season Megan is much more irrascible than last season.
