NCIS LA Promo: Seeing Red, Again

at . Comments

When CBS introduced Callen, Sam & Co. during a two-part NCIS episode in 2009, it found instant spinoff gold. Will the same be said of the NCIS: Los Angeles spinoff currently in progress?

Last night's episode, "Red," tried to lay a similar foundation as it introduced us to an elite team of mobile NCIS agents. Reviews so far have been mixed, but there's another half to go next week.

While the LA team chases leads digitally and locally, the Red team travels in its mobile trucks, "Laverne and Shirley," in a race to track down a cunning terrorist before he disappears for good.

It really depends on the chemistry of the leads. LA was a little rough in the beginning, but with a few tweaks to maximize the chemistry (ie, getting rid of Dom, enhancing G and Sam and bringing in Deeks for Kensi) and now it's a really strong show. I'm a little unsure of John Corbett - he seems one dimensional to me in everything he does. I'm also not sure he can bring the intensity. I have seen Kim Raver since her days on Third Watch - I know she can bring intensity but I hope she can show more sides. Really it will all come down to chemistry and we'll need to give them some time to show and develop that.
