It will have a new showrunner, but also a new season.
Indeed, despite Lauren Iungerich's surprise departure as the woman in charge of Awkward, MTV has renewed this critically-acclaimed comedy for a fourth season.
MTV made the announcement today, confirming Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler as executive producers and stating that the second half of Awkward Season 3 will kick off in October.
Season 4 will then air some time in the summer of 2014, with no word yet on just how many episodes will comprise the Ashley Rickards-fronted series next year.
