Grey's Anatomy Review: Not a Game Anymore

at . Comments

After last week’s emotional premiere, Grey’s Anatomy aired its second episode of the season, focusing on MerDer adjusting to life at home with a newborn while the show went on at the hospital.

In "Everybody's Crying Mercy," our favorite couple found it difficult being away from work. The two were exhausted and sleep-deprived, but that didn’t stop Meredith from finding ways to check up on Webber by getting updates from Cristina and Shane. Webber didn’t want a feeding tube but clearly needed one.

Derek and the Baby

I know Mer felt like she was the only family Webber had left, but I couldn’t believe that she’d bring her newborn to the hospital. Even crazier was how the installment ended with Webber telling Mer he chose her as his proxy because he thought she would have been able to put her emotions aside and make the right choice. He was upset she let them operate on him when he was all but dead. That was so very cold and harsh.

So, what else happened while the Shepherds were out?

Well, it’s safe to say that Calzona’s marriage has hit rock bottom. Arizona tried to fix their broken relationship by scheduling a couple’s therapy session. Callie made it clear that she wasn’t going to see the therapist and thought that Arizona needed to fix herself first.

Side note: I don’t remember seeing or hearing Arizona apologize to Callie for her huge mistake. I am really glad the writers aren’t rushing to a quick resolution for these two. What Arizona did was totally wrong and Calzona just hasn’t been all rainbows and sunshine for a very long time. I just don't know if these two are truly meant to be anymore. Actually, I haven't felt that way in a long time.

With numerous surgeries scheduled, Owen clashed with Jackson over financial issues at the hospital. Owen was definitely right when he said the hospital needed the board to make decisions and the doctors to help. I really liked how Owen was able to show Jackson that the board had to meet and am stoked to see the upcoming benefit for the hospital.

Meanwhile, there was lots of tension with both Crowen and Jolex. For the former, Crowen decided that they were going to try to date other people even if they knew it was going to suck and feel forced. Jolex, on the other hand, finally found the time and an empty house as Alex carried Jo up the stairs to likely relieve some of their tensions. I absolutely love these two together!

Other thoughts:

  • As April nervously awaited the results of her boards, I found myself not caring in the least bit whether she passed or failed. She passed, though, so I guess that means she's sticking around. By the way, how does her hair stay so bouncy with all that running around in the hospital? She must have some amazing products.
  • Like it or not, the interns are becoming more prevalent. Shane stepped up in a big way this week when he helped Webber. However, I couldn't help but wonder if and when others will eventually find out what really happened with him and Heather last week.
  • There were two scenes in particular that had me missing Cristina already. The first was when she didn’t exactly give Arizona the “nice haircut” comment she wanted. Then, I cracked up when Cristina was torturing Alex over his love life. Check out the Grey’s Anatomy quotes for Cristina’s funny lines.

Overall, I thought this installment was strong and feel like we’re off to a great start already for yet another long and memorable season. Don’t forget to return early next week to chime in on our Grey’s Anatomy Round Table.

Arizona is STILL blaming Callie for not being on the plane. Good Lord - she really needs therapy, and not sexual healing.

Now, MerDer was funny. She fell asleep at the shower's entrance, just like that. He fell asleep in the parking lot. Priceless.
I cannot wait to see more even though each episode will bring me closer to Cristina leaving...

About the season premiere, I hated the fact that Heather died. I liked her. I was disgusted. AND then I hated Shane. though I will admit he kinda rocked in this episode. It doesn't change anything though. And the fact that the interns take half the screen time kills me ! Especially when my Cristina is going and I need to see more of her !
NOW, what the heck was that ending about ! Webber's reaction was sooooo out of character, especially when at the end of the previous episode he states that he made the right choice ! Sure he is in bad shape, ill, etc. But seriously !
Glad Jo and Alex finally got to do it, Crowen is killing me, April is just annoying, Calzona better be over. Callie's line about not being the girl who danced in her underwear was really sad. She put up with a lot and Arizona does that. And you are right, she has not apologized properly. She's been playing the victim when Callie should have just dumped her ass ! Now, MerDer was funny. She fell asleep at the shower's entrance, just like that. He fell asleep in the parking lot. Priceless.

HATE Arizona. she stinks. acting all perky after cheating. not to mention that the person Callie whom she cheated on made the DIFFICULT decision HERSELF to amputate her leg and actually save her life after the plane crash??? i'd rather hear from April than Arizona any day. there's no hope for this couple really. Arizona can go stew in her one-legged misery in therapy. and AS IF she really cares about Sofia.

Where are the medical people. I am quite shocked that Webber would react that way to Meredith and her decisions. Due to the fact all medical personnel are aware of DNR and living wills. DNR stands for Do Not Resuscitate and living wills make it even clearer what medical measures to take in case you are unconscious. If Webber did not want extraordinary measures taken, HE SHOULD HAVE PUT IT IN WRITING. I do agree that Meredith has become sentimental lately, telling Richard's girlfriend that she wasn't his family was rude and out of bounds, but she should have also told him off when he made those statements at the bedside. Lucky for her, Bailey will let him know what is up. They acted appropriately, he left a proxy not a directive. It is entirely his fault that they took extreme measures to save his life. Now he just needs to get over it.

This was a pretty good episode.
I was so mad at Webber at the end! I hope it is just his pain talking and he is nicer soon!
I do not think there is hope for Calzona at all.
I am sad that Christina's storylines will be wrapping up this season. I know her and Owen will not get together in the end but I have always loved them as a couple.
I too do not care for April. However she will be sticking around.
I really like Jolex.

I like April. Stop hating on her.

Jolex are my absolute favourite thing about this show atm. Theyre so freaking cute!

Every time that April comes on screen, the story comes to a crashing HALT for me...I hate the way her character has been written....will she ever grow up? So immature for a physician/surgeon. I, too, found myself wishing she would fail her boards.

The episode was awesome, loved ALL of it!!! I love Alex and Jo they are sooooo CUTE!!!! I loved Cristina's advice to Alex.
I love the Jackson and Stephanie scenes, Jackson is sooo happy when he is around her. The interns are starting to rock, just like earlier Grey's seasons!!! The baby Bailey is super cute ^_^ I love how the baby's name is Derek but they call him Bailey, awesomely cute!!!! =D I can't believe April told Jackson that if she failed her boards again then he could forget that it was his fault that she failed the first time.

Grey's Anatomy Season 10 Episode 3 Quotes

Cristina: Haircut.
Arizona: Yes, you can't just say haircut. You have to say nice haircut. Otherwise, I'll think it's a bad haircut and I'm wearing a dress and I got a haircut because I want to look nice. Do I like nice?
Cristina: You look tense.

He's hungry. My nipples are of no use to him.
