Hector Elizondo to Reprise Role on Grey's Anatomy

by at . Comments

Hector Elizondo will reprise his role as Callie's father on Grey's Anatomy this season, according to a new report. Elizondo will appear in a Callie-centric episode slated to air sometime in November.

Further details on why the father of Dr. Torres (Sara Ramirez) resurfaces are under wraps for now.

Callie's Dad

Grey's just aired its 200th episode last night, and Carlos goes back a long way. Elizondo, 76, first appeared in Grey's Anatomy Season 3, after Callie had gotten married to George (T.R. Knight).

In subsequent years, Carlos was strongly opposed when Callie came out as a lesbian, but over time, he came to accept her and ultimately supported her marrying Arizona (Jessica Capshaw).

The fact that Callie and Arizona are currently estranged after the latter's now-infamous infidelity will surely make for an interesting conversation between father and daughter this time around.

Just glad to see Hector Elizondo back. Have enjoyed him for years on TV and movies.

I think he should come back to be chief of staff.

My first inclination, because I am a pessimist at heart, is that Carlos appearance will be the catalyst for Callie moving out and taking Sofia with her. I just have this feeling of impending doom that this move is on the horizon.

Callie's father is in town to tell her that he also had an affair and he had worked out it with her Mother. People make mistakes so snap out of it.

Not wishing ill on imaginary characters, but my random guess is that Callie's mother is dead. Because what the hell else can we heap on Callie's head?

@Megan- couldn't have said it better myself! This whole story line all I've been able to think about is the scene with Arizona and Callie's dad. And her telling him she's so awesome.

I sincerely hope he throws her whole "good man in a storm" conversation back in her face.

The fact is that in Grey's Anatomy, except for George's mother, you usually don't get to see the family of the main characters when they get injured or killed which I've always thought to be quite odd.

but he didnt come back when she had her crash. he's always been there when she was just fine. Your comment makes no sense, SAJ

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."

Meredith (closing voiceover)

Lexie: [narrating] Grief may be a thing we all have in common, but it looks different on everyone.
Mark: It isn't just death we have to grieve. It's life. It's loss. It's change.
Alex: And when we wonder why it has to suck so much sometimes, has to hurt so bad. The thing we gotta try to remember is that it can turn on a dime.
Izzie: That's how you stay alive. When it hurts so much you can't breathe, that's how you survive.
Derek: By remembering that one day, somehow, impossibly, you won't feel this way. It won't hurt this much.
Bailey: Grief comes in its own time for everyone, in its own way.
Owen: So the best we can do, the best anyone can do, is try for honesty.
Meredith: The really crappy thing, the very worst part of grief is that you can't control it.
Arizona: The best we can do is try to let ourselves feel it when it comes.
Callie: And let it go when we can.
Meredith: The very worst part is that the minute you think you're past it, it starts all over again.
Cristina: And always, every time, it takes your breath away.
Meredith: There are five stages of grief. They look different on all of us, but there are always five.
Alex: Denial.
Derek: Anger.
Bailey: Bargaining.
Lexie: Depression.
Richard: Acceptance.
