The Originals Round Table: "Apres Moi, le Deluge"

at .  Updated at .

We said goodbye to a fan favorite last week on The Originals - at least temporarily... we hope - and witnessed the rise of four powerful witches hellbent on...well, we're not sure yet.

Before we can find out what Celeste wants now that she's been resurrected, we have to break down the events that led to her return. And that Klaus-Marcel bro-hug.

Join the TV Fanatic Round Table panel for The OriginalsLeigh Raines, Miranda Wicker, and Heather Vee from Vampire-diaries.net, as we discuss "Apres Moi, le Deluge."

Then, be sure to sound off in the comments with your answers and invite your vampire-loving friends to do the same. (We compel you!)

--------------------------------------

What was your favorite scene or quote from The Originals Season 1 Episode 11?

Leigh: "Well this is no family reunion without our mother, I'll fetch her!"- Klaus. It's the little comments like that, and the fact that Klaus just smirks when it's announced he's keeping their dead mother in the basement, that infuse humor into an otherwise crazily dramatic show.

Heather: There are two quotes that really jumped out at me this episode. The first was Klaus telling Hayley, “Listen, Hayley, word of advice when dealing with Elijah: Don’t do as I do. Just apologize. He’s accomplished at many things but he’s a master of forgiveness.” The second if when Elijah tells Sabine/Celeste, "“I believe that when you love someone, and that person loves you in return, you’re uniquely vulnerable. They have a power to hurt you; it’s like nothing else.” Both of those quotes are loaded with so much foreshadowing and thematic meaning, and I'm just a sucker for that.

Miranda: I really loved Marcel trying to get back into Davina's good graces and holding her as she decided to offer herself up for the Harvest. Charles Michael Davis has played the many layers of Marcel so well that I just love him. It killed him to see Davina die which made her death even more difficult for the rest of us.

What does Celeste want?

Leigh: Good question. She wants power for sure. She's probably out for Klaus, because duh who isn't? Celeste likely wants to avenge her death and do whatever it was she was doing in her last life. I'm sure we will find out way more next week.

Heather: I'm not entirely sure of Celeste's agenda at this point. I agree with Leigh that revenge on Klaus may be her objective, but the fact she had plans in place for her burial before she died hints at something more.

Miranda: Elijah. Have you seen the man in a suit? Who doesn't want Elijah?

Pen a eulogy for Davina and the dead witches.

Leigh: Davina in her last moments, in that last conversation with Marcel, proved herself to be a beautiful and selfless soul. I loved her relationship with Marcel, the brother-sister feeling of it all. The other witches were too young to die and did so out of blind faith to older witches who quite frankly need to get their necks snapped by some Originals. I am ready to backhand Sophie. Sorry, did I lose the whole eulogy vibe with that?

Heather: Ha, Leigh! My eulogy is words from the young witch herself: "Make them pay."

Miranda: I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Davina, but she eulogized herself in her final scenes with Marcel. "If this is all I have, I've had a lot. I had Monique, and I had Tim, and I had someone who fought for me from the moment he met me. Most people don't get that even if they live to be a hundred." But again, she'll be back. She has to come back. Who will be witty BFFs with Josh??

Better moment: the Klaus-Marcel bro-hug or the Hayley-Elijah almost kiss?

Leigh: Klaus-Marcel bro-hug because ENOUGH OF THE ALMOST KISSES! I second what you wrote in your review Miranda, Julie Plec- when this happens there better be fireworks. Pass the nutella. As for the second person Elijah loves, I think it's Hayley. Like sure, he loved Katherine, in the way that everyone loves that beautiful, bitchy girl who develops early and hypnotizes all the boys in high school. They all "loved" her but not real, true love.

Heather: Oh, the Klaus and Marcel hug, without question. This relationship has worked for me on the surface, but I really felt its depth with that hug, and just the idea of Klaus being quite selfless in that moment and offering simple comfort was rather huge for him.  He didn't treat Marcel's grief as an annoyance, but something to acknowledge.

Miranda: The bro-hug!! My god! All we were missing there was the single man tear that Joseph Morgan does so well. Klaus' speech to Marcel about knowing what it's like to lose someone you love was yet another testament to why Klaus has become such a great and well-written character. He's so flawed and broken and lashes out because of his own pain, but deep down, he's just this incredibly tortured soul looking for connection.

Would you like to see Esther somehow awakened to fight back against the resurrected witches?

Leigh: Eh not really. Didn't enjoy her much on The Vampire Diaries, so she can stay on the other side.

Heather: Ugh, Esther. Maybe I could tolerate her as a force working for our (anti-)heroes, but I'm not sure it's going to play out that way. This is a woman who tried to kill her own children because she considered them abominations. (And I maintain that Mikael was killed way, way too soon on TVD. He was scarier than Esther ever was, truthfully.)

Miranda: I really wanted to like Esther when she first appeared on TVD, but then she just turned out to be a completely unlikable character. There was nothing redeeming about her. To say I'm not Esther's biggest fan would be an understatement, so no, I'd prefer she just stay in her coffin in the basement.

Where was Cami this episode?

Leigh: Sleeping off that de-compelling spell that had her bleeding out of her nostrils. Or drinking, plotting, working, researching, ya know...the normal things you do when everything you know is turned on its ass.

Heather: I don't know, but considering what she told Klaus at the end of "The Casket Girls," she is going to be pissed when she learns Davina is dead.

Miranda: Studying for a midterm. Or have we completely abandoned the fact that she's a graduate student?

The Originals Season 1 Episode 11 Quotes

Klaus: Are there any more inopportune deaths you'd like to wave in my face?
Elijah: Give me a month. I'll get you a list.

The Italians call them Strega. The Yoruba of West Africa call them Aje, meaning mother. Where my mother was from they called them Hexa, and here, we call them witch.
