Samuel Anderson is about to be transported to Doctor Who Season 8.

The actor (The History Boys, Gavin & Stacey) will come on board the BBC smash in the recurring role of Danny Pink, a school teacher who works with Jenna Coleman's Clara.

"I was so excited to join Doctor Who I wanted to jump and click my heels, but I was scared I might not come down before filming started! It's a quintessential part of British culture and I can't believe I'm part of it," Anderson said in a statement.

"It's an honor to be able to work alongside Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman and I can't wait to show people how my character becomes involved with such a fantastic duo!"

Capaldi, of course, debuted as the title character on the Doctor Who Season 7 finale.

With new episodes slated to air toward the end of this year, producer Steven Moffat added:

"For the fourth time in Doctor Who history, Coal Hill School is coming to the aid of the TARDIS. In 1963 teachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright accompanied the first Doctor.

"These days it's the turn of Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. And very soon now, Sam Anderson as Danny Pink will be entering the world of the Doctor. But how and why? Answers are coming later this year in Peter Capaldi's first season of Doctor Who!"

We can't wait! In the meantime, remember to watch Doctor Who online at TV Fanatic.

Doctor Who Quotes

Great men are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame. Whatever the cost.

Warrior Doctor

Listen. This is just a dream. Very clever people can hear dreams, so please, just listen. I know you're afraid, but being afraid is alright, because didn't anyone ever tell you fear is a super power. Fear can make you faster, and cleverer and stronger and one day, you're going to come back to this barn and on that day, you're going to be very afraid indeed. But that's OK, because if you're very wise and very strong, fear doesn't have to make you cruel or cowardly. Fear can make you kind.
