A seriously dark Damon. A new witch at Whitmore. And a ball!
The Vampire Diaries Season 5 Episode 13 featured all these events and more, along with Matt being taken captive and Katherine continuing to scheme.
Where do our Round Table panelists of Matt Richenthal, Miranda Wicker and Leigh Raines stand on these topics? What do they hope to see when the show returns with The Vampire Diaries Season 5 Episode 14?
Scroll down. Chime in. Find out!
What was your favorite scene or quote from the episode?
Matt: Caroline was on fire for most of the hour. How long will it take a new witch, under pressure, to figure out a really difficult spell?!? She actually has no idea.
Miranda: Matt and Tyler figuring out that Nadia is up to something and that something is helping Katherine. If Tyler's going to be in Mystic Falls instead of New Orleans, he needs something to do besides just drink himself stupid. Matt is always welcome on my screen and I sort of like the idea that the one human left in Mystic Falls might get to play the hero. Team Matt.
Leigh: Katherine's "dear diary" moment in the beginning was so funny. I do enjoy myself some Matt humor.
Can Damon ever be redeemed?
Matt: I'm sure he will be in the eyes of many fans at some point... but he really shouldn't be. The guy is a cold-blooded killer. His humanity wasn't suddenly switched off or something. He simply got dumped (technically, he dumped Elena even) and went on a murdering spree. The guy should be eating full pints of Ben & Jerry's. Not the necks of innocent victims.
Miranda: Of course he can. This is The Vampire Diaries. Redeeming Damon is sort of its thing. How long will it take? I don't know. But I kind of love asshole Damon. (Who am I kidding? I love any Damon.) The snarkier and darker the better.
Leigh: Only if he wants to be. I'm not sure he does.
Which couple are you rooting for most to reconcile: Stefan and Elena, Damon and Elena or Caroline and Tyler?
Matt: Damon and Elena. Not because I necessarily care about them back together... but because it will help open the door for Caroline and Stefan. Staroline FTW!
Miranda: Damon and Elena. No question. They're my end-game.
Leigh: I think Elena should try to hook up with someone OUTSIDE of the Salvatore family. There are so many hottie vamps and hybrids out there, ya know?
Who makes a better Elena, Elena or Katherine?
Matt: Katherine. Non-sensical question aside, I do need to give serious props to Nina Dobrev. You could tell she was playing Katherine as someone trying to play Elena, which is pretty impressive, considering the actress really does play Elena as well. A very fine line to walk and she did it perfectly.
Miranda: Hmmm. I could actually give serious thought to this one and make a case for both. Elena obviously makes the best Elena because, well, she IS Elena. But Katherine has fun as Elena and makes her less of a wet noodle.
Leigh: Well, Elena is characterized as someone always in trouble, kinda whiney, sometimes a downer. Katherine's not sad enough. She's too funny!
The Vampire Diaries Season 5 is on hiatus until February 27. Give us at least one wish for its return.
Matt: A really, really good new villain. We know that Markos is on the way, so let's hope he changes things up a lot and helps bring a lackluster season to a strong conclusion.
Miranda: I'm ready to get Katherine out of Elena's body and do anything else with that story than what we're doing. I do like Katherine, but not this much. The Travelers need to hit the road.
Leigh: Get rid of Nadia! She's so annoying. I hope Matt's the one to do it now that he figured out Katherine is traveling in Elena. Donovan needs a major win.
