Bassam "Barry" Al-Fayeed escaped from his dictator father and royal family when he was 16. After 20 years away, he returns with his American family to attend his nephew's wedding on Tyrant Season 1 Episode 1.

Barry's forced to confront his past, while his wife tries to break down the wall he's built around him. As soon as he returns to the palace, Barry gets drawn into family business and politics.

Barry's brother, Jamal, is an abusive man with psychological problems. He's in place to take over leadership of the country when his father dies, but may not be the best choice.
