Chalk up another big guest star for The Good Wife.

CBS has announced via press released that the Emmy Award winner is making his return to television with a recurring role on The Good Wife Season 6.

He will appear on multiple episodes as cable news legal commentator who is so sick by the corruption and homicide rate in Chicago that he runs for office in order to affect change.

Pierce won four Emmys for his work as Dr. Niles Crane, but has mostly appeared on Broadway since the end of that sitcom.

"We couldn’t be more thrilled and flattered that David’s making The Good Wife his first TV role since ‘Frasier,’” said Executive Producers/Showrunners Robert and Michelle King.  “We’re tremendous fans of his dramatic skills as well as his comedy."

The Good Wife Season 6 Episode 1 will be titled "The Line" and it will air on Sunday, September 21.
