NCIS Season 12 Premiere: To Russia, Without Love

by at . Comments

On the NCIS Season 12 premiere, Gibbs and McGee will be leaving on a jet plane.

Their plan is to be back again quickly, as the agents head to Russia to bring back a computer engineer with connections to important information... but what kind of season premiere would it be if everything went according to plan?

CBS has released the following photo from the opener, titled "Twenty Clicks," along with the official description.

First, a look at the image:

Now, with the obligatory SPOILER WARNING in effect for NCIS Season 12 Episode 1, here's an idea of what viewers can expect on September 23:

Gibbs and McGee travel to Russia to safely escort home an NCIS computer engineer connected to classified intel, but their mission is compromised and they are forced to go off the grid while hunted by a Russian mercenary group.

Meanwhile, the team in D.C. frantically uses every asset and inter-agency contact they have in an attempt to locate their missing team members.

Mark Harmon (Leroy Jethro Gibbs) - NCIS
Mark Harmon was a star long before he signed up for NCIS. Die hard fans might remember him from the primetime soap Flamingo Road, Dr. Caldwell for St. Elsewhere, or the third wheel in the Dave and Maddie triangle on Moonlighting. However, we're still mourning his untimely death as Agent Simon Donovan, CJ's romantic interest on The West Wing.

Wish I could be excited. As usual Gibbs, this time with McGee, gets the most action packed dramatic story of the season while Tony sits in the office and clicks the clicker. Wish Gibbs, McGee or Bishop was my favorite. It really sucks to be a Tony fan. I don't guess he'll get much of anything again this season. All the good stories will go to Gibbs, as usual.

Oh, I don't know... I just watched the first episode preview and it looks to me as if Tony gets to come to the rescue of Gibbs and McGee. So you may all be pleasantly surprised!

I will be surprised if Gibbs hasn't already handled all the danger by the time Tony gets there. So if we're lucky, Tony will get to stand with a gun in the last 10 seconds of the episode while Gibbs and McGee survive a helicopter crash, wolves, and a massive fire fight. The writers go out of their way to give us hero Gibbs, and non entity Tony these days.

Now that Ziva is gone, Tony has nothing to do or care about.

Wow, insulting much? You must have been in the camp that tweeted Michael Weatherly after Cote CHOSE to leave, and told him he might as well leave because he's useless with Ziva. Sorry, but Tony has there and relevant before Ziva and he's still there. If Glasburg chooses to under-utilize the character because he doesn't have a clue what Tony is about, it's just a sad continuation of how his character has been damaged during the later Tiva years.

I have to disagree here. I think now he can shine because he won't have to be in her shadow or used as only a prop for her or stand around because the writers only wanted her to be competent and no one else (except Gibbs of course).

I hear you. ony's my fave too. I started watching for the Gibbs/DiNozzo dynamic that's long since been shredded and lost, sadly. But I'm hopeful about for this year about everything and that includes Tony's role based on various reports and cast tweets I've seen.

I think they barely had any scenes together in season 11. So much for "renewing" that relationship. As for this season, I expect zip for Tony. All they have is a new love interest. who cares? I want him to be a real agent again.

I don't see much ahead for Tony. It's become the super GIBBS show and giving Tony anything remotely flattering might take the spotlight off of wonder GIBBS and that's a huge no no.

I want the writers to bring the competent, capable agent they gave us teasing, tiny glimpses of from time to time only to pull back into the comic relief and the prop for Ziva. And I want to see that awesome agent consistently. And I want all of them to work cohesively in a team/family dynamic. It doesn't feel to me as though I'm asking for too much. Looking forward to finding out.

I quite agree that the show is better without Ziva. Her character had become too central and Tony's only reasons to exist seemed to be to prop her and her multitude of dramas up, and of course to provide self humiliating comic relief. I really don't have any hope that Tony will get much of anything again this season. Gary Glasburg gives all the nail biter action stories, emotional stories, and hero moments to GIbbs. I don't think that the writers are actually allowed to make Tony look too good. Weatherly's acting and Tonys' character might turnout to be more compelling than Harmon's Gibbs and that's against the rules.

I have lots of enthusiasm for the new season. Glad we're heading to Russia. I've tired of the Mossad mess and middle east that's been so much the focus for years. I've got a really good feeling about this year.

I miss all of the great Mossad characters. What a shame they were all tossed in the trash when the show decided to pretend Ziva never existed. Those arcs were my favorite. I think this year will go back to Super Gibbs while putting Tony in the background.

Agreed plus I hated how they were poetrayed they were like the Vulcans of NCIS.

And ziva nuts will whine and complain in 3...2...1...

So where are the Ziva nuts you were expecting? :-)

The OBBC cats haven't noticed this thread yet... They'll litter box it as soon as one of the minions finds it, and posts an action message to their war page...

What is an "OBBC?"

Avatar
@ Curious

A group of 'fans' who belive that the entire purpose of NCIS soley exists because of Cote Depablo and her character Ziva. They might as well call themselves Cote-hovah's witnesses.

@ Curious

OK, so I googled it. "Operation Bring Back Ziva" Not something I'll be joining.

@ Curious

Google it.

I'm wondering about that too.

LOL I love the OBBC conspiracy theory. so where is this war page?

You guys take yourselves way too seriously. Calm down, you have the litter box all to yourselves. You can roll around in it all you want, Ya think?

Tony: WMD?
Abby: What would McGee do?
Tony: That's two Ws, Abs.

Vance: Our intel says Sergei survived.
Gibbs: What? How? I hit him. He went down.
Vance: He got up. No body was recovered. And wherever he is now, knowing all this? There's a good chance he'll be gunning for us.
Gibbs: Not if we find him first.
