A couple of awards later and we're back with America's favorite family!
Modern Family Season 6 Episode 1 picks up three months after the two-part finale when Cam and Mitchell finally said "I do."
Did you think they'd still be in the honeymoon stage? Well, at least one half of the couple was. Any guesses as to who?
Of course it was Cam! I kind of wish they'd gone the other way and surprised us by having Mitchell be the one who was still feeling super-sappy. It would've thrown the viewers for a loop after five seasons. But alas, it was Cam who was smothering Mitchell with flowers, presents, and surprises.
You'd think there's no such think as too romantic but I think part of keeping things special is the frequency by which they occur. It's important to treat your partner well, but special moments aren't special if they happen every single day.
Cam's gestures would've made me nuts too. So no, I don't think Mitchell was too cynical. Especially when Cam surprised him in the office!
Cam: Hey counselor, what do I have to do to get you to drop that suit?
Mitchell: Cam what are you doing here?
Cam: Surprising my hugs-band!
Jay and Gloria's fight was typical Jay and Gloria. I felt bad that some young punks were making fun of Jay at Barneys. That's a pretty hip grandfather! It's nice he's trying to keep himself looking sharp. It's not like he's walking around in cheesy, too trendy stuff. Jay usually looks classic.
You knew Gloria would fight him tooth and nail on that argument. The best part was when she screeched at the surprise party and then looked perfect in under 2 minutes. Typical Gloria.
The Dunphys were my favorite. Phil, Claire, Haley, and Luke were having a relaxing and positive summer. Usually it's Claire and Alex are the realistic and negative ones. I was surprised to see Claire so laid back! Remember that whole episode about the realists versus the dreamers?
Well it turns out that the happy Dunphy clan was also clueless. Alex may have brought a little bit of bad luck, but she also brought a lot of smarts.
