We'll see what steps this unexpected trio take toward present day Mystic Falls on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 5 tomorrow night, but The CW has released a new clip that makes it clear Damon finally has some hope.
But will it be misguided hope?
Damone plans on going home and spending time very quality time with Elena... who, of course, has gone ahead and had her romantic memories of her presumed-dead boyfriend wiped clean.
She's even turned down the chance to have them resurrected again.
So this could be an awkward reunion if it ever happens. Though let's be honest: it is going to happen. It's just a matter of when and how.
