Castle Round Table: So Not Their Honeymoon

at .

They kept saying it was so not their honeymoon, yet it absolutely was. Castle Season 7 Episode 7 was the honeymoon episode, at least until the happy couple gets the chance to go off to that tropical island.

Our TV Fanatics Jim Garner, Stacy Glanzman, Chandel Charles and Christine Orlando are joined by Angie from The 12th a Castle Fan Forum to discuss the best wild west outfits, the difference in Mrs Castle and Mr Beckett, and their favorite scenes from "Once Upon a Time in the West"

Which was your favorite old west outfit from the episode?

Jim: I know it will sound cliche, but the Bolero outfit Kate had on was pretty awesome. Sure it it was a total mashup of items, but it really worked on her.

Stacy: I have to go with the black outfit Beckett had on solely for Castle's reaction to it.

Chandel: Can I just say I am a fan of costume episodes period? So in that case there was no favorite, just an overall appreciation for the attention to detail in the costume department!

Angie:  Hands down, nothing tops the black corset. Yes, the white peasant dress was a very sexy second, but nothing can compete with Kate in black leather!

Christine:  I'll admit that the black corset outfit stopped my husband cold but I liked the white dress at the end. It was sexy but also frilly and romantic and a nice reminder that they were on their honeymoon.

Were Esposito and Ryan right to be so upset about being left out of the wedding?

Jim: Given that Rick and Kate managed to call Alexis and Martha, it doesn't seem like it would have taken that much to call Espo, Ryan, and Lanie. I certainly would have been hurt in their shoes.

Stacy: Yes, I would be upset too if I were them. I assume they didn't get a call because they were working though (Lanie too). They don't have the type of jobs that it would be easy to just up and leave for the Hamptons.

Chandel: Yes and no. They have been through as much as Beckett and Castle in a lot of ways and watched their relationship develop, so I would have been a little hurt if I was in their position.

Angie:  It's one thing to feel bad you weren't a part of your friends' very special day, but in the end, you have to respect that it was their day and they had every right to do it on their own terms — especially, as Gates pointed out, given all Castle and Beckett have been through. I think they walked that line quite well in the end.

Christine:  I liked Lanie's reaction. She was upset but got over it quickly and was happy for Kate. Esposito and Ryan were taking it too far and Gates was great at calling them out on it. Giving them the vacation days as a wedding gift was the perfect comeuppance.

Harmonica lessons, a day in a saloon, or hog tying. Choose your wild west adventure.

Jim: I was raised in Texas, I've done hog tying, cattle wrangling, harmonica lessons, and even the occasional cow tipping. So any of it would just remind me of my childhood.

Stacy: I've heard the harmonica is pretty difficult and I have no interest in hog tying. Drinking however I'm pretty good at so I'd be down for a day in the saloon.

Chandel: I would want a harmonica lesson. I am a musical person and I happen to have a harmonica I haven't used yet!

Angie: Um, where's the horseback riding or nature hike? Honestly, none of the above remotely appeal to me. Sorry, I guess I'm not much of a cowgirl!

Christine: I'd love to be able to play the harmonica well, and hog tying sounds like a hoot.

Now that they are married, do you see a difference in Mr. & Mrs. Castle?

Jim: I do. When they were splitting up to do their own task they kissed goodbye like couples would do. It was pretty awesome.

Stacy: Yeah, they're definitely acting like newlyweds and it's really cute. I'm enjoying every minute of it while it lasts.

Chandel: No, they seem to be having as much fun, and engaged in as much teamwork as always--and I love it.

Angie: They are as adorable, witty, and well-matched as they've always been. I loved the references to their new status, and I think we saw the start of added security and familiarity that inevitably comes with marriage. But they were definitely still "them."

Christine: Yes! They seem more affectionate. They touch more, kiss more and overall appear more secure in their relationship. It's really sweet to watch and I hope we see a lot more of it.

Was there anything that disappointed you about the episode?

Jim: Not one Firefly/Serenity reference by Nathan Fillon. I was really hoping there would have been at least one nod to the fans.

Stacy: I'm with Jim. My friend and I were talking before the episode that we really hoped one of Castle's outfits would resemble Mal's from Firefly.

Chandel:  I'll join my round table colleagues about the lack of a costume resembling Mal's, though I think we did that a while back, so I was easily forgiving of it!

Angie: Not one second was disappointing!

Christine: I had hoped that Castle would be the hero at the end when he and Grady were drawing down on one another since we know Castle is a good shot but from what I hear, pulling a six shooter and firing a Glock are very different things so I'm willing to let it go. Besides, Rick's "fastest gun in the east" line to his wife was kind of cute.

What was your favorite "Once Upon a Time in the West" scene?

Jim: I loved how kid-like Rick was when they first arrived at Diamondback Ranch. Him asking for whiskey by every name in the book except "whiskey" had me laughing pretty hard.

Stacy: I have to go with the showdown. Castle fumbling with the gun as Kate came in to save the day was classic Castle and I loved it.

Chandel: Probably the sequence where Beckett and Castle were explaining they got married to Espo, Ryan and Lanie. Their reactions were pretty priceless, especially when Ryan and Espo crossed their legs when Castle tried to smooth things over with them. They just weren't having it!

Angie: There were too many to name! Caskett-wise, the campsite scene was romantic, sexy, and funny. But the gossip session with the gay cowboy was hilarious without being a trite cliche, and I can't help but love that!

Christine: I loved the end where Kate lassoed Rick. He was so concerned about her making it back to work that he hardly noticed that his wife had him all tied up. She looked lovely in the dress and it was a great reminder that this was their honeymoon. I await some awesome fanfiction stories that take it from there!

Castle Season 7 Episode 7 Quotes

Esposito: Really, we didn't get that call.
Ryan: Once again, not invited.

Lanie: I am your maid of honor. I haven't had a carb in months just in case I had to put that damn dress back on.
Kate: And you look great.
Lanie: Kate, save the flattery. You owe me dinner. I'm picking the restaurant and we're ordering all the desserts.
