Chasing Life Season 1 Episode 13 Review: Guess Who's Coming to Donate?

at .

On Chasing Life Season 1 Episode 13 April's life got considerably more complicated.

Let's speak about Natalie first. After the way she acted last week, we all concluded she was being a brat. This week totally changed the way I feel about her. We got to see a young woman who hasn't been involved in the lives of her sisters, through no fault of her own.

Brenna and Natalie - Chasing Life

I don't think we were the only ones who knew that she would be some sort of match for April. This is a drama series after all. It was nice to get further insight and understanding to her character. Sara assumed the girl was being bratty after chickening out of the bone marrow transplant, but she had a reason. It's not every day you hear that your body will be drilled into, is it?

It was obvious Brenna would be caught drinking with Natalie, but it was heartbreaking to see the reaction on Natalie's face that her sister was just using her to ensure she gave up her bone marrow. Did anyone tear up a little when April visited her and basically told her they're sisters?

It looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of Natalie since she's decided to help April. Yes, it looks like our favorite writer's chances of being cancer free are on the rise!

Sara's comments hit a nerve with Olivia, who finally showed her true colors. It couldn't have been easy for Sara to share the same air as the woman who had an affair with her late husband. The way Olivia let rip about how he cheated on Sara in front of everyone was uncalled for. Deep down, Olivia is a nasty piece of work.

Elsewhere... Leo taking April off his visiting list was the worst thing he could do. Before his operation and coma he was the guy that made April embrace who she was and not take anything for granted. The poor young woman obviously feels a connection to him. Regardless of the reasons why he did it, April shouldn't have been so damn quick to forget it.

Sure, she seemed a little stalker-y the way she kept appearing at his appointments, but it speaks a lot about how she thinks of him. It's difficult to imagine these two being romantically involved again any time soon. He is on a long road to recovery and April probably will be when she gets the transplant from Natalie.

Dominic got much more annoying tonight. Firstly, when he shoved into April at work. It was so awkward. Obviously, April hurt the guy, but you'd think he would cut her some slack knowing what she has been through. The way he has been sleeping his way through the women of Boston makes me think that he's hurting over his breakup with her.

Speaking of the workplace, Aaron got even more twisted. The guy demoted April essentially for doing one wrong thing and then practically forced her to write a cancer story that would make his wife cry. He sure left his ethics at the door when he took up the post at the paper. Going forward, I hope Raquel somehow edges him out of the way and takes his job. She could probably run the paper a darn sight better than him.

Emma continued to disapprove of Sara's relationship with George. In any case, it's going to be really weird at first for April and Brenna, but I think in a way they will come to terms with it. The family has survived so many hurdles up until now that this should only be a blip on their radar.

"Guess Who's Coming To Donate?" was another fantastic installment of the series. The show is going in an entirely different direction than what we expected, but it is certainly for the better and I can't wait to see what comes next.

Other tidbits from the episode:

  • How funny were the scenes with Beth and her roommate? Back when the character was introduced she seemed really nice, but now that Beth's spent a few months with her, she appears to be a total nightmare!
  • Dominic's chick finding the bra in his bedroom was also a hilarious scene. As if she was going to believe that Bet sometimes got ready in his room.
  • April telling two different people that their cars are being towed to get to get into somewhere she couldn't was excellent, especially her comment about it to Leo.
  • There was a Greer shaped hole in the hour. We need more of her and Brenna ASAP.
