Chasing Life Season 1 Episode 18 Review: Rest in Peace

Well, that got serious real fast.

On Chasing Life Season 1 Episode 18, April continued to worry that her cancer returned.

Managing Anxiety - Chasing Life

I'll be honest, I didn't think it looked to good for her when she the blood came from her mouth when she freshened up at Dom's house. My heart skipped a beat, then I realized it was all a cruel joke played by the producers to shock us.

Anyone in April's situation has every right to be paranoid about their illness. It takes up a drastic portion of your life and it can ultimately mean life or death. I'm betting everyone else was ecstatic to learn that she was okay.

April is continuing to mature before our eyes. She has decided to follow a religion to keep her at ease and she got a book about Buddhism from none other than Dom's mom (guest star Illeana Douglas).

Yes, let that sink in. In an interesting turn of events, she was released and Dom is struggling to reconnect with her. She seems like a nice enough woman, but we've not seen enough of her yet to make a final call.

April let the drugs talk for her when she informed her that she technically cheated on Dom. One thing that shocked me was that Dom had never told Graham about his mom being inside. This shows he trusted April considerably more than his best friend.

A considerable amount of time was spent trying to re open the old wounds with Dapril, but it all came to a screeching halt with the news that Leo was in a train crash and might be dead.

This came out of the left field, and for a few moments, I actually wondered if it was going to happen. April was out of control and inconsolable for a few minutes, until she rushed into her house and found Leo, alive and safe in her kitchen.

No, talk to me. Are you really saying you wish you were dead?

April

These two need to make up soon and stop this will they/won't they nonsense. I don't even care that Dom forgives April. I don't forgive him. He's been nothing but annoying and should pay the consequences. He doesn't deserve April anymore. His chance came and went and the sooner he realizes that, the better.

Elsewhere Sara wanted to make sure Brenna got into the right college. She quickly ruffled Natalie's feathers when she made a comment about her stupidity when she was trying to make Brenna feel better.

Well, at least you're admitting it, but Sara, I'm not my mom and by the way, Brenna's not you.

Natalie

Natalie is a very forward character, so it was obvious she was going to come to blows with Sara sooner or later. I especially liked that she wasn't all gins blazing. She appeared at the Carver residence and said how she felt and in the process, made Sara understand how she really feels.

Sara can be very opinionated about pretty much everything. It is her job after all. She was taken aback by Natalie, so it was good to see her be spoken down to for once.

I don't think she was pleased with Brenna's intention to go traveling for a year, but she has to put up with it or she runs the risk of losing her daughter.

"Rest In Peace" was another solid hour of this fine show. I really don't know how it will all end in a few weeks. I do think one of the closing storylines will involve April's cancer returning.

Other tidbits from the episode:

  • How funny was April when she took the cookie? Dom's mum brought her back down to earth when she commented about breaking her legs.
  • Where is Greer? I expected at least a few scenes after her return on Chasing Life Season 1 Episode 17.
  • Emma's jokes weren't the same tonight. Sure she has her moments, but she is normally hilarious. She should have a chat show.
  • I did not expect Graham to ask Beth to move in. I thought it was another couple heading to splitsville.
