Summer TV Awards: Mr. Robot Rules All!

It was unique. It was suspenseful. It was shocking. It was filmed unlike any show in recent memory and, if future seasons hold up to Season 1, Mr. Robot will go down as one of the best shows in television history. Yes, we said it.

Rami Malek on Mr. Robot. The drama doesn't just take viewers inside Elliott's head; it makes you truly feel like you ARE Elliott. And Malek brings Elliott to life in all his confused, trippy, intense glory.

Hey, remember True Detective Season 1?!? Let's just pretend Season 2, its cliche-ridden storytelling, its complicated/boring plot and its strange insistance of focusing so heavily on Vince Vaughn's awful character, never existed.

UnREAL took us behind the scenes of a Bachelor like reality series and made viewers immediately fall in love with the story and characters, whether they actually liked them or not. Waiting week to week was almost unbearable.

Proving history can be entertaining and successfully taken to series (albeit one we wish hadn't been rushed along quite to the degree it was), The Astronaut Wives Club hit all the marks. If ABC had initially had more faith in the formula, they might have had a long-running, inspiring series out of it.

Is there even a contest here? The words that tumbled out of the mouths of the poor actors on True Detective Season 2 couldn't be stopped or understood.

Brendan Donovan became a man and got married on Ray Donovan. It wasn't without its complications, but there was a rehearsal dinner, a full church wedding with Catholic mass and a reception with beautiful dancing for the lucky couple. The family strife and sometimes cutting jokes made it feel like every other family event we've attended.

The entirety of Beauty and the Beast has become a been there done that scenario to the point it's no longer amusing. Cat and Vincent deserved their moment to shine and they almost got it. The key is almost. The wedding was ultimately cancelled, meaning no matter how beautifully arranged, it was pointless.

Fans began a Renew Killjoys campaign pretty early on into the series run. Thankfully, it was a success, because it's hard to imagine what might have happened with a bunch of raging, unhappy fans with their joy killed had it not been granted more life!

Under the Dome slipped to new lows in Season 3 with the introduction of some pretty terrible characters. It's not often fans want a show they previously loved to be cancelled, but they got their wish. It won't be coming back again. Bon Voyage!

On UnREAL Rachel and Adam came together under the most crazy of circumstances and straight off the bat, us at home saw them as a romantic pairing, before even the show took that route. The chemistry between Freddie Stroma and Shiri Appleby was off the charts and we couldn't help but root for them. Sure, they weren't the nicest of people, but they sure were nice to look at. It just sucks that Freddie Stroma probably won't have time to return to the show since he's moving to Westeros and all that jazz.

Oh yay! It's True Detective again. Seeing Frank limp off into the afterlife was really something to behold. OK, so it really wasn't something to behold. Nor was the rest of the finale. Didn't we say the same about the entire second season?

Despite the manifold shortcomings with the show, Halle Berry and Jeffrey Dean Morgan have amazing chemistry, so when Molly and JD kiss, sparks fly on Extant!

On Suits, Harvey and Louis have been at each other's throats for years. They have been simmering just below boil and after Donna started working for Louis and Harvey slept with Louis' sister, it reached the boiling point. A real fight ensued, and it was heartbreaking. Harvey PUNCHED Louis and everything. We managed to capture the moment, slo-mo style. Ugly, right?

Set in 1700s Cornwall, Poldark is based on books by Winston Graham. The writing is great, the actors are fantastic and the scenery is gorgeous. It shows human struggles during that time, the danger of taking risks and a dash of romance. If the Bronte sisters were hired to write a high production value soap opera, Poldark would be the result. If you want steamy romances, family feuds, an amoral upper class, and a shirtless Aidan Turner out on the moors, Poldark is for you.

On a show dealing with cancer, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone when a character succumbs to the illness. When Chasing Life tackled Leo’s sudden death, however, viewers were left stunned. After all, he and his wife April had just walked down the aisle the week before, and had an entire (albeit, tentative) future ahead of them. Watching as April realized that her new groom lay dead next to her in bed was heart wrenching and the biggest tearjerker of summer television.

While the first season of Power was engrossing and a true summer treat, Power Season 2 was in a class all its own. Leads Omari Hardwick and Lela Loren anchored the show, but a host of supporting characters and top notch writing propelled the second season to monster ratings and acclaim. Here's hoping next summer will be even better.

Yes, we originally thought that the concept of a mother sleeping with her adult son’s best friend was a bit eye roll worthy, but Significant Mother took us by surprise. It is sweet, fun, quirky, and sexy. Krista Allen is downright adorable as Lydia (the mom), and we actually wish there were more scenes where Nathaniel Buzolic’s Jimmy had his shirt off. Overall, Significant Mother has been the sweetest, funniest comedy of the summer.

True Detective!! Awww. Come on! You saw that coming a mile away, right? See, the funny thing about this is it wasn't supposed to be a comedy, but it was really awful, so awful it was funny, but in a bad way, making it a terrible comedy. Get it? Sure you do. Now laugh along. Get the dust out from between your ears. Or whatever the hell this ridiculous piece of dialog was supposed to do other than make us laugh.
