Shades of Blue Round Table: Did Woz Go Too Far?

at .

The world came crashing down on Woz and Stahl as they assured one another’s personal destruction on Shades of Blue Season 2 Episode 2

Our TV Fanatics Stacy Glanzman, Jasmine Peterson, and Christine Orlando debate whether Woz went too far, who is the weak link, and is Julia expendable after “Eye of the Hurricane.”

If one member on Woz’s crew were to turn on the rest, who do you think it would be?

Stacy: Hmm, maybe Tess. She's in debt, she was shot, she admits she makes bad decisions...that's all kind of a recipe for disaster. I don't really think she will turn on them, but if she were desperate enough, anything is possible.

Jasmine: I can see that, Stacy. I think Lohman is still a wild-card who can blow things up. I never rule him out of anything.

Christine: I think if you put enough pressure on any of them, it’s possible. But I’m going to go with Tess. She’s got two kids and I don’t see her risking prison time for her pals. If she’s given an out, she might just take it.

Were their any winners in Woz and Stahl’s game of one-upmanship?

Stacy: Nope, two very big losers. They both lost someone important to them, and they have nothing to show for it. This is what happens when you let emotions get the best of rational thought.

Jasmine: Good grief. Not even close. Woz was a total hothead and it interfered with him thinking logically and long-term.

Why screw up the chance to gather valuable Intel via the bug, for the sake of petty machismo? He knew Stahl had all sorts of things on him, and he wouldn't be the type to take anything lying down. Ugh.

Christine: No. They made sure that both their worlds are crashing. Either of them could have used that information to control the other, but instead they had descended into a measuring contest to prove who was top dog. Problem is, they both ended up on the bottom.

Do you think Woz should have used that video to ruin Stahl’s chances of getting custody of his son?

Stacy: No, as I said before, Woz let his emotions get the best of him, and he didn't think that through at all.

He would have been better off biding his time, and seeing if anything else came from those cameras before alerting Stahl to their existence. All Woz managed to do was piss him off, and Stahl got his revenge.

Jasmine: I completely agree. It wasn't a smart move at all. What a waste. It was such a low blow, too.

Granted, Stahl did start the whole using kids to get to the parents thing, but damn. Someone needs to brush up on "The Art of War."

Christine: It was a stupid move. Woz gave away all his leverage in one move. The point of carrying a big stick is in not having to use it to get what you want. I really thought that Woz was smarter than this.

Should Harlee turn Julia in in order to get her crew free of Stahl?

Stacy: Ugh, I don't know. I obviously don't trust Stahl as far as I can throw him, so if she were to give up what she knows, she'd have to make damn sure she had an iron-clad agreement getting them out of this mess.

I don't see Harlee turning Julia in, at least not this early. They'll try to find another way.

Jasmine: She's already in it deep with Woz. She genuinely wants to be on his good side, and turning in Julia will ruin her chances at that.

Also, Stahl is a snake who can't seem to keep his word. It's a hell of a risk for Harlee to take if it'll end with Stahl screwing her over.

Christine: If she knew it would save her and her crew, she might consider it, but as was already said, Stahl is such an untrustworthy snake that it isn’t worth it. Honestly, other than Stahl’s untimely death, I don’t see how they get out of this.

What, if anything disappointed you on Shades of Blue Season 2 Episode 2?

Stacy: I don't think there was anything specific that disappointed me. Obviously, bad decisions were made, but that's what fuels the drama.

Jasmine: Woz blowing their shot at valuable Intel by exposing Stahl's Harlee fetish?

Having to sit through another scene of Stahl letting his borderline sexual predator flag fly after breaking into Harlee's apartment again? Nothing really stood out per se.

Christine: Is there some kind of rule that says that every time Harlee wears her bathrobe that it has to hang open to show as much skin as possible?

We get it. Jennifer Lopez is beautiful and sexy, but when a man breaks into your apartment, I think securing your robe is high on the list of things to do.

What was your favorite quote or scene from “Eye of the Hurricane”?

Stacy: I think my favorite scene was the end between Harlee and Stahl. It was intense, and I definitely felt on edge. Plus, Stahl is just so creepy. Now that he's lost custody of his son, he's a loose cannon.

Jasmine: The Hurricane Sandy flashback when drunk Woz had that father/daughter moment with Harlee, ironically while mourning his actual daughter. So many feels.

Christine: I loved this Shades of Blue quote when Woz was strangling Stahl as it made me laugh in a really dark way…

When I find you in Hell, I'm gonna do this again.
