Well, it only took two episodes for me to get emotional. 

Every season there are a few scenes that get me and Power Season 4 Episode 2 delivered a gut punch at the end, as Tommy and Ghost had their first interaction.

The Tommy/Ghost dynamic has always been the heart of this show and it's always refreshing when they can push aside their egos and pride and let themselves be vulnerable with the other.

Ghost has plenty of reason to be vulnerable as Mak, Sandoval and company are now seeking the death penalty. 

I have a love/hate relationship with Ghost, as I imagine many fans do. That's fairly typical when the lead character of a series in an anti-hero.

And while Ghost has done enough in his lifetime to warrant life imprisonment, it's fairly frustrating to see him go down for the Knox murder and currently be outsmarted by the likes of Sandoval and Angela. 

Not to mention good ole Sax, who thinks it's the perfect time to expose Ghost's relationship with Angela in open court.

Having the two conversations between Ghost and Proctor and Angela and Mak cut back and forth was a powerful scene.

Besides "Please state your name for the record", Ghost would have to lie over and over if he was put on the stand. And Angela? It's been years in the making, but I think this would finally be the thing to get her disbarred. 

Speaking of Angela, I hope we get to see more scenes of her with Tasha because they are gold. Is it weird I want these two to work together to prove Ghost's innocence and develop a begrudging respect for one another? It's unrealistic but a girl can dream. 

While Ghost is continuing to struggle in prison and keep up the facade of squeaky clean James St. Patrick, Tommy is going through the first of many meltdowns I'm sure he will have this season.

There are two things you can count on every season of Power; Ghost and Angela will hook up and Tommy will have a psychotic break. 

Now Tommy does have a lot on his plate being the new connections and having to deal with everyone's paranoia over Ghost's arrest. But like always, instead of rationally thinking things through, Tommy begins to fly off the handle, threatening distributors and running over legs.

It's vintage Tommy and Joseph Sikora plays it to delicious perfection, but these schemes of Tommy's rarely ever work out for him.

Tommy: I told him to stay away from that bitch.
Proctor: I told him that too.

Proctor warns Tommy that now is not the time to be an actively involved drug kingpin, alas he forget that the prosecution would love to bring him down right alongside Ghost. Will Tommy listen? That's like asking if Angela will make a mistake at work. OF COURSE SHE WILL. 

Elsewhere, we still have to endure Kanan every week creeping around, tainting Tariq and slowly carrying out his master revenge plan. Wake me up when this storyline gets interesting because right now all I can do is roll my eyes.

Putting two of the characters I am least invested in together leaves me incredibly bored whenever they're together.  

And don't even get me started on Dre. He started out promising and now he's merely a man being used and abused and I have zero sympathies for him. The day he decided to keep it a secret that Kanan was alive, was the day he sealed his fate as a character I no longer had a vesting interest in. 

While the season heats up and we get closer to the trial, a lot of these characters seem on the brink of self-destruction. And it's making for a very intriguing start to the season. 

Everything Else You Need To Know

• During a raid of Truth, Sandoval casually strolled through the club, went straight to Ghost's office and planted the gun that killed Knox. TOTALLY BELIEVABLE, GUYS!

• Raise your hand if you thought Tommy was standing in front of Julio's door ready to do something unhinged before it opened and Keisha was standing there? There's no way I was the only one.

• Speaking of Keisha and Tommy, they got it on and are both keeping it a secret from Tasha. And oh yeah, she is STILL bitter about Shawn. I'm keeping my eye on her. 

• Hearing both Shawn and Holly's names this week reminded me that no one knows they're dead beside the people who killed them, right?

• There's a mystery man in jail we keep seeing, who is desperate for cash to help his dying wife. This man now wants to know all their is to know about Ghost and seems to know who Tommy is.

• Going to go out on a limb here and say the mystery man is Tommy's father. Or uncle. Basically someone related to Tommy. 

• There is no point in even talking about Ghost ever flipping on Tommy. It's just not going to happen. 

So far we are off to a strong start and I feel like this season has a lot of potential.  Who do you think the mystery man in jail is? How will Tommy help Ghost? When will Angela figure out Ghost is innocent?
