Shades of Blue: Nick Wechsler Boards Season 3

Chicago PD's loss is Shades of Blue's gain. Nick Wechsler will be swapping Chicago for the Big Apple next season.

The former Revenge alum will board the Jennifer Lopez-fronted crime solver for an undisclosed number of episodes in a recurring capacity.

Nick Wechsler Arrives at FX Premiere

He will portray Detective Cole when the series returns for Season 3 at some point next year.

The 38-year-old recently wrapped a six-episode stint on fellow NBC drama, Chicago PD. He played gang-unit cop Kenny Brixton.

Wechsler's biggest role, of course, was on ABC's Revenge. He played Jack Porter, who was essentially a beacon of light in the midst of all the dark things going on in The Hamptons.

That show ultimately wound up staying on the air for four seasons, and only came to a close in May 2015.

Nick was a series regular on the show for all four seasons, with his character getting a happy ending with Emily VanCamp's Amanda Clarke.

Shades of Blue was renewed for Season 3 earlier this year, just a few episodes into Season 2.

Nick Wechsler Attends LA Event

It is thought the show snagged a renewal over other series on the network because of Jennifer Lopez being attached to it.

The network has a new hit from Jennifer in the shape of World of Dance, which has been a reliable performer out of America's Got Talent.

The former has already clinched a Season 2 renewal.

Ratings sagged over 30 percent for Shades of Blue Season 2 to 4.3 million viewers and a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49. Despite this, the show remained a solid performer when other metrics were factored in.

Wechsler will next be seen on The CW's reboot of Dynasty, which debuts in October.
