Kirsten and Cameron spent the majority of Stitchers Season 3 Episode 7 alone in the lab sorting out their emotional issues.

The stitch team was MIA. Neither of them could remember who the victim was or what the case entailed. Clues never quite added up in their heads.

What could have been a disaster turned out to be a shot of adrenaline Stitchers Season 3 desperately needed.

Even if we hadn't watched the detailed promo after Stitchers Season 3 Episode 6, we would have guessed Cameron was a figment of Kirsten's imagination. No one was surprised when Kirsten realized she'd been in the stitch the whole time.

But that was okay because we were finally witnessing a case that tied into our characters. While it still didn't connect to the big picture, and we remain frustrated over that, it did give Kirsten a chance to explore her issues.

Now we know how she truly feels about the people in her life.

It's no surprise Kirsten assumed the mysterious Mother allegedly watching over them was her own mother. Even when she didn't feel emotions, Kirsten craved the connection to the mother she'd lost.

And because Tom, the autistic victim who happened to possess extreme empathy, also shared a special bond with his mother, it made it easier for Kirsten to relate. This is exactly the kind of thing all the cases should do: connect to the main characters.

Stitchers biggest issue seems to be deciding whether it wants to be a character drama or a show focused on cases of the week. "Just the Two of Us" hit the sweet spot in the center; the spot the show would do well to aim for with every episode.

Cameron: Kirsten? [looks around] Where is everyone?
Kirsten: I don't know. I bounced from the stitch and everyone was gone.

Another non-surprise came when Kirsten assumed her father was the one who had imprisoned them. She doesn't trust him as far as she can throw him. That seems like the correct way to go through life given what he's done.

But there was the surprise moment when Cameron suggested Ivy might be involved, and Kirsten didn't deny it. At the time, we could argue she might not have wanted to fight with him.

Now that we know she created everything that happened, it's obvious Kirsten, at least on a subconscious level, doesn't trust her sister quite as much as she thought. That's a good thing, too, considering how shady Ivy remains.

Will we circle back to that in the remainder of the season? I hope so. Perhaps once we get back to whatever deal Ivy made with Maggie and Fisher.

As for Cameron, it's not particularly shocking that he would be the one Kirsten would choose to have in the scenario with her. It's the same reason Ivy and Stinger used him to manipulate the stitches during Stitchers Season 2.

Kirsten trusts Cameron more than she does anyone else. Even when she's mad at him to the point she considered ending their relationship, he's still the one she wants at her side.

Again, that's the right call. Because despite the nonsense with Cameron accidentally telling Maggie about Kirsten's mother, he's the person who loves her most. He would never hurt her on purpose.

Kirsten: You're a reflection of my feelings about us.
Cameron: So I'm your imaginary friend?
Kirsten: No. You're more like my projected friend.

As fun as it was to see Kirsten and Cameron being a team, it might have been even better watching Kirsten on her own once she realized what happened.

While it remains debatable whether or not it was a good idea to wipe away Kirsten's lack of emotions, there's never been a question as to whether or not she was a smart, kickass woman. And it was fantastic to watch her putting the pieces of the puzzle together on her own through trial and alone.

Although, she did have a little help and encouragement from the former victims the team had helped, including Ed Clark. That made for a powerful moment when they began to appear in the lab.

Other than Ed, no one spoke, but their presence gave Kirsten the final push she needed. Even strong, capable people need help from time time time.

The best "twist" came when Kirsten emerged from the stitch to breathlessly solve the case for the rest of the team. She thought she'd been gone for days, but Cameron pointed to the clock. It had only been three seconds.

Does that feel a little unrealistic? Probably. But we're watching the team stitch into dead people's brains so realism is not what we're tuning in for week after week. I like that Tom was able to guide her that fast.

Especially since Kirsten also managed to understand her own feelings and decide she needed to forgive Cameron.
