Losing a loved one is never easy.

That sentiment echoed through Ray Donovan Season 5 Episode 2 as we got some more details on what happened to Abby.

Who would have thought their 21st anniversary would be filled so much drama?

Knowing this was the final one they would celebrate together because, well, Abby dies, made it all the more poignant.

Abby is a big character on the show, so there were some testing times as the family reacted to her death.

Joining forces with Ray at the brothel flawlessly showed viewers why they were together for so long. The chemistry between them has always been off the charts.

London was horrid. Stealing the ring was downright awful, but I'm unsure whether Terry was telling the truth about why he wound up with her.

You could tell that London was way more interested in Ray than Abby. She could not take her eyes off of him, so Abby probably loved threatening to remove her hair.

Now that we know months passed after the crash, it became apparent that the bump on the head had absolutely nothing to do with her death.

The scene in the hotel with Ray finding her having the seizure was heartbreaking. They had such a good weekend, so it was evident something was going to happen.

Ray must have felt like his world was crashing down around him. Ray Donovan Season 5 Episode 1 made it seem like Bridget found Abby dead in her bedroom.

Now, it looks like she died in the hospital, so I can only assume that Bridget was weeping as she tried to process the loss of her mother. It's unclear whether this episode served as Paula Malcomson's final appearance as Abby.

Somehow, I thought the two timelines were going to continue for the duration of Ray Donovan Season 5, but this episode also seemed to close the door on the arc.

All of that, however, is if we are to assume the Doctor was telling Ray Abby had passed away. There are still some questions that need to be answered about all of it.

The contrast in Ray's demeanor between the flashbacks and the current timeline was astounding. He and Abby were as happy as ever, and he was still unsure how to process all of it.

It was very surprising Ray was not the one flipping out at the wedding. Maybe winding up in jail and court-ordered therapy was still weighing heavily on his mind.

With both of the families seemingly at odds, it was only a matter of time before one of them struck. If Todd wanted to destroy the wedding, he would have told Maureen about the Nevada incident quicker.

Maybe he's worried about what it would do to her if she found out her man was allegedly getting jiggy with someone else. However, she'd probably be madder that the chick was named London.

It looks like Todd is going to be causing drama for the Donovans from here on out, and Bunchy will probably be high on his hit list. Todd's comments were woeful.

Violence being on the agenda was predictable, but it was telling how Todd was the only member of the family who said anything.

The rest of the family seemed okay with it, but maybe Todd has not been as open with them about his findings, and that could cause some more problems down the line.

The Natalie James plot is gathering steam, but it's difficult to assess where it's going. Is Natalie sticking around for the foreseeable future? It sure seems like it.

Her husband leaking the racy pictures of her was just disgusting. She felt betrayed and likely feels like her career is going to be defined by his heinous act.

That's probably why she lashed out and killed him when she tried to get her dog back. There's definitely more to tell about her relationship with Ray, but I hope they did not have a secret relationship.

That would ruin what has been an otherwise thrilling season so far of the series.

"Las Vegas" was a surprisingly fresh follow-up to last week's episode. It's difficult to express just how shocked I am that Ray Donovan is back to being a stellar drama series.

Who would have thought it?
