Aidan Gillen Plots TV Comeback in UFO Drama Series

Aidan Gillen's days of scheming as Littlefinger on Game of Thrones may have ended just months ago, but the star is already plotting his TV comeback.

Aidan Gillen Attends Premiere.

According to Deadline, His new role will find him investigating other life forms in History Channel's Blue Book. The series centers on a U.S. government operation in the 1950s and 1960s that examines occurrences that are linked to aliens.

Aidan is tapped to lead the series as Dr. J. Allen Hynek. His character is one of the many who does not believe in aliens and extraterrestrial lifeforms. This presents a conundrum for the character when he is drafted in as the Chief Scientific Advisor.

We can only imagine the things the character will witness during his initial days on the job, but will he become a believer by the end of it? That will likely be one of the more intriguing questions.

The series will be executive produced by Robert Zemeckis, who has carved out a successful career for himself over the years.

Gillen portrayed Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish for seven years on Game of Thrones. Considering the way Game of Thrones Season 7 concluded, the actor is likely finished with that show.

Gillen will next appear on TV screens in Peaky Blinders Season 4 which is slated to debut later this year.

All things considered, Blue Hook sounds like it could be a departure from the usual History Channel fare, and that's a good thing. Sometimes the shows that are so off-brand emerge as the best.
