iZombie Round Table: An Acceptable, Albeit Predictable Finale!

at .

Liv lived to see another day, but a few familiar faces did not.

On iZombie Season 4 Episode 13, the finale ended on a sweet note with most of the gang in interesting positions where they're shaping and cultivating this New Seattle.

Join TV Fanatics Stacy Glanzman, Lizzy Buczak, and Jasmine Blu as they discuss the final episode of the fourth season.

Are you disappointed or surprised by Chase and Levon's deaths? Do you have any other thoughts on their character arcs?

Stacy: I'm not disappointed or surprised. They need to stop killing Liv's boyfriends though, it's getting old and has lost all its shock value. I remember how devastated I was when Lowell died, but I didn't even blink an eye for Levon. As much as I love Jason Dohring, I am glad to see Chase dead.

Lizzy: Neither. Their deaths were both inevitable -- Chase was on a constant power trip and needed a taste of his own medicine, and Levon was not memorable. We didn't even really get to know him, so his death was expected and not particularly upsetting.

Jasmine: Neither. Levon lacked presence, so his death didn't make me feel anything. I agree that they need to stop killing off Liv's boyfriends. As for Chase, I mentioned multiple times that he would probably end up in his guillotine by the end of the season.

Execution Day - iZombie Season 4 Episode 13

Major has officially taken over Fillmore Graves and (temporarily) called a truce with Blaine in hopes of using him to help feed Seattle. What are your thoughts?

Stacy: I am pretty much over Fillmore Graves, so I'm not excited about it. Hopefully, it will be better with Major in charge, but I'm not sure how they plan to keep it interesting considering they won't have the Renegade/smuggling danger anymore.

I used to love Blaine, but I found myself bored any time he was on screen this season. We'll see if this truce makes him appealing again.

Lizzy: I hated FG all season, but I'm intrigued to see what happens if it's in the right hands. And hopefully, Major doesn't go down the same power hungry road that Chase did. He's already making better decisions by aligning with Renegade and allowing human smuggling.

However, I don't think Blaine is the answer to the brain shortage. There's only so much he can do in terms of supplying product. I laughed out loud when Major told him and Don E that they would have statues dedicated to them!

Major: A year from now, you'll be patriots. There will be statues of you in the time square. Zombie children will be taught nursery rhymes about your exploits. Zombie teenagers will go to De Beers high. There will be Don E's deep fried brain stands across the city.
Blaine: All of our debts forgiven.
Hobbs: Um, maybe we should ...
Major: Done.

Jasmine: I'm willing to see where the Fillmore Graves storyline goes with Major in charge. It still frustrates me that we never got to see this organization behind-the-scenes.

I doubt they'll rehash Major being a power-hungry leader, though. Major needs to be "redeemed" so to speak next season, and since it's the final season, we need likable Major again.

Blaine can temporarily resolve the brain shortage, but they do need to work on something sustainable. I also agree that Blaine was boring this season. Blaine and Major's new partnership should be intriguing, and I wonder if Major will get some revenge.

Chase Leads FG - iZombie Season 4 Episode 13

How do you feel about the way the zombie cure storyline was handled this season?

Stacy: I was assuming Ravi would spend next season trying to manufacture a cure using Isobel's brain. I wasn't expecting it to be a one time cure, but it made sense.

I assumed the cure, in whatever capacity it was, would go to Dale, so that part of it was predictable. I'm curious to see if he ends up finding a widespread cure next season since it's the final season.

Lizzy: If we're just going to end it with "Isobel's brain was the cure, and it isn't mass-producible" then what a snooze! Hopefully, Ravi discovered some chemical in her brain that he can use to create a cure for most folks. Otherwise, why did they even bring Isobel into the picture?

Jasmine: I expected more to come from Isobel's brain. I at least expected Ravi to use it to conduct some research or something. Then again, I expected Ravi and the others to still give a damn about the last stolen cure, so what do I know?

Liv gave Dale the cure, and Bozzineax got married! React.

Stacy: As I said, I was predicting that she would get the cure, but it was still cute to see them get married and watch Liv make that sacrifice. I wouldn't be surprised if she's pregnant by the end of next season.

Lizzy: I feel nothing for Dale and Clive, and since we haven't delved deep into their relationship, I found their vows to be very awkward. However, Clive and Liv's friendship is one of the strongest, so I love that she gave up her only chance (for now) at being human again for her partner-in-crime.

If there aren't babies come next season, I'll be disappointed.

Jasmine: I'm right there with you Lizzy! It's weird because at the beginning of the season I loved me some Bozzineaux, but they dropped the ball on their relationship, so I stopped caring. I do want to see some Bozzineaux babies next season though. I LOVE CLiv friendship, though, so that scene touched my heart.

The Happy Couple - iZombie Season 4 Episode 13

What was your favorite scene and/or quote?

Stacy: Probably the wedding. Their vows were funny, and it was both heartwarming and devastating to see Liv give up her chance to be human yet again for someone else.

Lizzy: The reporter doing a live shot while the military was gearing up to attack crazed zombies trying to escape and spread the virus to the rest of the world. It was such a parody on the extreme situations like blizzards or hurricanes that reporters often find themselves smack dab in the middle.

Jasmine: Liv saying goodbye to Clive, Ravi, and Peyton. All the feels!

Liv: Try to remember me on this brain, Clive. This is the one who loves you.
Clive: Got it, partner.

What would you rate this season, and what would you like to see in the final season?

Stacy: C. It had some funny moments, but it was my least favorite season by far. If next season hadn't already been announced as the final one, I'm not sure if I would keep watching. I am hoping next season gets back to more humor, and I would like to see them develop a cure.

Lizzy: C+. They tried something new, and it wasn't a colossal fail. There were some funny, memorable moments and some less exciting storylines, as well. The season finale could have sufficed as a series finale; they wrapped up everything into a neat little bow!

Jasmine: C+. This season was very ambitious, and I loved that, but they didn't always deliver. The series needed to address a lot of storylines, but there wasn't a lot of time to do it properly. I want to see better pacing next season. I also want more of the humor and less divisiveness among the series regulars.
