The Originals Season 5 Episode 7 Review: God's Gonna Trouble the Water

You didn't think Hayley's funerals would go off without a hitch, did you?
The Original family isn't new to heartbreak and on The Originals Season 5 Episode 7, they barely had a chance to grieve Hayley, the most beloved hybrid in New Orleans, before things went awry.
Her Second Line funeral, a traditional procession in NOLA, was crashed by Greta's deranged Nazi-minions. It was to be expected.
And while her wolf ceremony was more intimate and emotional, it was mostly overshadowed by a brand new prophecy slapping them all on the wrist for two Mikealson's being in the same place at the same time.
It's no secret that whenever any of them are in close proximity, weird things start happening.

Well, apparently, slithering snakes and blood rain is nothing compared to the final phase; if they keep it up, they are going to kill all the firstborns in town including Hope and Freya.
They can't win, can they?
This new version of the prophecy did provide us with some great moments between Klaus and Hope.
Elijah: You listen to me, okay? Anything happens to her, I won't ever forgive this.
Klaus: One doesn't need forgiveness from enemies. And that's where we are, you and I. We're certainly no longer family.
I'll just say it -- Klaus embracing his role as a father, even with all these obstacles, is the best thing about this season.
I can't say I'm too thrilled with teenage Hope and all her angst.
She lashes out at everyone because she blames herself for her mother's death, and while her pain is understandable, at times, the teenage hysterics are too much.
She shouts at Klaus for not being there for her when she knows damn well there's nothing more he could have done.
Eventually, Hope comes to her senses, begins to understand the intensity of the danger she's in, and vows to restore the promise of "always and forever."
Considering we're nearing the end of the series, it's about time we go back to the basics of what this show has always been about: family.
However, the fact that Hayley won't be around when all is said and done is still something that's weighing heavily on me.
I didn't expect to be so emotional when Klaus begged the "little wolf" to tell him what his next move should be, but there was something so pure and innocent about this big, bad vamp admitting that he's lost without her.
This family, hmm. We're a curse to each other and to our home. And I know she needs me, I see that now. But loving her brings her closer to death. And I want her to live. I want her to grow up. I want her to love and be a strong beautiful woman as her mother. And I don't know what to do. And I really wish that you were here to tell me, little wolf.
Klaus
Hayley was such a beacon of strength.
I found the funeral emotionally draining mainly because Elijah wasn't there to pay his respects or say goodbye.
As the city mourned the woman he once loved, he was too busy trying to save Antoinette from Klaus' werewolf bite.
Did anyone really think he was going to let them get away with killing his daughter's mother without getting revenge?
This is Klaus we are talking about! Elijah's memory might be a bit hazy, but I'm pretty sure he's aware that his brother resorts to extreme violence when wronged.
I'm just glad that Elijah paid no part in actually interfering with Hayley's funeral because that would have been a low blow.
Klaus let his guard down on more than one occasion during the hour.
I was convinced that his decision to reject Elijah's offer to get his memories back in exchange for Antoinette's life was done out of spite, but I'm glad he was being a good brother and protecting him from the damage and destruction he's caused.
Klaus is 100% right -- Elijah is a lost cause either way so why make him suffer for it by making him remember what he's done?
And if everything wasn't messy enough, Klaus tried to do the right thing and skip town at the very end but instead, found himself trapped in a chambre de chasse with Elijah whose memories were still suppressed.
Can anyone blame him for wanting to remain blissfully ignorant?
No news. Today is all about reflecting on the loss of a vibrant woman. No news, because news means information, information means action, and actions mean dead people. I don't want any news.
Vincent
My first instinct was that Ivy was responsible, and Vincent did something when he tried to restore Elijah's memories.
However, it seems that even in this astral projection, being together only fuels the prophecy which Ivy would never encourage.
So it must be someone who wants it to come to fruition like one of Greta's psycho witches willing to carry on her legacy. The problems keep piling on.

The only positive here is that we know both Antoinette and Elijah weren't keen on the radicalized ideologies.
Is it possible that they'll all be working on the same side by the end?
I'm torn on whether or not I should be laughing or crying at everyone forgetting to tell Declan that his girlfriend died. Hopefully, that wasn't the last we've seen of him because otherwise, introducing him as Cami's relative would have been pretty pointless.
Maybe he's the key to breaking this whole prophecy? Or maybe he knows a way to stop the Hollow?
Much like Paul said on The Originals Season 5 Episode 6, Caroline's letters to Klaus felt so forced and out of place. Did she skip town as Hayley went up in flames and Klaus lay there helplessly? And why don't these people text?

Why did Roman escape with his life? They better bring him back for judgment day. He deserves to pay for what he's done.

The irony of Antoinette needing the one thing her mother was hellbent on destroying is not lost on me ... or anyone.
- Keelin came back, so if Freya does die as a result of the prophecy, at least they'll part on good terms!
