Doom Patrol: Brendan Fraser To Star As Robotman!

Brendan Fraser will be one of the many household names appearing on DC Streaming Universe when it launches. 

According to Deadline, Fraser has been added to the cast of Doom Patrol, and will appear as Cliff Steele aka Robotman.

"A former race car driver, Cliff Steele was in a horrific accident that left his body uninhabitable," reads the report about the character. 

While an uninhabitable body would spell doom for some, Dr. Niles Caulder swooped in to save the day and transported his consciousness to a robotic body.

Fraser is slated to appear as a series regular, but his role will be limited to flashback scenes of the character while providing voiceover for Robotman.

Riley Shanahan has been cast to appear as the physical appearance of the character. 

"Doom Patrol is a reimagining of one of DC’s strangest group of outcasts: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman and Crazy Jane. Led by the mysterious Dr. Niles Caulder, they’re called into action by the ultimate hero for the digital age, Cyborg," reads the official description of the series.

"Banding together these rejects find themselves on a mission that will take them to the weirdest and most unexpected corners of the DC Universe."

Diane Guerrero attends Teen Vogue Event

Fraser will star alongside Orange is the New Black grad, Diane Guerrero, who has landed the role of Crazy Jane in the upcoming series. 

Jane suffers from multiple personality disorder, and she becomes an unlikely hero as she tries to come to terms with that.

With 64 personalities, each coming with a different power, it means that the team should not run out of options when it comes to defeating the villains. 

Doom Patrol will pick up after the events of Titans, which is slated to debut later this year. It will be penned by Jeremy Carver, who will executive produce alongside Greg Berlanti. 

DC Universe opens in beta this month, while a full rollout will occur in the coming months. There is no premiere date for any of the expansive roster of original series.
