Jeremy Gilbert is returning to Mystic Falls!

The Vampire Diaries veteran, Steven R. McQueen has closed a deal to appear on the new spin-off, Legacies, according to TV Line.

He is slated to appear on the third episode of the magic school-set series. Jeremy was last seen in a blink, and you'll miss it moment on the series finale of The Vampire Diaries.

He appeared to be working at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted. Given that Legacies was a mere idea at that point, there was no indication about whether we'd ever get to see the character again.

Until now.

When The Vampire Diaries kicked off in 2009, Jeremy was a stoner kid who was struggling to cope after his mother and father died after crashing their car before the series kicked off.

He subsequently got close to Vicki Donovan before she was killed after getting a little bit too handsy with Elena upon transitioning into a vampire.

His next lover was of the supernatural variety. Poor Anna. She never lived past The Vampire Diaries Season 1, but we did get to see her again as a ghost, so there's that.

The expanded synopsis for Legacies reads:

For the last decade, the iconic heroes and villains of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals have captivated audiences worldwide. They left an enduring legacy of love and family in their wake, which continues in LEGACIES, a thrilling new drama that tells the story of the next generation of supernatural beings at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.

Will these young witches, vampires and werewolves become the heroes they want to be — or the villains they were born to be? As they fight to protect their secret, their town of Mystic Falls and eventually the world, they will have to rely on ancient folklore and tales to learn how to battle their far-reaching enemies.
