The Elite did not form to play games, even if their approach is casual with a flair for magic tricks. 

Manchester Black, Hat, Menagerie, and the Morae were all business when it came to making a statement against racist, fascists, and the Children of Liberty on Supergirl Season 4 Episode 13.

For most of Supergirl Season 4, Supergirl has been dealing with extremists. 

There's no middle ground; either you hate aliens, or you hate humans. 

The Elite was no different. They killed anyone that stood in their way spreading terror throughout National City and even stealing the crown jewels in England.

It was a bizarre scene; there was some entertainment value there. 

Their existence forced Supergirl to form her own little supergroup complete with J'onn who broke his vow of pacifism to "handle" Manchester Black.

J'onn finally joining the fight gave us some of the best battle scenes this season. He's been a missed asset and really, the whole 'vow of peace' storyline has slightly overstayed its welcome. 

His father would have wanted him to fight for what's right! 

Alex: I think you're right. There's something wrong with this government.
Lena: I thought you were the government.
Alex: No, I'm your friend. And right now I have a hell of a lot more faith in you than I do in them.

I was a little underwhelmed with the Elite.

They had a lot of tricks up their sleeve, including disappearing acts, so they should have been formidable opponents, but they lacked the skills to defeat Supergirl, J'onn, Nia, Brainy and Alex.

Who knew calculus and dreams could be so powerful?

They did manage to steal Brainy's Legion ring, which was upsetting mostly because of how hurt he was. 

No one takes Brainy's things without asking! 

Supergirl needs to change up her game a little bit because she's become quite predictable. 

When your opponents can manipulate you by foreseeing your next moves, you've got a problem. 

The Elite would have never known where the satellite was if Supergirl had not flown from the meeting right to the Oval Office. 

It was a setup, girl! 

For now, the Super Team scored a W when Supergirl dismantled the satellite thus saving the President and all of his staffers.

I wouldn't have minded if he was taken out of the equation because after seeing his satellite fail, he made the stupidest decision by aligning himself with Ben Lockwood and appointing him as the Director of Alien Affairs. 

There may a fight between aliens and humans, but I think the majority of people share the same sentiment as Alex -- they couldn't care less if aliens co-exist with them but the government? They've lost it. 

Lockwood is going to abuse the position to his advantage. 

Though, an office position seems more up his ally than beating one of his own to a pulp.

Lockwood is more of an insidious villain, so I didn't appreciate the theatrics of bashing in a man's face with the Agent of Liberty mask to make a point.

It wasn't necessary to prove that he still evokes fear especially because that was never his M/O.

The President will soon learn the hard way that making weapons that can easily be turned against you isn't the best answer. 

The satellite seemed like foreshadowing for Lena's experiment. 

She entered a contract with the government, but while giving regular folks superpowers is awesome, it can also be dangerous if in the wrong hands. 

Given that Ben Lockwood is now in the 'in' crowd, the President will likely want to give him those powers to fight aliens. 

And Ben would love to hone all that power.

Hopefully, this episode plants the seed necessary for a promising rest of the season.

Alex: Okay, wait. That conversation at Thanksgiving, that wasn't theoretical? Your giving people powers!
Lena: Management is such a waste of your talents.
Alex: Lena, this is huge. And it's dangerous. We need to up your security. We need to make sure that your reports are on protected servers.
Lena: I'm not going to be writing any reports.
Alex: What do you mean your not? You made a deal with the government.
Lena: The deal was none reciprocal. It was for products not procedures, which is a good thing cause I don't trust the government.

What happens now that Colonel Haley got left out of the loop for Project Claymore? Will she turn on the President? Will she side with Supergirl?

Will she distrust the government as Alex does?

Lena also doesn't trust the government, but she trusted them enough to bring her experiment to them and even got mad at James for telling her not to trust the government? 

Right. 

Sometimes, I feel like Lena is slightly confused with her own beliefs.

Alex remains in the dark about Kara being Supergirl, but with their dynamic almost back to normal, I wonder if she'll be able to piece everything together and figure out Supergirl's real identity despite the memory wipe.

There was a moment at the end of the episode where you could see Alex trying to figure out why this interaction with Supergirl felt so familiar.

James is finally growing a pair and allowing Mackenzie to follow a lead about Luthor Corp that will undoubtedly make things uglier between him and Lena.

James: Brainy told me. We get brunch.
Kara: Cute.
James: Yeah.

Mackenzie's determination to seek the is commendable and speaks to how terrible James' leadership is. 

It's a shame James and Lena had to break up for his to realize that he should have journalistic integrity.

Though while he doesn't have a personal conflict anymore, I wonder how 'the truth' will sit with Lena since L Corp still owns CatCo. 

A promo for Supergirl Season 4 Episode 14 teased that National City is on the brink of a Civil War but really, hasn't this been the case for most of the season?

It seriously feels like we're rehashing the same dilemma over and over with no end in sight. 

With her no-violence and no-kill policy, Supergirl hasn't done much to stop either Lockwood or Manchester Black, so they just keep coming back and making things worse. 

The politics have brought down the series, and I wish we could go a time without all the Trumpian references and metaphors. It's too rooted in reality for me. 

Manchester Black: You could have just used the door.
Supergirl: And you could stop killing people.

And whatever is happening with the Red Daughter? Can we get any more details?

The only thing keeping me invested is Brainy. 

Brainy continues to be the most real character who stays true to himself and is a delight to watch. 

His beef with Kal-Ex and his "subtle" tee and shades were the highlights of the episode.
