Claws Season 3 Episode 4 Review: Boy, Bye

at .

Things are a-changin' in Palm-ghetto.

It was a time of coupling on Claws Season 3 Episode 4.

Actually, Ann got a jump on that theme on Claws Season 3 Episode 3, getting back together with Arlene after finally getting Desna's blessing.

Double Trouble -- Tall - Claws Season 3 Episode 4

I still feel that having Arlene in Team Desna's orbit will prove beneficial before this season is over.

Anyway, this episode was all about 'ships (shoot me now), whether old, new, or uncertain.

Shocking Moment - Claws Season 3 Episode 4

So into which category did Desna and Roller fit?

Desna was ready to write him off in the beginning when she thought he had ghosted her.

But by the end, after a long, harrowing day, they were both admitting, however grudgingly, their love for each other. Desna was even willing to step back from her ambitions just to spend some quiet time with Roller.

Let's see how long that lasts. I'm betting not very long.

It was quite the ordeal for Desna and especially Roller.

Poor Roller. He was certainly correct when he told Melba that wasn't his first "crazy-bitch rodeo." He does have a type.

All Tied Up - Claws Season 3 Episode 4

The only one who wasn't insane is Desna, and she tried to kill him, however unsuccessfully.

(I'm not counting Virginia because she was only a fling. Plus the jury is still out on her sanity.)

Desna soon found out about Mac and Melba's plan: Roller's life for her signature.

She tried her own plan, recruiting a posse and rushing the yurt, only to find out her rescue mission was being surveilled (of course there was a beaver-cam).

All of which led to Desna going it alone after Roller's severed toe arrived. It was enjoyable listening to her debate with herself whether going after Roller was worth the effort.

Eventually, she landed at the creepy cabin in the swamp. A highlight was Melba insisting that Desna dance with her to "More, More, More" by one-hit wonder Andrea True Connection.

Starting Anew - Claws Season 3 Episode 4

Yes, eventually Desna did sign over her portion of the casino to save Roller, only to get tased as thanks.

The fun really began when they woke up tied to the bed, and Roller was pouting because she didn't sign quickly enough for his liking.

I'm assuming Mac and Melba left the poisonous snake in the cabin. But being in the Florida swamps, who can say for sure?

The lightbulb moment came after Roller got bit by the snake. They stopped worrying about who was going to be on top and started working together.

Still, that didn't mean they weren't going to bring up every grievance they had against each other on the long walk to the highway. Maybe they had to get that out of their systems before their relationship could evolve.

It took Roller collapsing and passing out for Desna to express how she really felt about him before she left to find help for him.

Of course, Roller never would have been saved if it wasn't for Claws' latest couple: Joe and Polly.

This pairing could be as simple as two nutjobs recognizing the crazy inside of the other, which, apparently, makes them hot.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Polly still on probation and shouldn't be handling a gun?

Back on the Market - Claws Season 3 Episode 4

Isn't it sweet that Joe and Polly found a new project: shaking down local businessmen for protection money?

Surely this independent streak isn't going to be well received by either Mac and Melba or Desna.

But Joe came through for Polly this time, finding out where Desna and Roller were being held: the same cabin where Mac and Melba found the abandoned Joe.

But as Joe has proven when he killed Penelope on Claws Season 3 Episode 2, he's dangerous crazy, whereas Polly is more eccentric, so far anyway.

Joe may be playing a long game, using Polly as a spy into whatever Desna has planned. He might be doing this for Mac and Melba or even for his own agenda.

I just don't buy him as being lovesick for Polly. He won't be an ally in the end.

Choices to Make - Claws Season 3 Episode 4

Jenn and Bryce dodged a bullet with the name of Brenda.

Bryce had reluctantly agreed with Uncle Daddy to rehab Brenda on Claws Season 3 Episode 3.

Poor Jenn. First, she defused the situation with EJ by letting him, and Brienne get to know each other.

And now Brenda was back, wanting to make things right with Jenn, another hand grenade thrown into Jenn and Bryce's once-again harmonious marriage.

Jenn made the right move in blowing off Brenda in the midst of the search for Desna and Roller. And Bryce was smart enough to throw up his hands and surrender when Jenn came to confront him.

Where did Bryce find that half-dozen pillbillies to rehab? Didn't they all walk out of him and Uncle Daddy last episode?

Bryce was at least trying to help them. Clay was a complete fraud as a rehab counselor, with no idea what he was supposed to be doing.

New Profession - Claws Season 3 Episode 4

Claws' cutest couple, Dean and Virginia, appeared headed for a split.

Mac had introduced Dean to maj jongg in the hopes of distracting Desna. Instead, Dean's obsession with the game was threatening his relationship with Virginia.

Now EJ has been giving Virginia attention while Dean has been neglecting her. It turned out the ex-con was actually the sweet, sensitive soul which Dean used to be, which is attractive to Virginia.

But there's no way that Virginia dropping Desna's brother for Jenn's ex can possible turn out good.

Ann dating an FBI agent doesn't sound nearly that bad anymore, does it?

After Desna gets over Roller's near-death experience, how does she get back in the game?

Who gets in trouble first: Polly, Virginia or Ann?

When will Dean realize he's neglecting Virginia?

Claws Season 3 Episode 4 Quotes

This ain't my first time at the crazy-bitch rodeo.

Roller [to Melba]

Ann: What's wrong with you?
Jenn: Yeah. You only act this pretend-happy when you're big mad about something.
