Killjoys Season 5 Episode 6 Review: Three Mutineers

at .

Thanks to Johnny, the Killjoys finally succeeded in one of their plans.

The trio managed to go from being the hunted to being on top of the Herks Supermax prison ship on Killjoys Season 5 Episode 6.

They even managed to fall off The Lady's radar, at least for the time being.

Left Scrambling -- Tall - Killjoys Season 5 Episode 6

Did this episode mark the turning point in their war against The Lady?

Probably so, since there were several developments that improved the chances of the Resistance.

Role Reversal - Killjoys Season 5 Episode 6

Let's start with the prison ship itself, which appears will become the Killjoys' new base of operations. After all, Nucy has taken control of it, so they're in charge, in collaboration with Warden Reniker.

Things looked dark for the Killjoys, especially Dutch and D'avin, in the beginning.

But the tenuous partnership between Sparlow and Corin was bound to fall apart.

After all, Corin had already tried to have Sparlow assassinated on Killjoys Season 5 Episode 4 so that's hardly a solid base upon which to build a lasting union.

Dutch was smart enough to chip away at that, agreeing with Corin's scheme to ransom Q'reshis Silas and Evie and offering to impersonate the warden to negotiate with the Q'reshi representative.

Corin's imperiously ordering Sparlow to monitor Dutch gave her a chance to make a side deal with him to take out Corin.

Too bad Corin killed Sparlow moments later, robbing Dutch of the more stable potential ally.

D'avin also found a way to prove his value to Corin, offering to track down Evie using the communication device she had given him.

She wasn't grateful to be found, especially since Silas was still alive.

It was natural that Dutch became suspicious when Q'reshi Captain Cole agreed to pay a high ransom for two minor lords. She knew he was stalling but not why.

Fortunately, she also had Johnny, who had teamed up with Reniker, on her side, although she didn't even know he was still alive.

Johnny and the warden made quite a team. She was impressed with how Johnny had built an AI inside the prison while he was impressed by her being a psychiatrist.

Being able to read people has got to be a handy skill when dealing with hundreds of prisoners.

To make the supermax feel like home, Johnny installed Nucy in the mainframe so he could take control.

It was wonderful to see Dutch's face when she heard Nucy's voice, warning her about the bombs planted throughout the ship. It was like an old friend had come home.

Things came together quickly after that, with Reniker disabling the bombs and Johnny and Dutch rescuing D'av and the hostages.

D'av and Johnny showed Evie and Silas how siblings should behave around each other.

While the Killjoys were taking over the supermax, Khlyen was seeking his own channel into the resistance efforts.

Treacherous Negotiator - Killjoys Season 5 Episode 6

Khlyen did free Gared from The Lady's brainwashing, but he also manipulating Gared into allowing Khlyen to remotely spy on Pree.

It appeared that Khlyen's heart is in the right place, wanting to protect his Yala (Dutch). However, it isn't clear how much he is concerned with shielding her allies.

The tablet he had Gared plant on Pree let him know about the trouble Dutch and company was facing on the prison ship. So he hijacked The Lady's warship to go rescue her.

The quick-thinking Johnny assessed the resources on hand and staged an explosion to make it appear that the Killjoys had been killed while trying to escape. Then he turned on the cloaking device of the prison ship which few people knew existed.

So what happens now that The Lady has lost the bait that she was employing to draw Jaq out of hiding?

And, although she doesn't know it, that's not the only reason that Jaq isn't coming.

Reunited and It Feels So Good - Killjoys Season 5 Episode 6

Jaq's mother, Aneela and Delle Seyah Kendry, were doing everything they could to protect him.

They're coming to bring the fight to The Lady, but they've safely encased Jaq inside the Hullen cube.

Don't think he'll stay out of the final battle. The Lady is trying to find him because he's the key to the war's outcome.

It was amusing to watch the mothers deal with the twist that while Aneela remained Hullen, Delle Sayeh has become human again.

I'm afraid Kendry may not survive the upcoming war now that she's human again.

It seemed like Aneela had forgotten everything she had learned about human behavior on Killjoys Season 4, as she was acting all superior, even to Kendry.

But Delle Seyah wasn't going to take attitude from anyone, even her long-lost love. Before long, she had leveled the playing field.

And, like teens everywhere, Jaq was soon embarrassed by Aneela's PDA.

It was amusing that Aneela, one of the most powerful women in the J, was dependent on Jaq and Kendry grifting to get transportation money. Oh, well, they had to fly below The Lady's radar.

Still, Aneela did make her presence known when Aneela was threatened by a cheated native.

Aneela was making up her plans as she goes along, but she did seem to know what The Lady was after.

In Charge Again - Killjoys Season 5 Episode 6

Will they hook up with the Killjoys on the supermax next episode?

Dutch now has the army she wanted in the prisoners that the Killjoys saved.

And now that Zephyr has figured out how to counteract The Lady's brainwashing chemicals, there will be more soldiers available on Westerley.

The big question remains that while those humans can battle The Lady's troops, who can take her down?

To follow the fight so far, watch Killjoys online.

Were you surprised at how the Killjoys retook the prison?

Is Khlyen friend or foe?

Should Jaq have been shielded from the action?

Killjoys Season 5 Episode 6 Quotes

Can you imagine the screams when I hang up a Killjoy?

Corin [to Dutch]

Warden: You asshole. You hijacked my ship.
Johnny: Yeah, but then Sparlow and Jeers hijacked our hijack so it's kind of a wash.
