Madam Secretary: Sara Ramirez Not Returning for Final Season!

Madam Secretary is losing a series regular ahead of its final season. 

TV Line is reporting that Sara Ramirez is stepping down as a series regular, but there's hope that she could return for a guest appearance to wrap up her character's storyline. 

Ramirez has played Kat Sandoval on the political drama since the fourth season. She was drafted in to replace Bebe Neuwirth, who played Nadine Tolliver.

If you watch Madam Secretary online, you know that Kat had left the world of politics behind prior to Elizabeth managing to bring her back into it. 

Ramirez is best known for her role on the ABC medical juggernaut Grey's Anatomy. She departed the series after over a decade in the role in 2016.

Tea Leoni, Tim Daly, Zeljko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe are all slated to retur for Madam Secretary's abbreviated final season. 

“They’re going to do ten episodes in the fall and tie up the storyline," CBS entertainment president, Kelly Kahl previously said of the decision to end the series.

“We are doing about a two-year time jump,” Amy Reisenbach, CBS’ executive vice president of current affairs, told the publication.

“When we come back, Elizabeth will be president. It will be about 100 days into her presidency.”

It will certainly make for a change of pace!
