Madam Secretary Ending With Abbreviated Sixth Season

We have bad news, Madam Secretary Fanatics.
The popular CBS drama series is ending after its upcoming sixth season, which is slated to air in the fall.
CBS president Kelly Kahl revealed that the 10-episode final season will bring closure to the storylines.
“They’re going to do ten episodes in the fall and tie up the storyline," he said of the show, according to Deadline.

"We’re happy and excited to do that for Téa, the cast and the audience."
"It’s hard when a show ‘poof goes away’. We like to be able to do this and send the show off with a great deal of respect and celebration."

Madam Secretary stars Leoni as Elizabeth McCord, a secretary of state who drives international diplomacy and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues, both at the White House and at home.
Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood and Evan Roe also star on the series.
The news of the show's end date does not come as a surprise.
Averaging 5.4 million total viewers and a 0.6 rating in the demo, Madam Secretary ranks 24th out of 26 scripted series on CBS.
The renewal for a sixth season was a surprise, but it's good that fans will be getting ten episodes to end the series.

CBS announced earlier today that the series will remain in its Sunday at 10/9c slot in the fall.
It will, once again, be airing alongside God Friended Me and NCIS: Los Angeles on the night.
Madam Secretary joins fellow renewed-but-ending series, Criminal Minds on the network's roster for the 2019-20 TV season.
